After hearing nothing but great reviews of this restaurant, we finally tried it out tonight for my birthday and it was everything I hoped it would be. The moment we arrived, the staff were friendly, professional, relaxed. We chose to sit upstairs in the dining room where the full dinner menu was available because I was in the mood for a decent steak. As the hostess led us to our table, I was impressed by the serious, luxurious decor of the room. A small, walk-in, seamless glass-walled wine cooler greets you at the top of the staircase. Lacquered wood tables flanked by large, dark gray, velvet-wrapped wingbacks, drum pendants hang overhead along the front windows. The center tables; curved banquettes in navy mohair, brass accent lighting casting down a soft golden glow. Cozy, yet sensuous. Our server, Rob, arrives promptly, was personable and knowledgeable. After looking at the drink menu, I chose a Hell Bay dark cream ale, perfect for a blustery, cold, January evening. The wine list is extensive but not overwhelming. The beer selection is carefully edited, a balanced mix of craft and factory. Spirits run the gamut. We peruse the dinner menu and it wasn't hard to make up our minds. Alex goes with the prix fix three-course winter Dine Around menu of a salmon appetizer, beef cheek marbella main, and a whoppie pie for desert. Filling to the point some of it came home for lunch tomorrow, all pre-selected items were approved of. I went with the Gochjang mussels-frites, basically chili paste and coconut milk with fresh basil. Delicious! For my main, a juicy, Pittsburgh rare 8oz tenderloin encrusted with Stilton blue cheese melted in my mouth. Roasted fingerlings, beets, Brussels sprouts, and cauliflower followed suit. Since I do not like chocolate, the dessert menu had 2 items sans-cocoa. As full as I was, one item looked too tempting to pass up. I went with the Apple Mille-Feuille. Cinnamon puff pastry with cider poached apples, and vanilla cream custard. A sizable portion but incredibly light. A perfect ending to an exceptional meal. It's no secret that Halifax has a great bar and restaurant scene, this place only solidifies that acclaim even more.
Fantastic environment and atmosphere. The staff made us feel welcomed, while maintaining a professional and classy approach. Our waiter recommended the perfect steak and wine combo, with the steak cooked perfectly and bursting with flavour. Plating and presentation were phenomenal, and the wait was surprisingly short for how busy they were. Unbelievable whiskey selection, and despite having a broad range of cocktails to choose from, they made one off-menu for my girlfriend that she loved. It wasn't even as pricey as I was expecting, but worth every penny. My only regret was not coming back for breakfast.
If you would like an amazing culinary experience then you should definitely try the Barrington Steakhouse! From the moment we walked in, we were treated like royalty. The staff were absolutely incredible. The host, the server, the bartender were all so great and made our dinning experience unforgettable. The food though, was definitely where the term “chef’s kiss” must have originated from. It was quite evident, that the chef takes pride in all of the dishes. The Beef Wellington well exceeded my expectations. Definitely 5 star rating!
Came here for a work party! Great service but only knocked a star off because it took almost 2 hours before we got our appetizer. Our serve Ben was great and was very pleasant. Medium rare steak was delicious. Good portions had to get a take out container.
My partner and I went on a date to Barrington Street Steakhouse for dinner tonight and I am absolutely floored by the wonderful service, food and atmosphere we experienced while dining. Our server, (Izzy) was so personable and knew the menu items so well and was able to make the most wonderful suggestions. We had Oysters, Ceviche, Steak and Salmon and each dish had our mouths watering. We will be suggesting Barrington Steakhouse to all of our friends!! You certainly won’t be disappointed with this place. Ask for Izzy when you make a reservation!! She’s absolutely fantastic!
Wow. What an incredible spot to have dinner. Food, staff and atmosphere are all amazing. Oyster selection is outstanding and wine and drink menus offer a very wide selection. Our waitress “from Ukraine” was exceptional and oh so friendly. Will definitely recommend this place for a relaxing and or romantic evening.
A beautiful experience with my Fiance, the atmosphere service and food was amazing. The oysters were so fresh and my Bourbon aged steak was the best steak I ever had, the staff was very accommodating even though we bled into the late evening celebrating our engagement. Would highly recommend for any milestone event hands down. I wish I remembered our servers name but she was very nice and gave us such a wonderful night for that we thank you 😊
The beef wellington and beets were fantastic. Pro tip: call ahead and reserve the Wellington if you want to guarantee availability since they only have a few of them prepped 🫡
Some of the best food I've ever had. The staff are very well educated on their food. The music is lovely, and the Victorian aesthetic is very much appreciated
One of the fanciest restaurants in town. Good wine selection, good steaks, nice decor and attentive service.
Excellent service and good food. Tge quality of food was awesome. I ordered the cigar tenderloin, medium rare and it was awesome. One of the best steak i had ever eaten. The oysters either raw or bake were also good. I liked the raw better. The desert, raspberry cheesecake was also delicious. Really recommend have dinner here.
Delicious steak! The atmosphere is great for a nice date or celebration. Very quiet and elegant. We got the ribeye and tenderloin steak with the double stuffed potatoes as a side.
