Review Siegel's Bagels - Vancouver

Pooya Mohammadi
Siegel’s Bagels started since 1990 in Vancouver by French-Canadian founders coming from Montreal. ✅ Bakery side, they are good at what they do. You’ll love their breads as its their specialty. ❗️Sandwich side, I didn’t like the taste of the sandwiches as the taste of the sandwiches was not good. It’s like you are eating two complete different things at the same time in each sandwich. The taste of sandwiches is not consistent, imo.

If you’re going to visit this place for a bagel sandwich, you MUST have the smoked meat sandwich! No question! This place has been high on my list after I had some smoked meat in Montreal and been craving ever since. Finally had the chance to visit and 100% recommend. I chose the rosemary rock salt bagel with the smoked meat as recommended by staff! Yumm!!

As a native New Yorker, I take my bagels very seriously. While I assuredly would get shade from my fellow NYC brethren for loving the superior Montreal Style bagel, I stand by my take that Siegel's Bagels are the best in the world. Since I was a kid my family has had a tradition of going to Siegel's when visiting Vancouver. Pro-tip, rather than wait in long lines with tourists at Granville Island, ordering in advance from the Cornwall Ave location is absolutely the way to go.

This was the famous spot when I moved here 2009 and now you see a few copy-cats around the city. Freshly made bagels with a wood-burning oven. Many flavours of cream cheese and bagels, as well as bagel sandwiches. They are 24-hours most days. (pic: rosemary rock salt bagel & plain cream cheese)

Ive lived in vancouver my entire life and this is the first time ive tried this place. Not being a big bagel fan, i was more interested in the smoke meat sandwich which was... okay. Meat portion is good, but at 15 bucks its a bit bland. Maybe my expectations are too high, thinking its like Katz Deli in NY, but its just OK. The wife tried a blueberry and cream cheese bagel which i had a bite and that was alright. But its just a bagel, i really cant tell the difference between their blueberry bagel and costco's blueberry bagel.

As always the bagels were excellent!!! Unfortunately it was very slow. I wanted a half dozen bagels and a heated meat filled bagel (only prep is reheating). In the past I have always had my order filled at the cash so it takes about 1 minute. This time they put the order in the prep food queue. It took 20 minutes to get and about 3 sandwich orders after mine were filled before mine. I will think twice about a quick stop to get bagels for home. But if I have time to wait I will always stop.

Delicious bagels that are made fresh! So many flavors! I love the cinnamon raisin, everything bagel and sesame bagel. They are soft and tasty. Service is quick!

A delicious Kits staple. I love Montreal style bagels and these guys just kept slinging them out during the pandemic to the hungry masses. Their sandwiches are delicious too but I usually grab a dozen of the day olds and save a few bucks. They last for quite a while. Extra bonus points for 24 hours as you can grab a bagel if the hunger strikes at all hours.

there were dead bugs in my bag that I had to pay extra for, and because the employee didn't care enough to actually package up my bagels, there were dead bugs touching my bagels. I tried to talk to someone about it and just got bounced around between stores until I got frustrated enough to hang up. I have reached out to the company across multiple platforms and received no response. no acknowledgement. overall very disappointed in this company.

The best bagels ever and would easily drive from Surrey/Langley just to have them! I ordered hot chocolate and that was less than tasty though. ;-)

Perfect at 5am. Wonderfully chewy bagels, and loved the sandwiches we got for eclipse viewing. Coffee was fresh, and the man at the counter was so nice. Only request: possible to make those gooey cinnamon buns without walnuts occasionally? They looked so good but my allergies wouldn’t let me!!!!

I love it that it is open 24 hours! Plus a great variety of kosher food! Plus very casual setting!

Dried up homemade Cinnamon Buns. Gross and hard , Gross flavor.

For a conference nearby I had breakfast here for the last 3 days. Fresh bagels, made in their own stone oven, great taste, always open !

We are fans of the Kits location for Siegel's bagels and have been customers since it opened. In the past six months, we have found that the quality has gone down. The bagels seem uncooked and doughy. In fact unless they are toasted they are inedible. We have actually returned them for a new order but the problem does persist. My husband has inquired as to why this is happening but has not been given any satisfactory response. Please look into this concern.

