Absolutely incredible broth. This iekei style really is an excellent balance of elegant flavour & creaminess. Toppings are simple, but when the bowl is so good, you barely even notice (4.5/5).

I've tasted better ramen out there but I really like the lunch special and it's price. I come here with coworkers sometimes. Really good place to come out and have a chat.

Heard many good things about this ramen shop near metro town. I have never heard of iekei style ramen before since most places I go to are tonkatsu style. But it was actually quite delicious!! I had the house special which is actually their shoyu ramen and it's one of the best tasting shoyu ramen that I've tried so far! I'll be back for sure.

This will be our regular ramen shop around metrotown! Its location is central and just on Kingsway. The soup is the best among the whole bowl of ramen. It is rich and full of favor! This shop also allows you to choose the hardness of the noodles. I always prefer the harder one :) Their size is also quite generous. I ordered a medium, as I was starving. Medium is 1.5 of their regular. I could barely finished my bowl. One thing that can be improved is their cha siu (pork). It is very ordinary cha siu with not much favor and quite lean. If there is an option I would love to order a plain ramen coz their soup is really good!

Their soup bases are so unique in the sense that you can add your adjust it to suit your own taste: add your own ginger, chili bean paste and garlic. One of the best ramen places I’ve had!

After catching a late afternoon showing of Ready Player One at Metrotown, which by the way was FANTASTIC, I was famished and was going to hit up one of those awesome joints near Joyce and Kingsway…until I got one of those dreaded Translink Alert texts “Expo Line currently experiencing delays…”. So I decided to eat around the mall instead, and I had heard interesting things about Yaguchiya Ramen and how they’re an authentic chain from Japan.

Another ramen spot by Metrotown. I had the Shoyu Ramen and bf had the Spicy Ramen. We both got the Medium size. I loved the amount of noodles it came with (no need to get extra). The broths weren't too thick and quite flavourful. The chashu could've been fattier but overall, we enjoyed it. I still like Jinya better for that area, but nice to know there's another option if waits are too long

Last year, a new ramen shop opened up in the former location of Seoul Cafe on Kingsway, across from Metropolis at Metrotown. I know that’s not too unusual since 3-4 new ramen shops opened up in this area around the same time, but in this case, I’m referring to Yaguchiya Ramen which is a small chain of iekie-style (house-type) ramen originating in Yokohama, Japan.

Good Iekei style ramen which is true to it's Yokohama roots. Soup is perfect and noodle portion is amazing. I've become a regular for lunch.

We had visions, my partner and I, of taking the walk along the water from Waterfront Station to Denman Street for lunch but, oh man the wind was cruel. We needed to get from a sky train station to a nearby bowl of soup! So Yaguchiya fit the bill, but just barely (and from Metrotown Station not Waterfront by the way.) ! I mean it was a cold day! Yaguchiya is a slightly humbler, smallish but pleasant version of the impressive Ramen places downtown. It roots remain fine though going back to Yokohama in 1996. The broth here is a mix of pork and chicken and my partner found it preferable to the richer, pork only broths of some other places. We had one Shoyu Ramen and one Yaguchiya Special Ramen, the difference being an egg, an extra piece of chashu and leek in the special. The menu says that there are a few options as to noodle firmness, broth richness etc. but we were not offered these and its just as well as I am easily confused. The egg itself was chilly in the middle (did not come split but whole) which was a little disappointing. I tried their recommendation of garlic, ginger, pepper paste, vinegar and black pepper additions and found it to be a fine recommendation! We also had a small Kakuni Bowl on the side. The braised pork was luxurious. Nice people. We sat comfortabley at the front window and enjoyed watching the world go by. Not a bad option if you are at Metrotown.
