My husband and I have tried many dishes, including the buffet, all are authentic, and so fresh, not made until you order. The green curry is the best in Halifax! The ginger lunch special is so flavorful. Atmosphere is peaceful and staff so friendly. Well worth the stop.

Great dinning experience. Bright and very clean. Inviting atmosphere. Food was delish, however haven eaten in Thailand several times I think I should have asked to keep it to the original "spice" level. The food was not as spicy hot as I would have liked. Overall great experience!

Quick and tasty. Had the Pad Thai lunch special which comes with salad and spring roll. I visited at the end of a lunch time so it was quite empty and quiet which I enjoyed. Many intricate wood carvings on the walls and ceiling. Comfortable casual dining with relaxing music in the background. Friendly casual staff/owner.

I always have a great dining experience at Baan Thai. The food comes quickly, looks and tastes great. Their details in presentation are a nice touch.
The building is undergoing renos at the end of the month so this might be the last time you get to dine here, give it a chance.

The food is not that good. Me and my girlfriend ordered chicken pad thai , she asked for spicy and they gave her pepper and chiliflakes on the side of her dish.
The atmosphere of this place is excellent. There is an equal amount of green space around the whole dining area and there is alot of amazing wood decorations. It makes the place feel authenthic/natural.

A must visit! Baan Thai is the most authentic Thai food in Halifax. Not only is it affordable, but the food and atmosphere are wonderful. I eat here about once a month and don't plan on stopping anytime soon.

This is my favourite of Halifax's many Thai restaurants. It's hidden on a second floor, on a side street, but nicely decorated and quiet, with very friendly staff. The portions are generous, and the food fresh tasting.The pad thai is also very good.When you dine here, take a minute and look at the art on the walls. They are covered in wood carvings, they really need to be seen, truly works of art. The decor is relaxing and natural.

I was visiting Halifax and wanted to try something different. Someone recommended Baan Thai, and I must say it was like a blessing to try something this good in Halifax. If you want to try "authentic" thai food then you should visit this place. Unfortunately I couldn't make it on time for the lunch special and they have a pretty good deal for the lunch special. I guess it was good that I didn't make it on time, because I had a bigger menu to choose from. <br/><br/>We ordered the Red Curry, Penang Curry, Thai fried rice and Pad thai. Everything we ordered was made to perfection. It reminded me of my days when I visited Bangkok and had the best Thai food. <br/><br/>I prefer the red curry because it had that spicy kick to it and it went well with the rice. <br/><br/>Overall this place is good and I am a Fan ! <br/><br/>Service:5.0<br/>Ambience: 4.0<br/>Quality: 4.5

First experience at Baan - service was great but getting there was a challenge. The directions from this app were a few streets off so I had to google the address which eventually led me to the correct street. There is very limited parking so I suggest looking for a place to park around the area first. The restaurant was clean, tidy and decorated nicely! I ordered the pad thia which was just fair in my opinion. It was very similar to the Thia Express pad Thia. Probably wouldn't order that dish again but I would try some of their other dishes.

Are you in for an experience!!. My wife & I have eaten at Thai restaurants all over North America and this one is "TOP NOTCH". Their menu is extensive and provides excellent value for your money by keeping their prices reasonable. The food is amazing, each dish cooked to perfection, beautiful! They offer a buffet on Friday's and I believe on the weekend also. This is definitely worth holding out for. If we lived in Halifax I'd make a point of trying everything on the menu, there's hundreds of items. The waitresses here are excellent, friendly courteous. Enjoy you meal, we sure did!

Our favorite Thai restaurant in the city. They really know how to make cashew chicken and pad thai...those are our staples. Their spring rolls aren't what they used to be, but still good. Very friendly staff!

Delicious. Came here with my partner for his birthday and we both loved the food. I ordered the green curry and he had the pad thai, both were delicious! For dessert we had the sticky rice with mango and it was heavenly. Definitely coming back here next time I'm in Halifax.

