One of my favorite "must visit" places when I go home.
Plus, my mum always orders me cake for my birthday...with two sides almond and two sides chocolate sprinkles and yes, I do eat it for breakfast, too.
Try to go every time I'm downtown to get my fix of a croquette or three!!! Tastes the same every time!!! Maybe they are getting smaller and smaller each time though :0( But ever so good. Love the atmosphere too and all the dutch artifacts on the walls. Oh and the bakery is to die for!!
My husband said the burger was the best he's ever had and he eats a lot of burgers and the croquettes were full of meat not just beef flavor....the mocha point was on point, a must try!
Wonderful to be able to enjoy some Dutch food across the ocean! The croquettes were pretty good and authentic, like they're made back home. The uitsmijter was alright. The use of toast instead of fresh bread was a bit disappointing, but expected.
I mostly come in here to buy a vanilla slice for my partner and a sausage roll for myself. Both are Excellent. One day I decided to come for a late breakfast and was not disappointed. The food is great, the pastries are obviously amazing, and the prices, oh man, the prices. There is more value here than most if not ALL other places in Victoria. It's so expensive to eat in this city it's really nice that the Dutch bakery offers a bit of a break from the constant money suck that is Victoria's downtown. I come here for sweet things, but don't sleep on the savory items. Everything is quite good.
So many goodies here. Love the mocha cake, Scottish short bread. Most of the stuff here don’t taste too sweet like in America, which I really like.
I went here with friends in 2020 just a few weeks before the pandemic hit. Had the meat pie with yam fries and pie for dessert (don't remember the type, sadly. Maybe raspberry-peach?) Food tasted pretty good and was inexpensive. Ambience was that of a classic "old-style" diner, so I wouldn't expect anything fancy like other places.
Sadly with the pandemic I wasn't able to go back before moving away. Wouldn't mind coming back some day to try more of their baked goods.
Have been coming here since I was a child. One of my favourite places and everything is good. The Dutch apple cake is what I remember the most and it’s always a treat to be able to stop in for some goodies.
Had a lovely lunch at the Dutch bakery. The grilled cheese w bacon and added tomato was really good. Sweet server, the place was busy but the food came out quickly. We got some wonderful pastries to go, will come back.
Super service, freshly made food, casual quality eats. Breakfast here is a pleasant start for the day in a place tucked away and well worth the find.
A low key simple breakfast spot for the locals. Food is nothing special but the restaurant has vibes of being a community pillar for generations.
i have been going to dutch bakery my entire life...the best food for great prices + the cakes are beyond belief....so good
