I would totally recommend this place. The sashimi here is really fresh and better than most places that I have around this area. While I do agree with some reviews that the service is lacking (hence why I did not give a perfect score), they do have buzzers on the table to remind them to come to your table. The price is also more expensive than other Japanese restaurants, but based on their quality, I'd say it's worth it.
I wasn't planning to eat out for lunch on friday. However, my management meeting was cancelled near lunch. As such, I was free to venture out for lunch. I rounded up my available work colleagues and decided on trying this MI-NE Sushi on Woodbine (north of Hwy 7). We had been to this plaza before but haven't visited in years.
At first glance, everything on the menu was pricier than I'd like. However, after a taste, I think you do get the quality food you're paying for, especially considering its location (Markham suburbs). I was especially impressed by the presentation of their maki. They put a lot of attention into each roll, and you can clearly see the individual components that make up each beautiful piece of sushi. Decor and staff uniforms helped create a Japanese feel — I loved the Japanese paper accents — and the servers were very polite; all smiles and welcoming words. Glancing around the restaurant, many customers ordered sushi boats. They were beautifully presented and I'd like to return to try one as well.

I usually get take out but we decided to sit in today for lunch. The sushi is excellent. A little more pricy than the other places in Markham but the staff is not very friendly... The one in Richmond Hill feels more authentic but it's tiny. I'll stick with my take out next time
We were so amazed at how pretty it looked that we took pictures immediately. Hers was gigantic and covered the entire half of the table. I liked the colour scheme and the different levels that the handroll stand, tempura bowl, and sushi stand offered (nerdy food insights, I know).
This tempura was delicious! Definitely better than your average tempura from regular Ichiban chains or All You Can Eat (AYCE) locations. The batter was light, yet rich in flavour. The Lobster Tempura was scrumptious and an unique option outside of the traditional tempura selection. The Shrimp Tempura was sweet and the Sweet Potato Tempura was delicious. I would love to have more of this!
Our group of 12 was seated at a long row of tables in a private section of the restaurant. The restaurant was full of mostly couples and families. The decor was clean and modern with Asian inspired elements like rice paper shades and wooden Japanese dolls. Myself, The Fiance and another couple split a medium sashimi boat, 42 pieces for $49, and two rolls. A standard variety of fish was used including salmon, seared tuna, red snapper, mackerel and tobiko. All of the fish was fresh, sweet and cut into the perfect size.
I have been searching for a quality sushi restaurant for some time in Markham, and think I may have found it. This is my 2nd time to Mi-Ne, and service has consistently been good and the fish has always been fresh. The price is a bit more than other sushi places, however the quality is well worth the slight increase. Will be returning for a 3rd time.
