They had a good selection of food for the Sunday brunch. All the staff were very friendly and attentive. Fantastic service over all. I had to take off a point because most of the desserts were too sweet.

Festive Brunch 2016 in the Crystal Ballroom was fairly decent for $45 per adult.  Many of the downtown hotels charge almost double this and require advanced reservations and payment.  It was easy to make a reservations through email, and Elizabeth.Spooner@hilton.com was prompt and professional in taking my reservation.  It was nice that each table had a mini Christmas tree centre-piece and the ballroom was decorated in a festive style.  The spread of food was impressive, however; many of the dishes lacked flavour and served lukewarm.  The staff were gracious and friendly, but were slow to clear our table.  The cold seafood spread had dungeness crab legs, freshly shucked oysters, cocktail shrimp, and smoked fish including salmon, and mussels.  I found the smoked fish to be too salty and the crab legs and prawns to be quite bland, even though the meat had a nice texture.  The egg bennies tasted watery and the hollandaise lacked punch.    Highlights for me were the  dim sum, lamb curry, and prime rib.  The desserts were a let down: the chocolate fondue lacked chocolate flavour and the mango cheesecake bar suffered the same fate.  My hubby downed 4 mimosas but happily volunteered to drive us home because in his words, "The glasses were so tiny that I only consumed the equivalent of 1 drink, and they weren't exactly strong."  Still worth a try if you like the variety a buffet offers, but many of the dishes are hit and miss!

Easter is upon us once again and I’d like to share with you a past Easter brunch buffet experience that I would recommend.  If you are looking for a lovely place to enjoy an Easter meal, you might consider the offerings at the Hilton Metrotown. In 2014, I visited the Reflect Social Dining + Lounge restaurant with some friends and family for an Easter buffet.  We were attracted to the idea of having a hassle-free Easter meal together and the price of $35 per adult seemed quite reasonable.

2nd dine out that I went. Came here with my family. It was my husbands parent first time trying dine out food. They enjoyed it. They had Octopus Carpaccio Salad as appetizers. I had the Mushroom Tarte Flamb. Its pretty good. For the entree, they had lobster and lamb shank. As for me, I had the squash risotto, it's so cheesy which I love it and it made me so full that I couldn't finish it. I gave it to my husband since the lobster wasn't enough. Our dessert was caramal cheesecake and Local Cheese Plate. I'm not super fan of strong cheese. My cheesecake is good, just way too sweet. Service is amazing.

Reflect Social Dining + Lounge was the first dine out I went to this year. I looked into it pretty late and most restaurants were already booked solid, especially since Penguin and I wanted to go during the weekend. I browsed through the endless listings of restaurants and was able to get a reservation at Reflect. Their Dine out menu was offered at $40.

The lounge was pretty peaceful and quiet. The black granite tables were accented with red candle light. However, I found the the lighting inside the restaurant a little too harsh, I would’ve preferred if the light was a little dimmer and warmer in colour. Service was friendly and attentive.

For starters, I ordered the sake Infused Octopus Carpaccio Salad. The thin slices of octopus were tender, but my favourite component of this dish was the octopus bits that were marinated in a wasabi sauce. There’s also kelp, tobiko and radish on the plate. Everything tasted fresh. I couldn’t find the sake anywhere, but the zing from the wasabi and the citrus notes from the ponzu vinaigrette made this a very appetizing starter.

I got the duo of ½ atlantic lobster thermidor and sesame ahi tuna loin for my entree. The portions were on the smaller side and the flavours were underwhelming. The ahi tuna tasted like roasted sesame and tuna and the lobster thermidor tasted like cooked lobster meat mixed in a cream sauce that’s been placed back in its shell. Everything on this dish lacked sodium and seasoning. The red kuri squash puree did not go well with the rest of this dish and the greens under the lobster were in dire need of some sort of vinaigrette.

Penguin has never been to dine out before, ironically, he decided to order off of the regular menu. He got the 10oz. AAA ribeye steak ($30), which was a very good call because it was delicious. The steak was nicely charred on the surface and remained juicy and tender on the inside. There were also a medley of veggies under the steak, the only thing he didn’t like was the artichokes which had a strange sourness. Unlike my entree, Penguin’s steak was very flavourful and filling and he was quite satisfied with it.

For dessert, I opted for the salted caramel cheesecake. The cheesecake was like a New York style cheesecake with a layer of what tasted like melted Werther’s original candies on top. very rich, smooth and decadent, a tad too sweet for me though. The macaron on the side was also too sweet. I thought it’d be a strawberry flavoured macaron but it was just a plain almond one

Hey everyone!  I hope you had a terrific Christmas with love, presents, food and laughter.  If you didn’t celebrate Christmas, I hope you just had a great day off!. My family and I went to the Hilton Vancouver Metrotown for a luxurious Christmas dinner buffet this year.  We had previously been there twice for their Easter Sunday buffets and we had positive experiences both times.

