If there was a 6 out of 5 I would have given it. Amazing staff. Amazing food. Amazing beer. Amazing ambiance. Well done. Thanks for making our day!!!
Good Catch Boil House is a Louisiana-inspired seafood restaurant that is also a sports bar with huge TV screens, 18 craft beers from local Ontario breweries and many fried foods options like chicken wings, fried soft shell crab, and fried oysters. Seafood lovers will be happy with many seafood options on their menu including a lobster roll, a seafood boil (the kind you eat with plastic gloves), and a large selection of fresh oysters. Make sure to say hello to the world oyster shucking champion and Chef Patrick McMurray if you see him behind the oyster bar. He collaborated with Good Catch Boil as a consultant to run their oyster program.
Good Catch Boil House is like a modern Red Lobster with a twist. It’s kind of a thing now: southern, family style seafood, tossed with seasonings, served up in plastic bags and tossed on the table. Plastic bibs and gloves are also a must – it gets messy!.
I received an invite to attend their media day, where attendees are mostly bloggers, instagrammers, or other media personnel. I’ve been going to more of these events and find one thing in common amongst all the participants, their cameras “eat first” lols. Anyhow, cool people, different culture. Who am I kidding? I do the same thing! Except my pictures suck haha.
Event
This was extremely well planned, I felt like a total celebrity. I just want to stress that the restaurant probably went all out. So much food! Not to mention, all you can drink booze! Everyone was greeted with appetizers and FREE oysters at the bar. And you know how I could tell I was a newbie? They already had a table set with food so that bloggers could snap their shots. Blinding light flashes, damn. Later in the night, people were divided into groups and sat with 3-5 other individuals and had a tasting menu. I was so full. Even when we were leaving, the restaurant gave us coupons and gifts. I was in awe.
Food
I ate too much, can’t even remember half of it lols. To be fair, this restaurant has a good amount of variety but their selling points are definitely the seafood dishes. Now, I did come back to the restaurant on a normal day when I wasn’t treated as a celebrity lol. Their service was good, super busy on a weekend, and waitresses were attentive and nice. Checkmark on service please!
Here are my recommendations if you plan to make a visit:
– Fried oyster sliders (I believe this is like a 8.5/10 in taste)
– The bagged seafood (Their house sauce is quite good)
Everything else in my opinion was mediocre. I would probably avoid the salad because it’s a little bland.
Compared to the first Louisiana boil chain that opened in Toronto, Good Catch Boil House is practically palatial. The high ceilings, modern décor and ample room makes it a place you can actually go and hang out at. Sports fans will love the restaurant since there’s plenty of television screens – who doesn’t want to suck back seafood while watching basketball?
Sticking with only one Louisiana boil-type dish, we decided on the snow crab legs ($18.95 a pound) with corn ($1 for two small pieces) thrown in to nibble on. Generally, the signature blend of flavouring is a good choice as the restaurant mixes a few sauces into one. At Good Catch, theirs also incorporates curry … tasty if you like it, but doesn’t really sing ‘boil’ to me. Although, I did use the sauce for dipping soft garlic bread ($3.95) into. Note to self: next time stick with the Cajun blend.
Nonetheless, the medium spicy level was the perfect amount of heat and the crab was prepared nicely. I was surprised by how
Came here after watching beauty and the beast. I had their salad which was totally Delilah and a big salad at that.
If you love seafood then this is the place.
The Good Catch Slaw was a beautiful mountain of fresh and healthy ingredients that you could then mix together with the provided raspberry sauce to enjoy an appetizing salad to start off the meal. It was really good and I liked it. I especially liked the sweet figs in this slaw.
The food is super tasty and authentic here. I especially enjoyed the chicken with creamy truffle sauce spaghetti and tomato bisque noodles. It's a plus that the regular items includes a hot/ cold drink with no surcharge. One star is taken off for their service, the waiters don't seem too friendly.
Review base on the Good catch side of the business. Came here on a Friday near closing. Staff was polite and we were able to grab seats half an hour before closing. We noticed the restaurant has turned into a cafe and bar. Plus the menu has changed.
We grabbed the truffle fries, Oyster sliders, and the fish and chips. Would recommend trying the oyster slider and truffle fries. The portions have decrease to associate to the 8 dollar menu. The fish and chips used to come with an 16 oz piece of fish. Now only being a 8 oz piece.
This is my first time visit here, I love it ! The service was good and it’s fast !!!
I ordered a Set menu A02, it come with a bowl of rice noodle soup, toast and egg ,and also choose of milk tea or coffee ! The noodle soup was yummy, and the scramble egg was nice and soft.
Nice location, easy to park your cars and good food. Recommend!!!
We walked in around 1pm on a Tuesday, I was surprised at the amount of people there on a weekday, luckily we were able to get seats immediately.
The waiter was super friendly. We ordered a couple dishes but the most memorial one was the charcoal french toast. The club sandwich was pretty good too! I was a bit disappointed with the baked curry beef spaghetti, the top was tasty but it was kinda bland after a couple bites. Every dish we ordered came with a drink so that's a plus! There's so many choices and I would definitely come back.
Great place to for lunch or dinner. They have a seafood boil menu and Hong Kong cafe menu.
Disappointed with our first visit because of the lobster bisque but we gave it a second chance and all of the other dishes have been a hit. We will continue coming back for more, except for the bisque.
The illustrations on the menu are their specialty items, so those are good options if you can't decide.
The baked dishes, toast, and the truffle eggs with shrimp are our favorite go to items.

Good Catch Cafe started as a seafood boil house and while it's kept that menu, half of it has now pivoted as a Hong Kong style cafe. I dare say the latter is the better half. With it being part of the Congee Queen group, I had a good feeling about their food consistency. So when friends raved about the pleasant dine-ins, I was eager to drop by for brunch!
The menu offers a variety of cheese baked rice / spaghetti dishes. At the waitress' behest, I tried Bolognese Spaghetti & Tomato Chicken Steak (F04) as a sampler of both options. If the name's a mouthful, so too was the hot baked dish containing delightfully sweet spaghetti & ground meat on one side, and chunky fried chicken cutlets atop rice on the other. Flavours melded well together with the cheesy crust on top, as classic HK takes on European food.
Curry Beef Brisket (E03) was also on point; a hearty assortment of briskets cuts were slow braised within the savoury, spicy & rich curry tempered by coconut cream. HK style beef curry is a harmonious mix from British & Indian influences. Fatty tendon cuts, mixed in with leaner brisket cuts offered a nice texture contrast while releasing the curry's kick upon each bite. Portions were generous, and the accompanying milk tea was a big hit as well.
Good Catch Cafe had been offering cash discount; not that we need more incentive to go again. With authentic tastes, a reasonable menu, quick service & a pleasant patio, it's an easy choice as long as you can find a table! Just don't forget to offer a healthy tip for restaurant staff giving dine-in service in this challenging pandemic environment!
Be prepared to wait awhile. This place is popular despite having so much space. They have both western food (bar) as well as the HK cafe menu. All dishes we got were good, and portion sizes are decent as well. The drinks were okay too. Servers here speak english, so you don't have to worry about communication. A good chill spot, would come back for sure!
