SWMBO was in the mood for a pub and a pint, and we landed on The Owl (A Firkin Pub). Yes, it's a part of a restaurant chain, and yes, we like the ambience, the decor (especially the Monty Python touches, like the bowler hat lampshades), and the menu. It was a sunny, warm Sunday evening, and there were more people on the patio than inside.
SWMBO selected one of her pub favourites, Chicken Fingers. There were five good-sized pieces, breaded and deep-fried to a golden brown, sitting atop a bed of decent pub fries.
On this occasion I chose the Pub Salad from the greens menu, and added a Grilled Chicken Breast. Although the menu stated the main ingredient as mixed greens, it was mostly spinach, and i was okay with that. The julienned, pickled beets, the sweet goat cheese, and the crunchy pumpkin seeds and a variety of texture and flavour to each bite. The chicken was a bit overdone, and I could have done without the raw red onion rings. The balsamic vinaigrette was suitably mild, not overwhelming the other ingredients.
Service was pleasant and friendly.
This place was great we were staying down the street at the comfort inn. We saw this place and went for dinner the atmosphere was great service was amazing and the food was delicious. The drinks we had were great to. The pricing was also decent food portions were perfect. Overall when we come back o Markham we will be eating here
I've been coming here for 10 years and I love it. It's cozy, their beer has never been flat!! The servers are nice and their food is always good. I can honestly say I come here at least once a week for food and beverages and I love their daily specials! I love their nachos!!! I personally think their nachos are the best compared to any other place I have been to.