A MUST stop for us when we come up to Vancouver, I dream about the rosemary bagels

I’ve been going to Siegel’s Bageks for years. I love 💗 their bagels

Bagel deliziosi e Cinnamon Buns giganteschi e sorprendentemente buoni <3 il posto ha un aspetto un po' dimesso, ma il personale è super carino

Always love the ingredients and bagels, however kinda sucks that 3 out of 5 times I've taken my bagel to eat at home the order has been wrong.

Great place and lots of Lululemon Ladies to watch. Their office is on the opposite site and they all got #Lululemon pants on. Due to weight restrictions (because exCEO Chip Wilson said his pants are not designed for the big ones; that's why he is ex now), most of them though give bagels a pass and head straight to Starbucks to get a low fat yogi ice tea or a hot karma chocolate cup. But they will miss out something. The #bagels at #Siegels are fantastic, couple of times daily fresh out of the oven and can be ordered with a wide variety of toppings. One very good additional side note: 24hrs open!!

If was our first time there and the food was delicious!

Montreal Style bagels and the Kits location...need I say more

Best bagel I've ever had. I've only been twice but I'll be sure to keep coming here. Plus it's open 24 hours

True Montreal style bagels, like I remember. Wood fired oven, old school, so delish. Never miss an opportunity to stock up when I'm in town.
Christina Krogh
I have bought the "Almost Gluten Free" bagels many times and never had a problem up until about four months ago when I would constantly purchase bagels that when cut open at home were still partly RAW on the inside. I had notified the staff of this problem and many times been told they are aware of the issue. So what's being done? I requested the manager to call me and never received a phone call shows how much they care about their customers and produce quality.

These guys are open 24 hours a day and crank out some phenomenal late night eats - especially if you’re in the mood for smoked meat or breakfast-for-dinner. Seating is limited during peak times, so be prepared to sit at a bar-style window seat if you want to dine in.

I often go at this place at least twice a week. Bagels are always fresh and has a different and great taste. Love this place. Its also open 24 hours which is pretty convenient. Staff is also sweet. ☺️

• open 24 hours thats the best part!<br/>• situated near the south end of Burrard bridge, walking distance from Vanier park and the planetarium <br/>• tasty selection of bagels and anything you want from meat to smoked salmon<br/>• smoked meat are flown weekly from Montreal<br/>• limited parking shared with other establishments, you can park along the road or hop into your bike on a warm sunny day<br/>• the only thing I didn't like was my Jalapeno melt in a bagel made it soggy from its meat juices, made it hard to bite but overall it was satisfying<br/>• I've been here numerous times previously and all the same, which is good :)

Bagels here can't be beat, large and perfectly dense. The everything bagel is flavorful and my favorite for sure. Be sure to try their Lox bagel - the smoked salmon they use just melts in your mouth and the combination of flavors works so well.

The cheese filled bagels are to die for! The farmers cheese makes it a little bit of a sweet treat, but not too sweet. I wish I could have more!

Stopped in to Siegel's Bagels for a smoked meat sandwich while I was on my way to Bard on the Beach. Super quick and friendly service from the cashier and the person making the sandwich. My "small" smoked meat sandwich was actually very filling - loads of smoked meat in one of their rosemary-rock salt bagels. A perfect lunch for just before the matinee performance of The Merry Wives of Windsor.
Spencer Ang
The best bagels in Vancouver. They have a huge selection of flavours and are also open 24 hours. I always stop by and grab a bagel when I'm in the area.

One late night after a workout, I came to Siegals because it was probably going to be filling but also more importantly because it's opened 24/7. I tried both the Montreal smoked meat bagel and the lox and cream cheese(? The salmon one). Both were great, with a nice bite and chew the bagels were baked to perfection. The cream cheese and salmons was very satisfying and I enjoyed it over the Montreal one, the smoked meat one was more heavy and salty but the mustard gave it a great kick. I also bought a dozen bagels and ended up freezing them for whenever I needed a quick breakfast, I recommend doing this if you are in a crunch breakfast. I would recommend this place if you're ever craving a bagel.
Vancity Food Guy
I was in a rush and asked the server what's the best bagel here. She said rosemary rock salt without any hesitation! Ring it up and please may I have some cream cheese.<br/><br/>I head over to the dog beach over at kits and she forgot my cream cheese :(<br/>But surprisingly it didn't ruin my morning... The bagel is very balanced and I can taste the essence of rosemary and nature's rock salt...<br/>Very very nice while snacking and watching my husky pup take a dive into the water at the beach. Siegel's is open 24 hours if anyone didn't know. Would I come again? YES! Why? The breakfast special is 5 bucks! And I also heard the Montreal meat is nice. Besides the cream cheese mishap, it was just shy of a full 5.<br/>
Cecilia
Great montreal smoked meat, real montreal bagels, and great bagel sandwiches. However, REALLY wished they made their smoked meat sandwiches with rye or anything other than a bagel.

