Review Italia Bella Bar & Grill Restaurant - Vancouver

Have ordered take out via uber eats twice for myself and colleagues and must say 11/10. Food is delicious, portions are huge, order notes are followed and packaging is well done. Every time I order pasta it’s been enough for two decent meals. The garlic cheese bread is fantastic! New go to pasta place for me and my coworkers! Photos are of take out dish in my own dishes.

I made a request to eat at home, and everything arrived very good! Very hot and tasty, the pesto comes with very tasty pinoli ... This garlic bread in the photo is simply wonderful haha I wanted more. The size of the plate is quite large. We also ordered the apple pie which is very good, next time I'll order tiramissu. I highly recommend this place ... If you order online you can have a little piece of Italy at home ❤️

Awesome italian resurant. Meatballs were most with nice Oregano. Bigger pork chop i expect. Nice pepper sauce with grilled/slight charred pork chop. Nice meaty bolognase sauce with the side of spaghetti served with it. Also enjoyed banana ice cream dessert that was perfect. Not too suite Carmel sauce. Would defiantly go back to try other options when back in town.

We came because of great reviews. And it did not disappoint. Food was so wonderful. All our orders were vegetarian dishes and they did not disappoint. All three of our orders were so good I wanted to go back for dinner. Staff were very friendly. Highly recommended!!!

This is a decent restaurant by a hotel on Kingsway. Lots of tourists come here. The prices are middle of the road and the food is acceptable. This is probably the place to go to in the neighborhood for Italian food without going to Commercial Drive.

This is another Trip Advisor hidden gem. We were headed to the Biltmore for dinner so I was looking for somewhere nearby and this fit the bill (easy walking distance). When we arrived on Friday night at 6:15 I felt a bit silly having a reservation but the restaurant quickly filled up. In hindsight I'm glad I called that afternoon to reserve. The place is unassuming but the service and the food were both very good. I had a yummy chicken penne and my dining partner had chicken that was a very big portion. The chef sent out complimentary bruschetta to start and it was also very good. Dinner was fairly priced, very tasty, nicely presented, and filling. What more do you want? I would definitely eat here again and recommend it.

I came in and it was quite empty. Probably, at the most seven customers. You enter thru the bar and on the left hand side an intimate quiet table for dining. I was immediately attented yet It took awhile for her to come back for my order. Later on, I found out she's also tending to some drinks. She's by herself. I ordered the Caprese salad, decent. Tomatoes, capers, olives, boconcinni on bed of shredded lettuce drizzled in balsamic vinegar and olive oil. For my entree, had the pomodoro based Von Gole spaghettini. Al dente, lots of fresh clams and served with two slices of toasted focaccia. The only minor faux pas, the chef sprinkled parmessan on my pasta. All in all, still very enjoyable and happy solo dining.

We enjoyed our dinner here tonight. My husband is celiac but they were able to accommodate us. We had the fresh mussels and clams as an appetizer with their hoyse white wine. For mains, we had their seafood risotto, jumbo Alaskan scallop with gluten free Penne. Our waiter was kind enough to bring us some artichokes, olives and mushrooms as we finished the last of our wine (the house Italian). For dessert, we had their Banana Dora (lovely)! Overall a very nice place. Pleasant server, prompt service, great Italian an music in an upscale casual environment. The reason it’s only 4 stars was flavour. The appetizer was fantastic but both our mains were bland (the risotto being the better of the two as the penne was a little too al dente for us and really needed some flavour. The house wines are okay but unremarkable. (We tried both red and white). That said, the dessert was lovely. Highly recommended and they treated us (in true Italian style) to a shot of Amaretto. Reasonable prices and great if you’re early for a show at The Biltmore!

Excellent selection of great delicious pasta dishes, chef's board daily specials, red and white wines, and cocktail drinks, awesome place to eat and celebrate... Their Italia Bella Pizza Special, awesome, tasty, scrumptious, enticing, divine, superb, most excellent, ham, pepporni, Salomi, and I asked for green pepper and onions, so very delicious, fresh, mouthwatering, every bite, soon good, great experience eating pizza.