Just had another amazing meal at Baan Thai. The food is consistently amazing. As usual we got the Penang curry, chicken satay, shrimp pad Thai, and mango salad. Since we one more person we got to throw in some extra dishes. We got the garden rolls, golden pouches (which are now a new addition to our regular order). We also tried the duck curry which had a creamy, flavourful sauce with bursts of perfectly cooked fruit. The golden pouches were crispy and tasty with a delicious pork dumpling-like filling. Wouldn't change a thing about the meal. Everyone left extremely satisfied and our server (who was wonderfully sweet and attentive) told the chef that we had a birthday at the table an they brought us a complimentary dessert of deep fried bananas wrapped in filo pastry with chocolate drizzled over top. No one could have been happier by the time we left.

A staple. I've eaten here 100+ times. Lunch specials are $10 for a ton of healthy food. Dinners are great with my gf as she is gluten-free. They are friendly, will make custom meals, and there is always lots of space. Calling ahead for pickup is a great option if you don't have time to sit. They will get to know you soon and treat you like gold. Try the coconut soup, curries, and, oh, everything. Beef is not their best but still decent. The rest is amazing.

As good as it gets. I've eaten in all of Halifax's Thai restaurants, and think this one is, on balance, the best. It's easy to overlook - it's hidden away on a second floor on a fairly nondescript, and sometimes noisy, side street, but the restaurant itself is unexpectedly nicely decorated, and quiet. The staff are charming and helpful, the portions are generous, the prices reasonable, and the service prompt. And, oh, the food is very good.

My Favorite Thai Restaurant in Halifax. With a number of great Thai restaurants in Halifax, in my opinion Baan Thai still remains the best. All of the food is authentic, so if you're looking for generic "Canadian-Thai" cuisine this is NOT the place for you. The location is convenient to most everywhere down town, and the prices are certainly reasonable, especially at lunch time. Service can be slower if the restaurant is busy, but I've never had a bad meal there, and have heard nothing but good things from those I've recommended it to. One of the owners are almost always on site, and are usually happy to help explain dishes to first-timers or make recommendations to the more experienced.<br/><br/>Great Food, Great Location, Great Service, Great Price.

Bad service, even worse food. Looked at and the menu outside the door and saw that vegetarian pad thai was $11 so I thought why not and went upstairs. When I was seated however the menu's prices were all raised from the one posted outside. I asked the waitress and she gave a rude reply that they were increased new prices. Why don't they take the old one down if it's old? It's just misleading to customers.<br/>Decided to give it a try and ordered the veggie pad thai anyway. It took forever because there was only that one rude waitress, was a small portion, and was the worst pad thai I've had at a thai restaurant in halifax. Definitely not worth the wait or price. You are much better off spending your money at another thai place, like chabaa or talay.

Ambiance is good, service was decent and the menu is diverse. The lettuce wraps were delicious! Don't go for dinner if ur traveling solo though, as they will not make smaller meal sizes for one person.

Loved the atmospehere. Being from a state where we expect exceptional service, not having my water refilled while eating was hard to accept, but other than that the food was great and the atmosphere was even better.<br/><br/>I had the Maman curry, Tom Yah soup and sticky mango rice. The curry could have used a little more peanut flavor (person opinion). The soup was excellent, full of vegetables with a wonderful rich coconut taste. I do wish they had smaller portions available so I could have tried more dishes.

Naan Thai is easily one of the area's beat Thai restaurants. The menu prices are not too high and offer excellent value. The pad Thai is a classic dish and perfect for take out. Cashew chicken and glass noodle salad are also favorites. Caution: one order of rice is more than enough for two people. The atmosphere is cozy, but be sure to sit next to a window. The owner is friendly and will entertain with a story or two, if prompted. I give Baan Thai an "A"

We went to Baan Thai in Halifax.<br/><br/>I tried their pork lettuce wraps and was absolutely blown away. I dreamed about them for weeks. And then I went back to Baan Thai again and again. They’re still my favourite thing on the menu!<br/><br/>This is the first time I’ve tried making them at home and they turned out amazing. Sort of like an Asian taco, really. With tons of spice and heat and mouth-watering hoisin sauce. Man I love hoisin!