UP - Very good bagels and sandwiches. Staff was super friendly and service was quick.<br/><br/>DOWN - Small venue can get packed, and the parking lot looks like it could get messy too.<br/><br/>OUT - I'll definitely come back to samples more sandies, but I'll be sure to park down the street to avoid small lot.

Inconsistant service. I started swinging by siegels on my way to work in the morning at 5am for a bagel and coffee. It was pretty reliable, except for the odd bitter coffee, but within the last week I haven't been able to get my usual order. Tuesday morning there was no coffee ready and they said I would have to wait 5 minutes for them to brew more. Friday morning they said they were out of bagels and hadn't made any yet. I've got limited time to get to work and that's twice I've had to go to work without breakfast. I will be finding another morning spot.

Aweful. Owners behaviour when I brought up that the food was bad ,they treated me with total disrespect .like I was a no body

WARNING TO PEOPLE WITH NUT ALLERGIES. Anyone with nut allergies should not buy anything here. There is a cross-contamination with nuts in all of their food. Even the plain bagels are mixed, cooked and stored with nut products. After finally being able to speak with the manager, he is going to put up a sign. In the meantime DO NOT EAT PLAIN SIEGEL'S BAGELS IF YOU HAVE A NUT ALLERGY

Just visited and had been charged for a dozen day old's instead of one bagel and now find the dozen bagels I did ask for are poppy seed instead of sesame seed that I had asked for, I guess I will have to really watch closely when ordering here
Mandy Prystasz
The food is great, but if you go after midnight - then expect a very long wait. It's always busy and even though there are 5 people working only one takes and prepares the orders. Don't come here for the customer service.
Vanhiker82
By far the best bagels in Vancouver. In particular the pumpernickel and rock salt rosemary. <br/><br/>Keep for weeks (months?) if cut in half and frozen while fresh. Throw in toaster and you get a fresh tasting bagel.
CanadianRocky
Always good food for me. Sagels is one of my go to places in Vancouver when I visit. Excellent Reuben and I love the pickles. Nice place to sit outside if you have a dog, and almost always a place to park a car or motorcycle.
Robskuj
Just wondering when they are going to pay for the oven we tore out and rebuilt.. We rebuilt their oven a year and a half ago , they use it every day yet they don't want to pay for it .

Worst Smoked Meat Sandwich Ever!!!. I just ordered a smoked meat sandwich for lunch. I paid $9 dollars with tax. It is disgusting... The meat taste's like rubber. The bagel is soggy. The sandwich has no meat on it and lots of French's yellow mustard. It was scrunched up in a paper bag and served to me by a woman who snarled. When I opened the bag on my way home it all fell out on the street because it was not wrapped properly. You should not be in the food business. What a waste of money! Seven Eleven serves a better sandwich.

Best bagels EVER! The eggs Benny on everything bagel is to die for!!! Also the lox n cream cheese bagel And comes with homemade pickles! You have to come here!

