We wanted to eat at an authentic Japanese restaurant, and were hoping to try one that we hadn't already tried before. After a bit of searching on Google, my husband chose Uma Sushi . It's a small and quiet restaurant, only about half a block away from the busyness of Cambie St. With a 4.5 star rating on Google, it sounded like a very promising restaurant so we were very much looking forward to this meal. While we couldn't really find fault with the food, we just weren't blown away by it either. Their sushi donuts were visually stunning but when it came to eating them, they tasted quite ordinary and handling them was a bit of a challenge. Just my own personal opinion: Perhaps air frying them into Yaki sushi donuts might have made them easier to handle and given them a bit more flavor as well? Aburi Sushi was good but we felt that we'd actually had better Aburi elsewhere, at restaurants with lower ratings.