I have already given my reviews on all other platforms as a “big thanks “ that how good they are be it food quality or service. This time I would really like to congratulate the cooks and the staff for doing the great job. The chief “Kevin”who helped me half of the time with my food order with little change with my order. He is happy to be flexible according to what you like and your food is always served with a big smile by the servers which make it more delicious. Great job every time 🙏👍🏻
First time here. The service was fantastic. The environment is very nice. The pasta is especially great. I would definitely come back again. Highly recommended.
I ate breakfast at this place the first day of a vacation. Absolutely vile. The eggs were cooked in some kind of greasy oil and were inedible, and the steak (the only thing I ate off my plate and the only thing I ended up eating the whole vacation) GAVE ME FOOD POISONING. I spent the rest of my vacation delirious and sick. Do not bother with this dive.

Originally I was going to have Italian food for dinner with my friend at another Italian restaurant but it was full and it didn't take reservation, so my friend had picked this restaurant and I said sure to give it a try. I called to reserve a table for two. Indeed there was no need to reserve at this restaurant because it was not busy at all. When my friend and I arrived at this restaurant, there were only a few customers. The restaurant was big but quite empty. It was kind of sad when a restaurant was not busy at all on Sunday night.

My friend and I ordered the linguine vongole (clams) and linguine carbonara. Waiting for the food was quite long. The server was quite friendly giving us some water. We didn't want any other drinks. That was totally fine. After a long wait, finally the food had arrived along with a small basket of garlic bread. I thought that I would feel happier if the server gave us the garlic bread earlier when we were waiting for the food.

The presentation of the dish or the food was quite nice. The texture of the linguine was about right. There were many clams. Only the sauce was quite salty. The linguine carbonara was ok. I had better linguine carbonara at Brown Social House.

The price was average. It was not too expensive. The service was great. The ambiance was ok. But probably I would not want to go back for Italian food as there are many good ones out there.

I don't give out a 5 very often because very few places meet my criteria for a 5. You have to be exceptional on cleanliness, presentation, taste, and service. This place meets those criteria easily. Price plays a factor in my reviews, too.

Came here on Nov 19, 2015 and enjoyed it so much I came back again on Nov 20. On the 19th I started with calamari and had the linguine pescatore for my main. The calamari was crispy and the spicy dipping sauce is a nice break from garlicky stuff you usually get. The main was wonderful; full of seafood that was fresh and cooked perfectly. Was lightly sauced which is fine by me (doesn't mask the flavour of the seafood).

On Nov 20, I started with the seafood chowder (since seafood was a winner the day before) and had the lamb shank for my main. The chowder was another winner, had huge chunks of fish and plenty of seafood that you could see. It wasn't full of scraps that you sometimes get at restaurants. The lamb was amazing, fell right off the bone and was presented beautifully.

Both meals were around $30 each including tax and tip. Rarely can you find food as delicious as this for that price. Service was spot on. It isn't fast food, people. Good food takes time to make and for it to come out hot like it should. Lots of free street parking a block away (if you're not lucky enough to get anything right on Kingsway). Don't let the exterior fool you; it's worth finding.

Could have been a lot better, mashed potatoes tasted like they were reheated in a microwave, ribs were dry, calamari very rubbery. Will never eat here again.

This place is great! Hard to find decent Italian food at a fair price in Mount Pleasant, and Italia Bella fits that bill. Consistently good food and prices are very reasonable. Recommend!

Great value and taste, you won't be disappointed! As long as you don't mind its hotel-like decor but it's spacious and free parking in front.

Liked the seafood penne with tomato sauce.

