At lunch time we had a spaghetti with meat sauce which was excellent, and a steak breakfast which was good. We were also pleased with the service and surroundings. I would certainly have the spaghetti again.
Edit: Later visits were even more creditworthy and warrant a five star rating.

Ordered their Jimbo seafood platter, it had grilled haddock, golden Digby scallops, clams, calamari, grilled shrimps. The seafoods were fresh, cooked to perfection. The Nine Locks dirty blonde was very good. Service was excellent.

We had a good time here reuniting with some old friends and this was a pretty good to do so. The food was pretty good but nothing special. The fried foods were a bit soggy and the wait times were a bit long but the waitress was friendly and patient with us.

Just ordered through DoorDash , I got the hot turkey 🥪 and all I gotta say is “WOAHHHHH” the chicken gravy was so unreal, honestly wanted to drink it.😆 turkey was so fresh and delicious, the mash potatoes were like grandma made them ! Overall amazing 🤩 been going to Jim’s for awhile and it hits every single time !! (Also I forgot to take a pic cause it was so good , so here’s the photo I took half way through 😂)

Wonderful place! The waitresses are so friendly and accommodating. Seafood platter is very tasty and filling. Got coconut cream pie for dessert and it was so light and fluffy. Window seat provides a beautiful view of the harbour.

A very casual dining experience. I ordered the seafood platter and the donair plate. The sweet potato fries were too soft and limp imo and didn't have enough crunch; perhaps double frying would help do the trick. The donair plate was pretty good although a little confusing to eat with the pita sitting under all the meat. Did you want me to roll it? There was too much meat to reasonably roll though, so I'm not sure. The seafood platter was decently fried up, although I was a little confused when the haddock did not come fried as with the rest of the plate.
I will say that the most positive thing was the portion sizes which were huge. The staff and service were also great 👍👍👍
Jim's Restaurant is a solid experience for me.

Me and my partner went to Jims on Friday and had Fish & chips. Fish was nice and crispy, not greasy and the fries were hand cut. The fries were not piled high on the plate, which I liked. Recommend this place! They could upgrade their chairs though, pretty creaky.

My son, husband and I ate here on Saturday, May 13th as an early Mother's Day treat. We are from the South Shore and hadn't been there in many, many years and our son had never been there. We all ordered the smaller seafood platter and were totally in awe of the serving size. The restaurant was quite busy and we thought there would be a long wait for our food after ordering, but that was not the case. Everything arrived promptly and we all agreed that it was absolutely delicious!! Our server was very friendly and efficient. The only downfall.....after such a tastey meal.....we had no room for dessert!! ;) We will definitely make it a point to eat here again and to pass along to our friends to check our your establishment the next time they plan an outing to the city.

Of all the places to eat in Halifax this is by far my favorite. The food is always excellent without fail. It's the one place I can truly say I have never eaten a bad meal. The staff are wonderful and friendly and I love the family owned feel here. Sitting in the back looking out over the harbour is lovely. Can't wait to try the deck on a warm sunny summer day! I always love coming back here. You can never go wrong with Jim's!

Sorry to say I will not return to this restaurant. Six women on a girls weekend and chose to go here because of the four and one half rating. I ordered lasagna, well I got what we call goulash with mozzarella on top ate a few fork fulls and was very disappointed that it had not the hint of being lasagna.the waitress did not ask why I did not eat it I am assuming because she is used to people not eating the food there. Please give your cook a lesson on making lasagna and using the correct items to include in it, Thank you

I have no idea how people can say bad things about this restaurant. Myself, my family & friends go there often and always have amazing service & delicious food. My finace who travels down to NS from Denmark every so often says it is her favorite place to eat. :) Keep up the good work. Your place is always busy for a reason :)

Not good. Soup was like canned soup with stuff added. Vegetables were definitely cooked much earlier in the day. They were cold. Bread for the soup was cold. Not a good meal for us.

Went there with my family about a week ago. My brother had the burger, my dad had the chicken wings and my mom and I shared the lobster roll and seafood chowder. My dad very much enjoyed the wings, my brother said the burger was average but the fries were very good and crispy. Both my mom and I very much enjoyed the chowder, it had a thinner base then what we're used-to, but it had a very nice taste and had loads of different seafood. The lobster roll was ok, lobster was cooked great and not at all rubbery but there was too much mayo. Service was mediocre. Would go back for the chowder and wings.

I have been here in the past and had good fish and chips but the last two times were not great . The last time was simply terrible the fish was soggy with grease and you could smell the oil . We showed the waitress and she agreed and then asked me what we wanted her to do . Well, get us fresh fish, not soggy fish ? We ordered 2 three pieces and when she came back she only brought us 2 pieces . We had only taken I bite . Needless to sat it looked like they but the soggy fish back in the fryer , it was crispier on the outside but soggy with grease on the inside . I eat fish and chips at johns lunch so I know what it should taste like . I was very disappointed and I will never go back again . Too many better choices and poor customer service .

We ordered large donair pizza on Jan 31,2015. We were so shocked because it was so sweet. However, it doesn't mention on the menu. We called them to return and have other order, but they were not helpful, they said the standard of donair sauce is sweet, so no need to mention. I think in this case, they should mention every details about their dishes not all people knows what donair sauce is and they supposed to listen to their customers.

Poor service. First and last time for our family. We were seated immediately...unfortunately it took 15 minutes for anyone to even look at us. Was going to leave but didn't want to embarrass ourselves. Food was ok but nothing special. Bagged frozen fries. Will spend my hard earned dollars elsewhere.

Has Gone Completely Down Hill. After many years of going to Jim's, I won't be going back. The food has really gone down hill, I don't know if it is under new ownership? For the price, you can get much better quality elsewhere. On top of the poor food there were mistakes in service, menu items not available and complete air of disregard by the staff. The upside of not going back is that I no longer have to worry about smelling like fried food when I walk out the door!

Fav restaurant in Halifax. My daughter and I used to eat at Jim's atleast once a week until we moved out of the city. Now, whenever we are back for a visit we still make a point of eating there for breakfast, lunch or supper. Best. Food. Ever! It is just like eating at your favorite family members dinner table...or better :)

The daily specials are a great deal for those who come hungry. Offers lots of variety. I had the chicken shishkabob with Greek salad and it was fantastic. The portion sizes are generous as well. Often crowded. If I could offer one suggestion, it would be that the decor needs some change.
