Today I felt like having a burger, and South St Burger was along the way to where I was headed at lunchtime. I ordered one of their Signature combos, the Mushroom & Swiss. Good burger, fresh toppings, good fries, reasonably fast counter service. Burger desire satisfied.
Another great lunch spot on Yonge & Eg.. I love a good burger so when I saw South St. Burger Co. just around the corner from my work, I had to try it for lunch. It's directly on Yonge st, a block North from Eglinton Ave., which makes this a very accessible place. I noticed a NYF (New York Fries) logo on the side, they must be the same chain.
The menu offers 5 different types of burgers: Plain, Cheeseburger, Cheese'n Bacon Burger, Grilled Chicken and Veggie. I opted for the Cheese'n Bacon Burger (obviously) combo, which omes with new york fries and a fountain drink.
Next, as you move down the line from the cashier, you oversee the grill and all the heavenly toppings. There are SO many different toppings, I couldn't decide quickly! I ended up with tomatoes, lettuce, pickles, hot peppers with wasabi mayo and pepperjack cheese.
Other interesting toppings were: wasabi or curry mayo, hot pepper relish, spicy keychup, guacamole, mango chutney, gorgonzola cheese and an option to add pulled pork!
I know I had a LOT of toppings in there but the combination was amazing! The meat patty is tender, spiced well and of the perfect thickness and the burger buns were soft and eat to bite into even with all the toppings. Just writing this post, I want to go again!
If you're in Yonge & Eglinton, make sure you stop by for a bite of South St. Burger!
Oh what a treat these wonderful organic burgers are --- they are our very favourites, with a ton of choices for toppings. The people there are really nice. The poutine is first rate as well. An excellent choice for a casual burger meal.
Staff recommendations are good burgers. Today's visit was my second there. The first time, there was a "Rudy burger" of the day, with a certain set of toppings; it was good. I asked for it today, and then found out that Rudy's actually someone who works there. The server today was Lella, and I asked her to make me her favourite burger. It was great! I highly recommend the "Lella" (sp?) burger. There was lettuce, tomato, guacamole, some cajun onions, a few hot peppers, a slice of Swiss, and some other toppings I can't remember right now.
Standard Veggie Burger. There is nothing special about the veggie burger here and the veggie toppings are some what limited. The place was fine but I doubt I will make my way back here anytime soon. I prefer the veggie burgers at the Gourmet burger Co., Hero's and Lick's.
Going into the restaurant, it's welcoming, clean with a LOT of comfortable and chic looking seatings. I especially love circular "nooks" to sit in - of course when you're with more than just yourself :)
I recently received a $10 coupon for me to try South St. Burger Co. and a bunch of two-for-one combo coupons to give out to friends. I went to the Yonge/Eglinton location for lunch today. I ordered the hamburger combo which includes a hamburger, fries and pop.
Craft and South St. both promise the same thing: fresh, never frozen quality meat - served the way you want, when you want it. If I had to pick, I'd go with South St. because they have New York Fries - the junk I lived off in high school. Never underestim