Slow service, good food. The Italia Bella Bar & Grill located in vancouver next to a best western has an atmosphere appropriate of a restaurant located next to a hotel; a normal "Dennys" feel. Upon arriving the restaurant had a couple tables present no more than 4 people. My party of 4 was waiting at the door looking at our soon to be server text before she came to set us. When we were sat, we advised our server that we could have up to 3 joiners coming. Our server sat us and then disappeared for at least 10 minutes before coming back for our drink order. After she took that, another group of roughly 16 people came in and was placed together. Our server then took the new parties drink orders before returning with ours. Then another party of 10 came into the restaurant. Keep in mind this is a friday night. Now being the first table there we order our appetizers first and meals first, and hour and 20 minutes after arriving. There was no comment made or warning that service may be delayed to the large number of patrons in an understaffed restaurant. the larger group of 16 people was then served all of their food first and received much more adequate service than the rest of the restaurant. We split our appetizer and then waited for another 45 minutes before our main courses came out, once again after the table of 16 people. The food was delicious. Hands down the best homestyle italian cuisine i have ever had. Knowing how long everything took, my table ordered our desert, a new york style cheesecake, early knowing that it would take a while. When the cheesecake came out one piece was the appropriate temperature and the other is warm. after getting our receipt i politely asked for a discount due to the slow service and mishandled food. At this time i was met by an aggressive server yelling at me saying how difficult her night was, how she's the only one on and she's loosing money now and not apologizing once for the delayed service. The advice i would give to this restaurant is keep up your food but watch your device. I am a professional food expediter, server, bartender and competition chef in Alberta. I have had people come into my restaurant close to closing after hockey games, tables of multiple 20-30 where it was myself 2 cooks and a bartender. Our servers handle large tables by order of entry, not size of table and who we think will tip more. Also even if your customers ask for a discount i do not recommend yelling at them about how bad your tips are, i understand this. At the end our service was bad and other tables were being served before us after we came in. I would not return.

In response to "Terrible service, taking advantage of youths".. Since serving you last night I haven't been able to get this experience off of my mind. Probably because I have never served a group of teenagers that have treated me with such disrespect and entitlement. Let's get some things straight first. You had come in as a group of four saying a few more may come. Everything was fine, I got your drinks told you the specials and continued to serve my other customers while you waited for your party. All of a sudden 20 people come in asking to move around tables, which is fine. I let you know it was just me working and two people in the kitchen when I was dropping off your drinks because no matter how fast and efficient I am, getting that many root beer refills on the other side of the restaurant is going to take time. I meant no disrespect when I said that when you're older and you have job you might understand how hard servers work. I didn't say when you have "real" jobs because let's be honest, i'm a server. I don't want to be doing this forever. When I was a teenager I would go to restaurants and not know how to act, I wouldn't leave tips. I didn't know how terrible I was being and I cringe back at those days wishing I was more enlightened. That being said, I have a golden rule, I won't judge a table until they give me reason otherwise. Asking for things half for here and half to go and then all to go again didn't make me serve you any less. It was actually until the very end when you asked for discounts. You made a point to say "I work in the business" as if you could do my job better. Personally when I go out to eat and a server is extremely slammed, I won't ask a million questions or at the very least i'll respect that they're working hard. In fact, with that large of a party I would call ahead. I guess that's just me and my level of respect, though. Now you say that the food came out in the wrong order. So since you work in the business you should know, when you get a large party like that you need to do things in order, especially because it's all going to be separate bills. You were one party. I took your order starting at one end to the other. They came out in that order, end of story. If you were in a rush you could have told me in the beginning and I would have been happy to let the kitchen know ahead of time. Once again I was the only server working that night, there were two people in the kitchen. I made no mistakes on your orders, your food came out as fast as the kitchen could. I refilled your drinks as much as I could. And at the end? I had to pay to serve your table. I lost money because I had to tip out on your party. I make $9 dollars an hour. I need to pay rent, this is my livelihood. These things happen though, I get that. Next time when a server checks back to see how you're doing, that would be your go ahead to complain about the food. Not when you've already eaten it and you've come up to pay. Just some friendly advice.