Best bagels in town. My favorite bagels in town, but really no match for ny or montreal. go to bagel is the classic cream cheese and lox. buy a dozen, cut 'em all in half and throw 'em in the freezer for carb emergencies.
Iestyn
Good bagels (the rosemary and rock salt being especially yum). But the service can be a little so-so, and it's not exactly cheap for what you get. The coffee can be drab too, unless you've got a fresh pot.<br/>Buy a bag of yesterday's bagels, I say, and fire up the grill and coffee at home.
Shannon Leigh
Customer service was horrendous. Talk about making someone feel like you are putting them out!! They argued with me over my bagel and when my friend asked for hers to be reheated they didn't respond o e way or the other. They just took her sandwich, said "oh". To add insult, they turned and whispered to each other and laughed. If the bagels were good that would be one thing but they weren't.
Kirah
Really like their smoked meat bagel sandwich.
YumVegGrub
Excellent Bagel, too $$$.. The bagels here are really nice (I'd rate the majority of flavours a 8.25), the coffee is not that good. I sometimes like to come here for a snack, but for a full lunch or something it is WAY overpriced considering it is basically a small bagel shop/deli. The people in the kitchen look like they are working hard, so I will give them them that, but it's seriously just a deli counter lunch, so just too expensive for me.
Anatole Aesthete
Dull, stale and tasteless. Out of a dozen bagels, I got six that had seen their freshness ooze out of them some days ago. Not a great batting average. Service was poor with the counter staff on dope or suffering from severe Attention Deficit Disorder -- she was slow, and I had to repeat the order three times. Definitely NOT the best in Vancouver as they boast. (Get a life and go to SOLLY's.) And anyway you can only get Montreal bagels in Montreal -- it's the water, stupid (ours soft water and theirs hard), and it makes all the diff in da world. A try at the Granville Island location was also disappointing: sticky gluten with a hole in the centre does not a bagel make. (Sad the owners have to get their friends to say how great this place is: it isn't ... at all.)

This Place is the Real Deal - a Hidden Gem. Authentic wood fired bagels, the owner hails from Montreal where he grew up working in a bagel shop. This is a family owned joint with their main location in Kitsilano open 24 hours, located in the mini strip mall on Cornwall just after the Burrard Street bridge. The bagels are fantastic. Smaller and denser than what you might be used to, they are healthier too! They have tons of great bagel flavours, from Rosemary Rocksalt to Sesame Pumpernickel and wholewheat blueberry and more. their Chocolate Walnut Rugolach is the best in town. Their cream cheese is delicious and all low-fat. They make the bagels in-house with a big brick wood fire oven and they don't add preservatives, they keep the ingredients simple and whole. A great place to stop on your way to Kits Beach to pack a lunch or snack with you. They have daily deals and breakfast specials all the time, plus you can buy ingredients like lox, cream cheese and a dozen bagels and take home. Just awesome.

By far the best cinnamon rolls in town. Stickys are AMAZING. Absolutely worth the trip. Yes, I went here with a few people, only because one of them dreams of the stickies here. I'm not a sticky bun person... But there stickys are Amazing!!!

I love a chewy bagel. My love affair with Siegel's began, believe it or not, at the Costco sample counter. True. About 5 years ago you could buy them by the bag at the old big box store. But one day, without warning, no more Siegel's.<br/><br/>So began my search and it wasnt't long before I found my new source in that odd little strip mall just west of the Burrard Bridge.<br/><br/>It was wonderful to see those piles of freshly fired bagels, all encrusted with sesame seeds, or poppy seeds, or some just plain.<br/><br/>To me a Siegel's bagel is just what a bagel should be: a little bit of attitude to make you chew like you mean it, a little substantial, and always fresh.<br/><br/>I buy mine by the dozen, slice 'em up and pop 'em in the freezer, so they're always there when I want one.<br/><br/>Just two wishes:<br/>1. Could I get a free one with every dozen?<br/>2. Could they open a Siegel's on the East Side...please?
Sofie Novak
Siegal's Bagels has a great variety of bagels that are always fresh. The food is pretty good for a great price. Open 24 hours, which is cool. Siegal's Bagels specializes in bagels, so their other food isn't quite as good. Still fine though.

Delicious. The one word that summarizes this place. The food here is simply delicious. I've always been a bagel fan, though since moving to Vancouver a good bagel place was a bit hard to find. Limited to pre-packaged bland and boring bagels from grocery stores I slowly began to dislike bagels.<br/><br/>One day while driving by however, Siegel's Bagels catches my eye. And what's this? They're open 24 hours. That just seemed absurd to me, a 24 hour bagel store. Now I know why though, their bagels are like crack. You get so addicted to them.<br/><br/>If you're looking for something different, I recommend the Rosemary and Rocksalt bagel, with some Peppercorn cream cheese to give it a real kick. Simply the best bagels I've ever had. As well, if you're a pickle fan, be sure to try their amazing pickles. It's a bit expensive, $1.25 for one, or $5 for a jar of 5 or so. Though it's far worth it. The pickles are just as delicious as the bagels, and are gigantic. Each pickle runs from top to bottom of the jar, and is wider and juicier than any pickle you've ever had.

