I was visiting Halifax and wanted to try something different. Someone recommended Baan Thai, and I must say it was like a blessing to try something this good in Halifax. If you want to try "authentic" thai food then you should visit this place. Unfortunately I couldn't make it on time for the lunch special and they have a pretty good deal for the lunch special. I guess it was good that I didn't make it on time, because I had a bigger menu to choose from.
We ordered the Red Curry, Penang Curry, Thai fried rice and Pad thai. Everything we ordered was made to perfection. It reminded me of my days when I visited Bangkok and had the best Thai food.
I prefer the red curry because it had that spicy kick to it and it went well with the rice.
Overall this place is good and I am a Fan !

The service was excellent. Unfortunately the food was disappointing. The noodles in the pad thai were overcooked and the dish lacked flavour complexity The duck curry was unimpressive.
Our favorite Thai restaurant in the city. They really know how to make cashew chicken and pad thai...those are our staples. Their spring rolls aren't what they used to be, but still good. Very friendly staff!
Delicious. Came here with my partner for his birthday and we both loved the food. I ordered the green curry and he had the pad thai, both were delicious! For dessert we had the sticky rice with mango and it was heavenly. Definitely coming back here next time I'm in Halifax.
Just had another amazing meal at Baan Thai. The food is consistently amazing. As usual we got the Penang curry, chicken satay, shrimp pad Thai, and mango salad. Since we one more person we got to throw in some extra dishes. We got the garden rolls, golden pouches (which are now a new addition to our regular order). We also tried the duck curry which had a creamy, flavourful sauce with bursts of perfectly cooked fruit. The golden pouches were crispy and tasty with a delicious pork dumpling-like filling. Wouldn't change a thing about the meal. Everyone left extremely satisfied and our server (who was wonderfully sweet and attentive) told the chef that we had a birthday at the table an they brought us a complimentary dessert of deep fried bananas wrapped in filo pastry with chocolate drizzled over top. No one could have been happier by the time we left.
A staple. I've eaten here 100+ times. Lunch specials are $10 for a ton of healthy food. Dinners are great with my gf as she is gluten-free. They are friendly, will make custom meals, and there is always lots of space. Calling ahead for pickup is a great option if you don't have time to sit. They will get to know you soon and treat you like gold. Try the coconut soup, curries, and, oh, everything. Beef is not their best but still decent. The rest is amazing.

As good as it gets. I've eaten in all of Halifax's Thai restaurants, and think this one is, on balance, the best. It's easy to overlook - it's hidden away on a second floor on a fairly nondescript, and sometimes noisy, side street, but the restaurant itself is unexpectedly nicely decorated, and quiet. The staff are charming and helpful, the portions are generous, the prices reasonable, and the service prompt. And, oh, the food is very good.
My Favorite Thai Restaurant in Halifax. With a number of great Thai restaurants in Halifax, in my opinion Baan Thai still remains the best. All of the food is authentic, so if you're looking for generic "Canadian-Thai" cuisine this is NOT the place for you. The location is convenient to most everywhere down town, and the prices are certainly reasonable, especially at lunch time. Service can be slower if the restaurant is busy, but I've never had a bad meal there, and have heard nothing but good things from those I've recommended it to. One of the owners are almost always on site, and are usually happy to help explain dishes to first-timers or make recommendations to the more experienced.

Decent. Pleasant and attentive staff. Great massaman and green curry dishes and the spring rolls were tasty. Pad Thai is solid but you have to request extra kick as always.
Impressed that they are extra creative with their food prep. Enjoyed the Baan Thai appetizer plate. Ordered green curry with chicken that comes with spring roll and salad and sweet and sour beef that comes with spring roll and salad too. Food tastes great! Would come back for sure.
Phenomenal service, food came out fast and hot and fresh - every separate seafood ingredient in my soup was cooked to perfection so it's clear they've got some professionals who know their timing in the kitchen.
I enjoyed green curry yesterday. A little sweet but it is delicious as the original taste.
My husband and I have tried many dishes, including the buffet, all are authentic, and so fresh, not made until you order. The green curry is the best in Halifax! The ginger lunch special is so flavorful. Atmosphere is peaceful and staff so friendly. Well worth the stop.
Great dinning experience. Bright and very clean. Inviting atmosphere. Food was delish, however haven eaten in Thailand several times I think I should have asked to keep it to the original "spice" level. The food was not as spicy hot as I would have liked. Overall great experience!
Quick and tasty. Had the Pad Thai lunch special which comes with salad and spring roll. I visited at the end of a lunch time so it was quite empty and quiet which I enjoyed. Many intricate wood carvings on the walls and ceiling. Comfortable casual dining with relaxing music in the background. Friendly casual staff/owner.
I always have a great dining experience at Baan Thai. The food comes quickly, looks and tastes great. Their details in presentation are a nice touch.
The building is undergoing renos at the end of the month so this might be the last time you get to dine here, give it a chance.
The food is not that good. Me and my girlfriend ordered chicken pad thai , she asked for spicy and they gave her pepper and chiliflakes on the side of her dish.
The atmosphere of this place is excellent. There is an equal amount of green space around the whole dining area and there is alot of amazing wood decorations. It makes the place feel authenthic/natural.
A must visit! Baan Thai is the most authentic Thai food in Halifax. Not only is it affordable, but the food and atmosphere are wonderful. I eat here about once a month and don't plan on stopping anytime soon.
Best experience!! I wasn't sure what to expect at first. Staff was great. We must have tried 12 different dishes and every single one was delicious! Highly Recommend Baan Thai.
