I have no idea how anyone can rate Ela's below a 4 star. We've gone multiple times and have never had an issue. Food came at a reasonable time, always hot/cold depending on what's bought, always delicious and perfectly cooked. Our drinks are always flavorful and the right temperature as well (coffee, or alcoholic) and our desserts are actually quite addictive. And always a good amount of food. I think the world has become so overweight (myself included) that we think a nice meal at a restaurant is supposed to over stuff you. My meal at Ela's has always been (appetizer, meal, dessert) a perfect amount and fully satisfies me without stuffing me. I can not wait to go again and will add to my review with more specifics as it has been over a year since I managed to treat myself last.
Ela is one of my favorite restaurants in Halifax. Food is always delicious and great attentive servers. My friend and I enjoyed our meal, chicken ravioli in an ouzo cream sauce. It was absolutely amazing. We enjoyed a glass of red Kouros wine and the stuffed grape leaves. Chantelle, our server was awesome. It was my friend's first time at Ela's and she will definitely bring her family next time. Living in Clayton Park, it's wonderful to have a Greek restaurant in the neighborhood.
Enjoyed some souvlaki and spanakopita while out on relaxing Sunday afternoon.
Excellent service and great food, the atmosphere is very nice.
A really great spot. The atmosphere is warm and comfortable, our waitress was really kind and friendly, and the food was so good! I tried the chicken shawarma, greek salad, and fries for my meal. The mediterranean trio appetizer was great as well!
Hosted a large group (23) in the private room. The staff was phenomenal! Food and drinks were served quickly and accurately. The food was delicious and portions were large (perhaps too large!). The final bill was significantly less than expected, which was a wonderful bonus. Would recommend for hosting your holiday party,!
Very delicious Greek food in Halifax! Service is amazing and the restaurant is very clean.
Pleasant restaurant with many delicious food options. I found the moussaka to be moist and favourful. I enjoyed every bite. The Greek salad was okay, but I would have preferred a bit more dressing.
The server was very pleasant. I was surprised that I had to go to the counter to pay, and I waited quite a while for someone to notice that I wanted to pay. I guess it's a sign of time. They seemed to be short-staffed.
I wasn't intending to purchase wine, and I was glad of that. I was shocked to see a 5-ounce glass of wine on the menu for $13.00. Alcohol prices have recently increased in Nova Scotia, but I think that price is high.
I recommend ela! if you are in the mood for Greek food.
The staff here is very friendly and the food is always delicious. Our favorites are the calamari and the lemon haddock. I tried a cosmo this time and it was really good as well.
Update March 2023 - chicken penne, roasted red pepper dip, and calamari Greek salad were outstanding. Large portions.
As always, Ela's was a pleasurable experience. The decor and atmosphere takes you away from the hustle and bustle of the "outside" to a relaxing interior reminiscent of an Italian garden.
We ordered the lamb sandwich and gnocchi (one of my favorites!). My only note regarding the gnocchi was that it was missing the tomatoes.
If you are looking for Greek vibes and nice sit down meal this is the place to be ! Very good food with so many options to choose from including many vegan and gluten-free friendly choices. The staff are really attentive and helpful. You can come here just for two or big group.
The service was friendly and efficient.
The food:
Saganaki
Fish Cakes
Dinner Lamb Pasta
Chicken Shawarma Dinner
We really enjoyed the food here. Everything was delicious but it was a bit pricey. The portion size was perfect.
Delicious food! Great atmosphere!