Mould!. Yes, I picked up a bagel sandwich with cheese and as I was eating and walking saw the mould and the fungus. Aaooo. disgusted. Stay away!
Pierre
The ONLY place for bagels in Vancouver. Joel got it right following some old traditional methods used in Montreal...and infused some new ingredients as well, try the rosemary & rock salt bagel...awesome, just don't eat 1/2 dozen or you'll need a gallon of water! A little pricey though for the smoked meat sandwich...just wish it was bigger like Schwartz' in MTL...Go Tuesdays for the discount for a dozen...

Scrumptious!. Simply stated: Siegel's bagels are some of the best-to-toast bagels I have ever had, especially the sesame-seed crusted variety. <br/><br/>The secret to Siegel's unique style bagels is the method of pre-boiling, and then fire-oven baking, making a chewier (and crispier when toasted) bagel with a larger hole, and smaller appearance. It may just be my opinion, but Siegel's bagels seem to make up for their smaller form by having twice the flavour of your average supermarket bagel.<br/><br/>Other than bagels, Siegel's also does a mean fresh deli sandwich, and a variety of other fine baking. I particularily enjoy their poppy-seed and honey hamantashen. Highly recommended.
Frank Mcgee
Terrible bagels. Everyone likes to claim Montreal style bagels. Did I miss it and Montreal start producing limited choice, old, soggy, bagels? If so, yes they do Montreal style.
James TM
The most amazing bagels that you have ever had and it's worth driving from anyware for their hot Montreal smoked meat NOT JOKEING THE BEST THING THAT YOU WILL EVER TASTE you will not regrett your visit

Bagels at Their Best. The bagel place in town. So many faves and great selection of cream cheeses.

Let go my Siegel's Bagels!. The first time I had a Siegel's Bagel, I fell in love. They were still sold at Costco at the time and after the first bite, my family and I were hooked. Then they stopped selling to Costco, and so we begrudgingly settled for other kinds of bagels, until we found out about the Granville Island location. Even then, Siegel's became a once-in-a-while treat. I've since moved away from Vancouver, but every time I go back (about once a year) or every time someone visits us in the States, my only request is Siegel's from Granville Island. Usually I get about 2 dozen brought to me: I eat 6 in the first 2 days (luckily they are low fat!), then freeze the rest and savor them for the next few months. Now that I've turned my two toddlers onto Siegel's though, I have to fight them for my bagel. Sometimes I try to give them another brand while I havce my Siegel, but they always call me out on it. I wish Siegel's ship to the US (or ship anywhere at all!)...I would totally pay the s/h for it!
Lopan Eats
The spinach bagel is served warm and was decent in flavor, though had a frozen spinach taste. Lo Pan can never have enough cheese so he was also left a little underwhelmed by the amount of feta used. The pastry for the stuffed bagels is softer and lighter than their regular bagels. The light softness works well in that it is not to be too dense or overpowering for the stuffing. <br/>

In the end, Siegel’s isn’t a bad place to visit for a quick lunch, although you can probably get cheaper and/or more extraordinary sandwiches elsewhere.

Siegel’s Bagels sells authentic Montreal-style bagels in Kitsilano. After coming back from a trip, we decided to stop here for a quick lunch. I’ve heard much about this place, but I’ve actually never been here. I wanted to see if it was true that it’s like a Montreal Bagel. The Kitsilano location is open 24 hours and have lot of sandwiches to choose from. They even have Montreal smoked meat. Lot of bagels to choose from. They make it all in-house and are fresh. Club Bagel  ($8.50) has Montreal smoked meat, golden turkey breast, tomato, lettuce, cheddar, mustard and mayo. Their Montreal smoked meat is pretty awesome. It has a great combination of ingredients. Lox and Cream ($8.95) has smoked sockeye salmon, cream cheese, onions, and capers. It’s quite pricey for what you get, but the combination of the cream cheese, salmon and capers is sure yummy. I got it on a multigrain bagel because I love the texture of the grains on the outside. Overall, great bagels and its great they are made fr

A couple weeks ago my friend brought me to Siegel's Bagels for some bagel sandwiches and bagels to bring home. Siegel's Bagels sells authentic Montreal Style Bagels . There was an in house wood burning oven to baked the bagels, and there were more than 10 flavors of bagels to choose from. I ordered a Candied Smoked Salmon Bagel on everything bagel for my lunch. I had a really high expectation for my salmon bagel, because I absolutely love smoked salmon bagels. This
