...I wanted to write about our usual high tea restaurant. We come to this place pretty often almost like once in a week or two. So often that even the guy at the bar recognize us. Some of you might even know this place, especially if you're from Hong Kong because it has HK in the name. Hong Kong Bistro Cafe located on 472 Dundas St W has been around ever since I moved to Toronto 5 years ago. It's one of those hidden upstairs restaurants in Chinatown that you won't go to until someone takes you there. It's not a very popular joint but its almost never empty. The entrance is actually VERY hard to miss. Each time we go there I ALWAYS miss the stairs. You really have to watch out for the sign because its literally just a door & stairway. We mostly come here for the afternoon tea specials. It's a super good deal, for $3 to $6 you can get an item drink. Afternoon tea special goes from 2:30-5:00pm . Not even a snowstorm could stop me from eating. Truely foodie spirit right there. HK Bistro cafe offers a distinctive style of Cantonese cuisine, it is European food with a Chinese twist which made it so special. The portions are huge so I normally pack my food to go. My favorite is the Portuguese chicken pasta, the chicken are deep fried covered in yellow coconut sauce. I ordered it so often that the owners don't even bother asking for my order when I walk in. The all day combo special are amazing and you must try their milktea or yun yuong (coffee+milktea) with the combo. You can get the Chinese dessert at the end and it is deep fried milk puddling which taste heavenly.
