My son, husband and I ate here on Saturday, May 13th as an early Mother's Day treat. We are from the South Shore and hadn't been there in many, many years and our son had never been there. We all ordered the smaller seafood platter and were totally in awe of the serving size. The restaurant was quite busy and we thought there would be a long wait for our food after ordering, but that was not the case. Everything arrived promptly and we all agreed that it was absolutely delicious!! Our server was very friendly and efficient. The only downfall.....after such a tastey meal.....we had no room for dessert!! ;) We will definitely make it a point to eat here again and to pass along to our friends to check our your establishment the next time they plan an outing to the city.
A family favourite for as long as I can remember. Great food, even better staff who welcome you like you're home. I recommend this place to everyone looking for the best fish and chips!
Went there with my family about a week ago. My brother had the burger, my dad had the chicken wings and my mom and I shared the lobster roll and seafood chowder. My dad very much enjoyed the wings, my brother said the burger was average but the fries were very good and crispy. Both my mom and I very much enjoyed the chowder, it had a thinner base then what we're used-to, but it had a very nice taste and had loads of different seafood. The lobster roll was ok, lobster was cooked great and not at all rubbery but there was too much mayo. Service was mediocre. Would go back for the chowder and wings.
Best pizza ever!. The pizza is unbeatable! hands down best pizza I've ever had, including Chicago's deep dish.
Other items on the menu are as good. one of the few places in town where you can get home quality cooking with affordable price. there's something for every taste on the menu. and all is offered by friendly staff!
Fav restaurant in Halifax. My daughter and I used to eat at Jim's atleast once a week until we moved out of the city. Now, whenever we are back for a visit we still make a point of eating there for breakfast, lunch or supper. Best. Food. Ever! It is just like eating at your favorite family members dinner table...or better :)
Favorite. Go here often for the pan fried haddock. Fresh, fast, friendly and always good. Had a few other menu items and enjoyed everything. Cheap and simple place to eat like an old time diner.

Had a very enjoyable breakfast . The eggs benedict was the best I had in years. Mary was very friendly and was very pleasent. The layout was a quaint and charming
Specially made egg white omelet was delicious, bacon perfectly cooked. Mary the sever was very friendly.
The daily specials are a great deal for those who come hungry. Offers lots of variety. I had the chicken shishkabob with Greek salad and it was fantastic. The portion sizes are generous as well. Often crowded. If I could offer one suggestion, it would be that the decor needs some change.
This place has the best clams in HRM and is one of my favorite restaurants because of the consistently good service, great food & generous portions.
At lunch time we had a spaghetti with meat sauce which was excellent, and a steak breakfast which was good. We were also pleased with the service and surroundings. I would certainly have the spaghetti again.
Edit: Later visits were even more creditworthy and warrant a five star rating.

A staple between my better half and I. Great food, fair prices, classic restaurant feel and fantastic service. We always leave nourished, happy and full.
Ordered their Jimbo seafood platter, it had grilled haddock, golden Digby scallops, clams, calamari, grilled shrimps. The seafoods were fresh, cooked to perfection. The Nine Locks dirty blonde was very good. Service was excellent.
We had a good time here reuniting with some old friends and this was a pretty good to do so. The food was pretty good but nothing special. The fried foods were a bit soggy and the wait times were a bit long but the waitress was friendly and patient with us.

Just ordered through DoorDash , I got the hot turkey 🥪 and all I gotta say is “WOAHHHHH” the chicken gravy was so unreal, honestly wanted to drink it.😆 turkey was so fresh and delicious, the mash potatoes were like grandma made them ! Overall amazing 🤩 been going to Jim’s for awhile and it hits every single time !! (Also I forgot to take a pic cause it was so good , so here’s the photo I took half way through 😂)
Wonderful place! The waitresses are so friendly and accommodating. Seafood platter is very tasty and filling. Got coconut cream pie for dessert and it was so light and fluffy. Window seat provides a beautiful view of the harbour.
A very casual dining experience. I ordered the seafood platter and the donair plate. The sweet potato fries were too soft and limp imo and didn't have enough crunch; perhaps double frying would help do the trick. The donair plate was pretty good although a little confusing to eat with the pita sitting under all the meat. Did you want me to roll it? There was too much meat to reasonably roll though, so I'm not sure. The seafood platter was decently fried up, although I was a little confused when the haddock did not come fried as with the rest of the plate.
I will say that the most positive thing was the portion sizes which were huge. The staff and service were also great 👍👍👍
Jim's Restaurant is a solid experience for me.
