Love coming here - truly amazing place with friendly staff and great food!! Highly recommended for any occassion!
Doesn't get any better! Anyone who likes Canton food must try this place!
One of my last days in Vancouver ended with a big bang. We came here around 10am and there was already a line out the door. After being seated we ordered the filet with sliced meat congee, pan fried turnip cake and Chinese donut. The congee had chunks of fish, was flavorful and came out in a big bowl which could feed 2 people. The chinese donut was my favorite here (nice amount of dough and crispy on the outside). We had to cancel our turnip cake as it took forever to come out. I would definitely recommend this place for their congee and chinese donut. Prices here are fair (approximately $10 per bowl).
Growing up in Richmond, I remember there being more options for congee but it seems like those restaurants have gradually faded away. Kongee Dinesty provides a choose your own toppings version, à la Deer Garden, giving a personalized spin on the classic comfort food. There is a choice of 3 congee bases (plain, seasoned, black pepper), an assortment of garnishes and 2 toppings (among the choices are various meats, seafood, egg) for $9.85. We ordered Pork and salted egg in black pepper base and Minced beef and preserved egg in seasoned base.
Do not know why so many complaints From others, but I find this restaurant very good indeed. We go there virtually Every month, my Mother in law's best favourite. Food taste good. Fried dough wrapped in steamed rice roll, prawn with rice cake. I do not like roast duck so I have no comment. But congee is very good! Service? Don't expect 5 star restaurant services From a small local Chinese Restaurant. It is good enough to eat happily.
○good service
○good food/ customizable Congee/ all dishes were good
○family friendly/ portions are big so better go with big groups
○re-wipe your dishes / bowls, they're very dusty
○would I go back? Yes
This place has very reasonable prices for a decent breakfast. The service is prompt and fast. The only thing I noticed about servers is that it's a hit or miss with some. There was a very very nice couple next to us that was very polite and their server was a monster... I had to speak up for them since the couple didn't know how to speak Chinese. The rating was almost a 4 or higher but that one server was a mood killer.
The Chinese donut roll was nice. The noodle is decent. The peanuts in the congee is my favorite. I definitely recommend the food here. This was a last minute stop and I must say, the food is comforting here.
Looking for a brunch time destination with my parents, we went to “Kongee Dinesty”. They serve as a cross between a Hong Kong style cafe’s tea time and traditional Chinese dim sum. I mention that I was with my parents, so that you know to expect food and ingredients I wouldn’t otherwise order myself.
I've been here twice for their breakfast congee set - which is a pretty good deal (menu photo attached). There were a generous amount of liver pieces in the Pork Liver Congee, and they seemed to be good quality too (they weren't chew or super thin)! For the side, I would definitely recommend the Salty Chinese Pancake. It was one of the best I've had :) I also tried the Sweet Chinese Donuts which were just alright.
Pictured is the Sampan Congee, Pork Liver Congee (already mixed), Rice Roll with Green Onion and Dry Shrimp, Salty Chinese Pancake, and Soy Sauce Chow Mein.
Great congee joint. They are a congee house in the day and at night a full Chinese restaurant. Congee is smooth and silky. Chinese donuts are good too! Dinner is also pretty good there but tad pricey dinner menu. Food is always fresh and hot. Must try the roasted salty chicken! Its yummy!! Reservations recommended at night, as it can get pretty packed.
I come here for a stick to your rib breakfast. Congee. I never knew congee could be so good, but their seasoned base makes it so delicious. Paired with a sweet chinese donut...perfection!
She also wanted to try their Imitation Shark Fin Soup. The imitation shark fin is actually bean thread noodle. Lorna commented that the version here is just so-so. . We ordered congee with fish and beef and opted for the seasoned base. The congee is flavourful despite it’s msg free as the server told us. The congee here is rather thick.
