Dropped by here during my lunch hour. It has been a while since last time I dropped by for their 3 item combo around 3:55pm then said we couldn't order it because the deal ended at 4pm so we left.
Entering restaurant, the restaurant was empty as it just opened not too long ago. There were two male chefs at the sushi bar and one female waitress. The female was on the phone taking order and they were just looking at me. It was a bit awkward as I thought I was going to be asked along the lines of "for here or togo" or "how many?" Anyways I told them just me and I chose my own table to seat myself. It also took a while to receive the menus.
Chirashi Don: Quite a big bowl. Lots of rice. It had good assortment of sashimi. I do wish the sashimi was cut smaller as it was quite chunky. Overall it was tasty. Good price for the amount and size of sashimi.
Negitoro roll: Excellent. Very minced tuna belly. This was definitely a favourite.
Would come back to try their bentos.
The boyfriend and I discovered Osaka Sushi on Skip The Dishes because they offer free delivery on orders over $20. After ordering this for many months, I figure that it was finally time I do a review on this place!
This is a combination of many visits! We usually alternate between these items.
So there I was… sitting in front of my laptop… staring at a picture of some Japanese food… thinking to myself, “where the heck did I take this picture?” Guess that’s what happens when you eat out a lot. Fortunately, I usually jot down a few notes so I finally figured out that this was from Osaka Sushi in North Burnaby.
Just fine. For what you pay, these guys are pretty good.
This place is pretty legit...
Good prices, Good service and pretty good sushi. Id say it's above average. Still not incredible but, it's good. Everything I ate I liked, the box I ordered was great came with a seaweed salad. Will be back again.
What you see above is an example of the $9.95 lunch special; you select three items from a pre-determined list, accompanied by a complimentary miso soup.
Satisfaction and Value. Having tried many sushi restaurants in the lower mainland, I'd have to say that Osaka Sushi on Hastings Street in the Burnaby Heights district, is one of the best sushi places to eat. Sure, there are many sushi restaurants on this strip, but what sets them apart is the consistency of the food; I've been there numerous times before, for lunch and dinner, and it was time to write a review on the courtesy of the staff, to the meal selection, taste, consistency, and added value.
My friends and I enjoy the hospitality and greeting by the servers, the place isn't large by any means but it's cozy and comfortable. The service is quite quick, so if you have a movie to go to, you can be assured that you'll make it in-time.
The selection isn't varied by any means, they have daily specials; their lunch special is a great deal for those who are budget-conscious. Pretty big portions add to those who have a larger appetite.
Yes, this is a place on the frequent charts.
Good Food, Poor Service. I visit Osaka Sushi frequently as it is located in the friendly neighbourhood of Burnaby Heights. The restaurant is a bit small and dim, but clean and conveniently located. The food is usually beautifully presented and the portions generous for what you pay. The love boats and the specialty rolls are a good deal, especially the dragon rolls.
The only drawback is that the service is not the best. The waitresses never crack a smile or come to check on you. I don't know why they look so cranky all the time or not bother to even say hello when approaching to take our order, but other than that it's ok if you are craving sushi in the area.
Lunch Special!. The lunch special here is amazing, I absolutely love how you can customize it. You can choose any 3 items of the lunch special menu and it comes with a miso soup. I had 3 tuna and 3 salmon nigiri as well as a dynamite roll. It was all very good!
Impressed. I tried this place as I wanted to try brown rice sushi. I was truly impressed. The fish is fresh, the portions are generous and it was a very positive experience. Highly recommend it.
