Their grilled cheese is, by far, the best I have ever tasted. Plus, they include a pickle to go with it, which makes it even more awesome!
At Beyond Bread, I sink my teeth into a sacristain. If you haven’t tried, it’s an absurdly long twisty pastry – about as long as my forearm – deliciously dusted with icing sugar. Oddly resembling a knotty branch, or maybe a wizard’s gnarled wand.
On Stop 117 of our Search for Vancouver’s Best Coffee, there is something peculiarly magical about Beyond Bread. Although they’ve been a fixture in Kits (at Alma and West 4th Ave) for several years, we kick ourselves for discovering this local gem only recently.
I am head over heels in love with bread. The process of making it, watching it bake in the oven, and of course eating it. Beyond Bread has become one of my favorite recipes after trying a loaf of their bread at a potluck I went to. What makes them a unique bakery is that they use their signature sourdough starter in all their loaves creating a depth of flavor unlike any other loaf you’ve had before.

Near the corner of West 4th and Alma on Vancouver's west-side resides a fantastic bakery/coffee house. Right near a bus stop it's busy, but a bit of a relaxing oasis too. Stylishly appointed this bakery is one of Vancouver's best; the croissants are indeed exceptional. The bread is always fresh, which makes Beyond Bread's take on sandwiches difficult to resist.
Cute little bakery with delicious treats and breakfast sandwiches. Great place for a quick treat and a coffee. Comfy seats and friendly staff.
My Favorite Indulgence. Have you ever had break so good you don't have to eat it with anything? There are few places where you can get your bread and ask the baker anything you'd like to know! Want something light on the stomach? This bread won't give you a tummy ache, it will just make you happy and full! AND THEIR PASTRIES!!! Wow! I mean I could eat one of their almond croissants every morning! Only get there early because by closing time, they won't have much left!

Best bread in the city. It's worth the drive from Burnaby to pick up a delicious loaf of Transylvanian peasant bread. For an extra treat, get a baguette. The taste and texture are incomparable.
Once upon a time, there was a little bread bakery named Transilvania Peasant Bread. Using a wood-fired oven, the baker would create amazing rustic breads, highly valued by his loyal customers. Then one day, Transilvania Peasant Bread closed, and there was great turmoil in the land.
