The value at this restaurant is amazing! Not a huge choice of vegetarian items, but for the ones they have they give you huge portions. The staff are lovely. The service was quick. We drive from the other side of town (UVic) to go there often. So glad I found it. There is nothing fancy about this restaurant. It is just a simple place, family run, good food with generous portions. May it stay in business forever.
Don't judge a book by its cover.. I thought it was great.. I saw a lot of the reviews and was a bit hesitate but I thought I would give it a go. The food was great.. Won ton soup and the chicken fried rice was also good. The thing that shock me was the price for the buffet... Less than $10. I ordered take out and the portions were definitely a good value. If you want a greater selection that is not on the buffet order from the menu.... Lots to choose from.
Give the Resturant a break... How can one complain... Meal only costs 8 bucks, come on ! .... It's. good bang for its buck....
Better than you think. Despite the poor reviews, this place is cheap and great. You just need to know what to order. This is like any Chinese place in Vancouver or San Francisco. We get takeout from here on occasion and the food portions are large and good quality, can't speak for the buffet.
The takeout options were large and we had leftovers for the next day, and I am a big eater (I order two entrees per meal at most Canadian places).
Squid was delicious, chicken was well cooked and spiced and the vegetable dishes were well cooked as well. Take a chance and try it, you will be surprised. Shanghai noodles are also delicious.
Less than stellar food but the Lunch buffet was only 8 dollars and I could stuff my face with as much greasy Chinese food as I want? Sweet! I like!
Rated for food value, not Quality. Before anyone shoots me there is a reason I said I like this place.. If you compare this restaurant to others it is not so great.. However, if you consider it is a buffet for under $10. what are you expecting.. Sure the food is mediocre.. and the noodles are overcooked.. and there is not real deserts to speak of.. But you get lots to eat for under ten bucks.. So for the value of it.. I rate it high.. If this review was only about food quality.. then yes avoi this place.. But if you want to feed a family of four, and nobody leaves the table hungry this place is a good value
Incredible value for the money, great service. It's not a "fancy" place, it's a family run local restaurant. I'm not sure what other people expected, but for what you pay you have a tasty filling meal. My recommendations are the ginger fried beef, salt and pepper squid, singapore noodles, beef chow funn. For $7-$9 a dish you can't go wrong. The ginger beef is gingery and crunchy, the salt and pepper squid comes with carmelized onions and the Singapore noodles have a spicy curry sauce. I'm not as much of a fan of the breaded chicken balls or chicken chow mien because I find them kinda plain. If you're not sure what you should order, you can always try the buffet.
Good price / quality balance. It may not be the fanciest restaurant or have the tastiest food but the food is adequate quality and very inexpensive. As long as you arrive early the food is perfectly acceptable. Its not great, the selection is relatively limited, but it is hot and inexpensive. There are buffets that cost more than twice as much that may be better but you're paying more than twice as much. What you get at Wings is basic Chinese food that is filling and tasty (if you arrive early).
The only thing that has me disappointed about this place is the bad rap and reviews that it gets.
The food is very good for the price you pay. In Victoria you're going to pay at least 1.5x the price you will pay here for the same quality food at any other buffet in town. Best value in the CRD by far.
It's a very clean family run restaurant with an extremely friendly proprietor.
Nothing but thumbs up for this place. 👍🏽
