I've been to Viet Sub a few times now and I've never been disappointed by the food. It is a hole in the wall with sitting for under six people. Family run, and has a cozy vibe to it.
Their price point, like most other Vietnamese places in the area is pretty reasonable. You can get a stomach full in under $10 with a Bahn Mi and a salad roll. I especially like their sriracha mayo sauce which you can pour over anything on the menu.
I love Vietnamese subs, so I had to give this place a try. You cant get a decent size sub, with a warm toasty bun and juicy meats for $4.99! I’ve gone to other places where what you get is smaller and quality isn’t as good for maybe a dollar less, but of course I would rather pay a bit more for an actual good sub! For sure a great place to stop by if your looking for a quick, cheap but good eat!
I was in the mood for noodle soup so I decided to drop by here to try their pho since it has very good review. My first impression is it is very tiny restaurant with very limited seats. I ordered beef balls pho, shrimp salad roll and special sub to go. The customer service is very friendly and attentive so that’s a bonus and you rarely see very friendly customer service at Vietnamese restaurants. The pho was average and salad roll was actually one roll cut in half. The salad roll was bigger than other restaurants. I ate the sub at night and it was very different from other Vietnamese subs. The meat tasted completely different but it was lots of generous stuffing. I like their Vietnamese mayonnaise but didn’t necessarily like their other mayo sauce. It was decent sub but not authentic typical Vietnamese sub.
My rating:
Customer service 4.5
Pho 3.0
Salad roll 3.5
Sub 3.5
Funny what sticks out about this place but first impressions count. My 1st impression was "these people are so friendly, I just want to give them my money". Seriously, the staff's smiles are genuine, the service is caring and the food is tasty. I usually go for the banh mi. Every's right about them - from the calibre of the bread to the mix of flavours to the price. And delivered with a smile. It's tiny - there's a good chance you'll need to wait outside for your food and there's little space for dining inside. But on the way to or from the VPL, it's the perfect stop for a sandwich.
This restaurant sits near the end of Robson headed to Denman. Service is friendly and quick. Restaurant is extremely clean. Cheap prices. Food is really good, the spring rolls were my favorite.
If you have never had Vietnamese food served with a smile and incredible attention to your dining experience, you will never find a better place than this. They really provide exceptional service. I've visited this location multiple times and each time I have been nothing less than thrilled with their staff and delicious pho amongst many other options that are sure to satisfy your taste buds. My favorite is the special chicken noodle pho combined with their tasty fusion rolls, which are a combination of a salad roll and a deep fried spring roll. I'm going right now!!
As far as subs go, these are very authentic and very tasty! They use a slightly different homemade sauce which is a bit of a surprise but works very well. I had the cold cut and my partner had the veggie one which he said was excellent. Service is quick and friendly. I have also tried their vermicelli dish, which is average, but since this is predominantly a banh mi place, I don't think it fair to judge them on their other dishes which are merely supplementing what they're best at and renowned for, the banh mi.
Their subs are okay - nothing too awe-inspiring. A bit of cheese in their Banh Mi would have made a big difference. And the limited seating and ambiance within the restaurant make for a mixed experience.
Small little shop on Robson but it's hard to miss since there's a huge sign saying VIET SUB across it. There's only a couple of seats inside (shop is made for quick eats) and one cashier. Their subs have a certain kind of sauce in it that differs from the generic viet subs (and it makes it really tasty!) they also have bottles of sauces along the wall beside the door for people who just can't get enough of it :). Would definitely recommend, yummy food and friendly staff!
If you're hungry and you wanna eat some good quality food, but saving up money.. I would recommend this place. The sub is good, it's not crappy for its price. One of my cheap finds today ☺
I had their Lemongrass Chicken on Steamed Rice with Egg, and it was really good, and great value. The chicken was juicy and delicious, and the lemongrass rice had an interesting, fresh flavour. The owner was also very friendly, and the service fast. I only wish the dish had some stirfried veggies, which would go better with the rice than the raw salad. Also, the rice was a bit cold and hard, and I think the dish would have tasted better with warm rice. For the price point though, I really can't complain. Note that they are a takeout-only restaurant, although there are a few (very few) seats inside the restaurant and outside.
I am currently sitting here eating one of the best Bahn Mi's I've had. Vancouver is an expensive city no matter how you stack it and for something so reasonably price and delicious. If you live local or work local absolutely give it a go. Cheap, delicious food that supports local business. Heaps good stuff
Came here as it was en route to where I was going and I was craving pho for days. So glad I stopped on! The service was awesome the staff is super friendly! The soup tasted great! 👌🏻 Space is limited so it’s not a place to go if you have a group of people. Also I wish they didn’t use plastic bowls for dine in option but minor detail. I will have to drop by again to try their subs!
Worth eating out here. Their banh mi tasted very good. Their lemongrass chicken is also delicious. I would come back more for Vietnamese food. It feels like you’re in Vietnam! Small restaurant but food quality is good.
Went here on a whim, and got the cold cut banh mi. It was really good, tasted fresh, and I found the filling to bread ratio spot on. Will be back to try other ones and their rolls!
Friendly staff and quick service!
Got Lemongrass Chicken Banh Mi & Lemongrass Pork Banh Mi, great flavors!
4 Stars cause the portion balance was off.
One sub was under $8... 🤯 What a deal!
First of all: the bread was delicious. It was fresh and tasting good. I had the chicken bbq sub. It was good. Nothing extraordinary. I also had some spring rolls. It was good. The staff is friendly and offered a good service.
Cheap, affordable and SO GOOD!! My favorite things on the menu are the shrimp salad roll and the grilled chicken roll! The guy in the glasses is always so nice and welcoming