Best brunch ever! It was actually a combination of breakfast, lunch and dinner and had everything. All the expected breakfast items plus fruit, cheeses, eggs benedict, carved prime rib, pasta, crab legs, shrimp, mussels, sushi, dim sum, etc. Unlimited mimosas and coffee. Large selection of desserts. A bit pricey at $34 Canadian? Maybe. The only slip up was that they were not ready at the time they were to open, so there was a bit of a rush around by the staff. The service was excellent. If you like brunch, go there!

Didn't let the server ego ruin my date!. My girlfriend and I were in the Metrotown area and wanted something different to dine other than the "same old, same old" Cactus Club or Earls. We looked up places to eat nearby and noticed Reflect at the Hilton Vancouver Metrotown - we checked out there menu and overall ratings so we decided to give it a shot! The restaurant tucked away in the corner of the 3rd floor; adjoining their lounge. The lounge did look also very appealing as it furnishes 1 huge flat screen and 3 smaller flat screen TV's at the bar playing all your favorite sport games; however as I was here with my girlfriend we opted to go to the dining room for a nice semi-romantic dinner. The hostess seated us and advised that a server would be right with us. It took about 15 minutes for Nathan to appear. From the first moment I saw him I knew right away we were in trouble. The aire he carried himself in was like he was too good to be working there......and then he spoke - this confirmed my fears! He was arrogant and rude the whole time he served us. Gave us very little satisfaction and barely even spoke to us the entire time. His overall body language told me he didn't want to be there. Now I usually would have walked up and left but I didn't let his attitude ruin our dinner. We ordered our meals which were outstanding. The mushroom risotto was the best I ever had. My girlfriend ordered the salmon dinner and it was also a hit; however I would be very hesitant in coming back due to the attitude of this one particular server. I know that this isn't indicative of what the rest of the team was like as they seemed very friendly and from what I saw took pleasure in their job - I hope that Nathan will take a few notes from these guys and do the same :) I will be back - but maybe on a night when Nathan IS NOT working!

For Easter Brunch this year, we decided to go to Reflect Social Dining + Lounge again.  Reflect is located inside the Hilton Metrotown at Crystal Mall.  The brunch was not held inside the restaurant this year, but rather in the Crystal Ballroom to accommodate a larger number of people.  We had a positive experience last Easter from dining at Reflect and we were looking forward to another good one. The price per adult was $32.95, which is less expensive than the Easter buffets in Downtown Vancouver.  There were two seatings: 10:30 am and 1 pm.  I made the reservation via Opentable for the later seating and they called me a few days before to confirm the reservation.  Parking is available within Crystal Mall parking lot and there is no charge. Reflect Social Easter Brunch Menu Their Easter Brunch menu had mimosas, made-to-order eggs Benedict, roast beef, seafood and desserts (of course!).  Here is a screenshot of their Easter Brunch menu. The Food Some highlights of the brunch included the delicious made-to-order eggs benedict with smoked salmon. For the waffle-lover, there was no shortage of waffles. Oyster, crab-legs, mussels and prawns were part of the seafood bar. The sushi station had assorted rolls.  The sushi was not the best compared to a really good sushi restaurants in Vancouver, but still okay. If you fancied some dim sum, there were har gow and shu mai. A pretty good selection of seasonal salads. People enjoyed the fondue fountain with fresh fruit. The dessert table was well-stocked with assorted cakes, tortes, fresh pastries and gelato. The Setting The Easter brunch was very family-friendly.  They even had an entertainer make animal balloons and had a colouring contest.  A DJ was on-site to provide entertainment music.  My only disappointment was that the brunch was not at the restaurant.  The Crystal Ballroom was a typical ballroom which was dark and had no natural lighting.  There were a variety of tables set up including banquet, long and small tables.

Valentine's Day 2015. I made a somewhat last minute reservation for Valentine's Day at Reflect, not enitrely sure of what to expect. Even though I live around the area, I had not yet heard of Reflect, nor had I seen it, as it is tucked away in the Hilton hotel. My date and I enjoyed our meal at Reflect and had an outstanding time.
The service was impeccable; the servers were very attentive, and they were the most polite servers I have encountered in a long time.
We enjoyed the well designed and well plated Valentine's Day menu, and we were so stuffed, we could make only one round of the dessert buffet between the two of us.
There is so much going on around Reflect's area (Metrotown) that I am not sure if many people know about this hidden gem. This can serve as a positive note, as my date and I enjoyed a nice, quiet dining experience.