Terrible service, taking advantage of youths. My high school team was visiting Vancouver from out of town and were looking for dinner when several of us decided on Italian! The reviews were great, but we were soon disappointed.
We arrived around 8pm, but did not receive our food until 9:16pm! Food came out in the wrong order, food was poorly made and when we asked for a discount the server made disparaging comments about our ages and how when we grew up we would understand what it was like to have a real job.
We weren't able to get out of there until 10pm!
So rude! Just terrible. It ruined our night in Vancouver for sure!

Nice Little Surprise. In the age of hipster pretention and all manner of over hyped crap, It's rfreshing to find a little spot like this. Hidden away understated but the food is really, really well done. This is the kind of home-cooked fare in a neighbourhood setting that you have fantasies about. Give it a try, you won' be disappointed.

Best delivery Italian in East Van!. Italia Bella hands down makes the best homestyle Italian food in East Vancouver. As a displaced American, this reminds me of the Italian food in NY and San Francisco - and makes me really happy.

Keep up the good work you guys!
Hey guys! On a gorgeous Wednesday, Team Tastic was feeling adventurous. We landed at the intersection of Kingsway and Main, did a quick “Nearby” search on Urbanspoon and landed at Italia Bella Bar and Grill . Serving a variety of Western, Italian, and British food, was this worth the spontaneity or should you plan your outings more carefully on Kingsway? Read on to find out. Food: I got a good taste of the Calamari , Turkey Dinner with Gravy , and the Eggs Benny . The Calamari came out first and boy did it look good. Sometimes calamari can come out dripping with oil at Greek restaurants but here it was light on the frying and big on the flavour. The chili sauce was an interesting spin on the usual tzatziki sauce but I’m okay with spice. Calamari Afterwards came the Eggs Benny. Decorated with scalloped potatoes and smoked ham, this was a pretty average benny. The hollandaise sauce did its job of smothering down the runny egg but compared to say The Flying Pig , it might be best to leave the bennies for an actual brunch spot. Eggs Benny The Turkey Dinner was a winner here . Deemed a holiday entree, the turkey was smothered in steaming gravy that wasn’t too salty. There was plenty of gravy to go around for the mashed potato and the meat was quite tender. You never know how branching out of a traditional cuisine will go but the Turkey Dinner was a great idea gone well. Now we don’t have to go all the way to Harrison Mills for a Turkey Dinner ! Turkey Dinner Features: This is a medium sized restaurant that can hold about 60 guests. When we entered the bar area was closed but you can still order a drink from the menu. The washrooms were pretty good here; there was no liquid on the floor of the menu’s washroom which is a good sign. Inside Italia Bella Bar and Grill Service: Service was very kind here. The staff thought Team Tastic wanted its dishes one after another when we actually wanted our entrees at the same time but once we clarified they apologized and got right

Hidden Treasure - Gourmet Surprise!. We had the pleasure of dining in this Hidden Treasure every night we stayed in Vancouver. The Waitress "Karli" and the Chef "Kam" are not only wonderful people, but also outstanding in their field. We were very pleasantly surprised by the gourmet food. This restaurant is a little off the beaten path, but so very well worth making the effort to find it. You will not be disappointed in this place. We enjoyed a variety of dinners and every time the food was amazing. We enjoyed the grilled veggies as well. Also, Karli made us the very best gourmet Hot Cocoa we have ever had!! Thanks to you both!

Came here for breakfast while waiting for my windshield to be fixed. Fast, polite service, with decent coffee and an affordable price. The hashbrowns were a bit underdone, but other than that it was great.

Marginally edible breakfast. I've seen a lot of great reviews of the restaurant--they seem to describe a different place than what I experienced. Our expectations were not very high for a restaurant downstairs from the Best Western, but I was hoping to have a basic, greasy spoon type breakfast--nothing fancy.

The staff were very friendly and accommodating. However, the food did not make up for it. My wife and I both ordered the breakfast special. The eggs were okay--they even made a scrambled egg on the side for our 1-year-old son.

The bacon was limp and tasted like it was a few days old. The hash brown potatoes were soggy instead of crispy, with some of them underdone. They tasted like they'd been cooked in the rancid bacon fat. I finished the hash browns, toast and eggs because I was hungry, and left the bacon. I'm usually not a fussy eater.

