Love this place, Fabriz is an amazing baker and quite the character! Almond croissants melt in your mouth. I drive in from White Rock to go there.
Bref, ce n'est pas à rater ! You shouldn't miss this great boulangerie ! The owner is such a kind and friendly person! The atmosphere is so positive and engaging that I ended up staying there for five hours. I took the bus all the way from UBC and ça vaut vraiment le coup ! (It's totally worth it!) The croissants are very good and I also had the clam chowder which was excellent too with great fresh bread on the side!
J'y retournerai Fabrice ! Bonne continuation à vous !
This is a small French bakery located on Arbutus, near Broadway, offering breads, sandwiches and some rustic, homestyle pastries and desserts. I've sampled their Eclair, Chocolate Torte and Almond Torte, and enjoyed all of their desserts; my favourite is their chocolate torte. The prices are very reasonable and the staff quite friendly. Highly recommend checking this place out if you're in the neighbourhood.
Chocolate Torte ($3.95):
4.5/5
This consisted of a crispy crust filled with a chocolate mousse and topped wtih a layer of chocoalte ganache. The mousse was creamy, and the chocolate seemed to be of good quality and was not waxy. My favourite part was the crust however; it appears to be made up of some kind of cereal and had a wonderful crunch. This is a fantastic dessert, and I highly recommend it to any chocolate lovers.
Almond Torte ($3.90):
3.5/5
This consisted of a short-bread crust filled with almond paste and topped with pears and cherries. The crust was relatively tender and had a nice buttery flavour. The almond filling was creamy, fragrant and mildly sweet. The slices of pear were tender, but still had some texture while the cherries were bright and tart. I personally found the flavours to be a bit too mild for my liking, but it's probably a great option for those who prefer something less sweet.
Eclair ($3.95):
4/5
This was filled with a chocolate custard/pudding and glazed with melted chocolate. The amount of filling in this was very generous, and I got plenty in every bite. It was creamy and sweet, though not overly so. Once again, the chocolate glaze appears to be of good quality, and was not at all waxy.
My favourite cafe in the city! Smooth and rich coffee, and delicious inexpensive desserts ~ what more can you ask for! 😄 Creme brulee is my favourite! But the croissants and tarts are also very delicious! 😊
Phenomenal French bakery serving the best croissants in Vancouver! Very nice ie staff and authentically French. Hard to not stop by every day as I live just next door.
I absolutely adore this little French cafe. The great selection of freshly made soups and sandwiches is often overshadowed by the delicious array of pastries and other baked goods. This little shop has been a must-visit anytime I am in the Kitsilano area for the almond croissants. Although these types of croissants are prominently featured at most cafes these days (Matchstick, Thomas Haas, Bakery Sate all make their croissants very well), there's something so pure and authentic about the often imperfect little croissants here that create an experience that isn't so carbon-copy. For chocolate lovers the torte cake is a must-try. I have driven across the city on numerous occasions for this cake for birthdays, potlucks and cheat meals. It is delightful. When coupled with the SUPER charming owner (who my fiancée and I have affectionately nicknamed "Frenchie"... because he's French) and his equally charming staff, a visit here is never, ever a flavourless affair. I implore anyone in this neighbourhood to make this your go-to French bakery/cafe.
This is one of my favourite coffee and pastry shops in Vancouver. It's a classic traditional French bakery with delicious food, good coffee, and the best chocolate tort I have ever tasted in my life. The breads are great too, and everything is as fresh as could possibly be. The most poignant thing is the owner, Fabrice, who you can tell really cares about the place and the customers that visit. Rarely a week goes by that I don't visit here, and I recommend you do the same.
Amazing food and environment
Almond Croissants to die for.... We love the unpretentious atmosphere and Fabrice's booming voice greeting everyone by name. But best of all, we love every bakery item here, especially the Almond Croissants. An authentic French Bakery, you won't be disappointed to try anything here. We love the ham and brie sandwiches too. It is gigantic and the bread he makes for it is perfect....crispy and flaky on the outside and inside all soft and yielding.
Excellent service!. We love coming to this French cafe in our neighbourhood...the owner is a delight and has a great sense of humour. In addition, his sandwiches, soups and pastries are incredible. I especially love his almond croissants.
Best roast beef sandwich around. Come for anything delicious and French. The owner is quite a character always joking around.
A lovely café au lait, pillowy pain au raisin, and a part-flakey part-soft all-delicious pain au chocolat. Super friendly service with a relaxed atmosphere. Note kids' play area for the preschooler and up crowd (as I expected).
