Really like this place. Good food. Large portions. Fair prices. If you go for dinner service on a weekday, you can get free xiaolongbao with purchase over $40. Place is cash only.

Came here for dinner and the place was almost full. Service was quick. We tried the fried rice served in the small wooden bucket, and it was quite good. There are also a reasonable selection of vegetarian dishes as well. Cash only

Pretty legit Shanghainese food. At lunch, the food is order via a paper sheet where you write down the quantity -- but the sheet is in Chinese. The dish that stood out to me the most was the chicken noodle soup and the green onion pancake.

The chicken noodle soup was very addictive and tasty with just the right balance of salt and milky taste.

Service: fast even when the restaurant was full.

I keep hearing about this place giving away free soup dumplings for lunch and dinner, with minimum purchase of 20 for lunch, 40 at dinner. Our uncle Mike was treating my girlfriend out for dinner here, it's her bday month. I was excited and it was Friday night. Nice way to kick off the weekend with a full belly.

We were disappointed because they ran out of the soup dumplings. But fair enough though, I'm sure alot were given away for free. The decor inside is up to date. On the outside it didn't look fancy at all.
Service is decent and quick friendly. Don't be expecting interaction lol. We tried the peeking duck, ma po tofu, veggies and sauce over rice crackers, prawns, pea tip leaves, and brisket. All delicious. Then for dessert we got the sesame balls and some sugar rice dessert with wine. Absolutely fantastic.
The prices are very reasonable here. We ate a boat load and the bill only came to 109. Can easily feed 5 people. We were STUFFED. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Lately I've been on the hunt for good quality XLB. I've heard good things about Shanghai Morning so I thought I would give it a try. The XLB lived up to their reputation - thin skinned, juicy and a generous amount of meat. My only complaint was that they were served a bit on the cooler side, although my tongue probably is better off this way, I'm used to having to blow my XLB before digging in. The other dishes I ordered included seafood hot and sour soup, panfried shanghai noodles, green onion pancakes and stir fried pork with pancake wrappers. The food was decent but nothing extraordinary. I also thought the portions were on the smaller side; however the prices were average. I would definitely stick to the XLB at this place.

After a disappointing meal at Shanghai Gourmet a few days ago, I was in desperate need of some REAL Shanghainese food ASAP! Seriously, I'm still having nightmares about the XLB from Shanghai Gourmet LOL (jk). So my dad and I headed to Alexandra Road (aka Eat St) in Richmond, for some Shanghainese, done right!! :D   Shanghai Morning is one of the more well known Shanghainese restaurants in Richmond, they're always busy and there's usually a lineup outside!! Shanghai Morning is located in the same plaza as La Amigo HK Cafe (their african cajun chicken is AWESOME) and MaxNoodle (one of my favourite places for wonton noodle soup!!)   Oh guess what? I went to Shanghai Morning without looking at the reviews first and when I got home I found out I had unknowingly ordered all the most popular items on the menu!! I guess I'm finally getting good at this whole ordering thing ;)   Service was shockingly great!! Is above average service becoming a thing at chinese restuarants now? LOL! The waitresses were really friendly and they even smiled!! (Shocking I know)  ;)   They seemed genuinely concerned about my peanut allergy after I asked if the sauce they use is a mixture of peanut/sesame sauce (Turns out it was.) They were quick to fetch extra rice/napkins, and our tea was constantly refilled! Both my dad and I were pretty impressed haha!   My dad was just as impressed with the food (and he's really picky, especially when it comes to chinese food!) He even said he likes Shanghai Morning more than Dinesty haha! Most of the items were pretty solid, and for the price point, we really didn't have any complaints!! :D   Apparently they had a promotion going on if you order $20 worth of food you get a free serving of xiaolongbao, but we didn't get any :( I totally forgot to ask because I was too distracted by all the food on the table ;) Pan Fried Buns $5.50 3.5/5 stars   Pan fried buns is their signature dish!! This was a very good version, the bottom was crispy and evenly pan fried

Love this place. I love eating siu long bao and I have to say this is the best place I have tried so far. The bun is big and juicy and the wrapping is thin.......everything is just right. Their noodles' portions are really big. I shared one bowl with my friend and both of us almost couldn't finish it. Will definitely come back more often when I want to have shanghai food

oh and I must also mention, their service is good. The servers were very friendly! Another big plus for this restaurant.

Loved the Duck and the XLBs. Oh if we could only get Chinese food half as good as this where we come from -- the capital city of Oregon -- we would be so happy. We got here early before the place started to fill up. The highlights for us were the XLBs -- really good and juicy, and the tea-smoked duck which to our taste was perfect. We thought we ordered the pan fried XLBs too but they never arrived. Oh well -- a good reason to come back. Attention restauranteurs in Richmond: there are no high quality Chinese restaurants in Salem, Oregon. I mean none. The field is wide open. We would welcome you with open arms.

Wow! Some of the best Xiao Long Bao I have ever had! Bursting with soup like the ones you see on television shows. You should dine on site though because they steam your food fresh to order. Also had the glutinous rice siumai which was large and so satisfying with starchy rice goodness. Highly impressed and definitely reccomend this place for Xiao Long Bao soup dumplings.

For a mall stall this place was quite good. Always nice to see the XLB made right before your eyes. They had one kitchen staffer at the XLB station making XLB after XLB. The noodles were good. Good quantity and was piping hot. Would definitely try what else they have to offer.

Tried their Sheng Jian Bao (生煎包)。It is good, but not authentic. It is way too big, and not as juicy as the original version from Shanghai.

Amazing ! We loved it ! Delicious soup dumplings, super juicy pan fried dumpling. I just can’t get enough of this little stand. After many years of living in China in Hangzhou and a Changzhou, it’s even better that I remember. The staff is lovely too.

The xiao long bao were good but nothing special since steamed soup dumplings are almost always good, but the shenjianbao (pan fried pork buns) were AMAZING, juicy and flavourful!!

One of the best Xiao long bao I've had so far in Vancouver. It's a bit over $1 each (they come in 6 and I think it's $7 )but are full of good soup with a light not densely packed filling. They also hold their shape relatively well yet is a thin enough wrapping to not overwhelm the flavor. We also got the pig intestines which were also 5 🌟

Had the Xiao Long Bao, Sheng Jian Bao, and Shao Mai. The Xiao Long Bao had a perfect amount of soup, and tastes great and the Sheng Jian Bao were even better, with a crispy bottom, soft and fluffy top, and the perfect amount of filling. The Shao Mai was pretty disappointing though, as it was almost completely rice and nothing else. This place is overall still a great place to come to if you're looking for some dim sum.