I hope that my experience was an isolated one.

Great food. We were staying at the Best Western and ordered room service 3 nights in a row. It was quite prompt, We ordered a different chicken entree for the 1st 2 nights. The chicken was cooked perfectly as were the veggies which was a combination of 3-4 different vegetables. Took a chance and ordered the salmon the 3rd night thinking it would be over cooked. Not so! Perfect and great sauce. I would highly recommend the food. My only negative thing to say was the Caesar Salad paled (was still tasty) compared to there regular salad (comparing value for your dollar) which was fresh and plentiful.

Very Impressed. I was very pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. The food was excellent and the Specials were very well thought out. I was very happy to find local beer on tap and the Banana Doria dessert was the funnest thing that I have ever put in my mouth. I was very happy and I wish that I could have had several more meals here. I was treated very well and I was impressed by the friendliness. Thank you!

Great Food, Great Atmosphere, Great Service. My friend and I stopped in for dinner a couple of weeks ago, and were greeted by a very friendly server.
Our table was in a quiet corner, well lit, and we enjoyed the music that was playing. My friend ordered soup
since she wasn't too hungry, and I ordered the salmon fillet. Our orders came at the same time, nice and hot, and beautifully presented. It was a very warm and welcome experience.

Fantastic. We ate both our dinners at the Italia Bella during our 2 day stay in Vancouver, BC. It is an outstanding, little known, restaurant that will make you feel you are sitting in Italy (we were in Rome in March 2014), The seafood pasta dishes were outstanding with amazingly fresh seafood and homemade pasta. We thoroughly enjoyed the mussel & clam appetizer both nights. And their desserts are outstanding, straight out of Italy. When we return to Vancouver, this will be on the top of our list for a return visit(s).

Italia Bella Grill - FANTASTIC!!!. My husband and I keep coming here all the time. As a matter of fact, when we are in Vancouver this is the ONLY place that we eat. We've had breakfast (great breakfast special at $5.95 includes eggs, choice of ham, bacon or sausages, pancakes or hash browns (which are to die for) and toast. We have tried almost everything on the menu and my absolute favourite is the Lamb Shank. It is superb!!
Kam's staff are excellent and very courteous. They know the menu well and if there is something that you cannot eat, the chef Kam will do what ever he can to fix something to your liking.
As we are from Prince George, it's too bad that we have to wait so long to come here but it's certainly worth it. I guarantee that you will like anything you choose from the menu. Bon appetite !!
Bruce & Marilyn Rayner, Prince George, BC

Home away from Home. We spent the first 2 nights of our Honeymoon dining at Italia, Bella when we were in Vancouver. All the stuff made us feel like one of the family and were extremely courteous and helpful. My new husband is Italian and he ordered the same meal 2 nights in a row. Highly recommend this restaurant to anyone!

And their plan worked !
We came for dinner as we discovered they were actually an Italian restaurant (used to be the be Salt & Pepper Grill)
Ok so new owner - new chef. We like to give people a fair go.
We've now tried everything from Calamari to Steaks to Back Ribs to Salmon to Pasta and Canneloni and they are all cooked so perfectly.
The steaks - my dad and I both medium - PERFECT ! - Vegetables grilled peppers Zucchini potatoes asparagus
We all loved our meals and came back the next night before my Dad flew out for Aus again.
Seriously after 10 different meals over 2 nights - everyone was happy !
These people are trying to provide great food at an incredibly good price..
We will go back again and again.

Great restaurant. Great little restaurant - very helpful waitress came outside while we were looking at posted menu and offered assistance (I'm on a restricted diet). Said her chef could do anything! She was right. He kindly prepared sauce-free food and then garnished it beautifully. An excellent meal with an excellent waitress. A great intro to Vancouver BC

Service was quick here; I barely had time to adjust my camera to the restaurant’s lighting before the food landed on the table. However, the tomato sauce gnocchi and penne alfredo tasted very standard. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t great.
