Omg i love this place . You can realy feel the traditional feeling when eating the authentic sushi . I just love it the rice so tasty with vinegar , fish are soooo goood ......
Good food and affordable price. All the rolls me and my boyfriend tasted were so good especially the Sakura! Loved the baked oysters and the halibut tempera!! Cute place with excellent service, we were seated and food was served all within 15 minutes! At the end we were surprised to have such quality food with the low price it comes. Definitely coming back!!
Love the place, fish is great quality, rolls great! They will custom make them if you wish but selection on menu is wonderful. The owners are wonderful and friendly :) I moved away but it's a must do "visit" each time I come home.
My usual spot. I have been going to Chikara for years, it may not be the best Japanese ever but it's never busy, there is parking right outside, you get your own booth and the food is always good. I love their bento box options for dinner and the price is pretty good for the amount of food you get. They do you a sesame sauce for the rice but it's not quite the same as JV's steak sauce I'd probably skip it .
Great Takeout Experience!. My friend and I had a date for movies and sushi the other night and I suggested we try Chikara, and we were not disappointed. The ninja roll (tempura tuna) was the highlight of the meal, agedashi tofu was perfect and hot despite sitting in the car for 1/2 an hour, and we were happy to be able to get rice with sesame sauce. Not a cheap meal, but a pretty perfect takeout experience.
First times a charm.. My ladyfriend and I went today for the first time. We enjoyed the lunch special bento box, 2 rolls (spider & spicy salmon), and some salmon nigiri. All of which was fresh and delicious! I was kindof detoured when I first walked in to the slightly over powering smell of fish - but I figured where I was it was ok. And I was completely happy with everything; quality, service, cleanliness, and affordability. They even have (for 75 cents) the famous sesame sauce (aka JV steak sauce).
The best sushi in Victoria! The rolls are huge!! Reasonably priced and it really has an authentic Japanese feel to the restaurant. Highly recommend.

A little bit out of the way for many downtown and residential diners, but Chikara is easily one of the best places for sushi in Victoria. Very attentive staff and a very calming atmosphere. While some aspects like the menu might make it seem a little dated and they usually don't have a fresh sheet or specials, it's actually well worth checking out. The food is great, best yam roll hands down, and they are more than willing to make any modifications you might need.

Lovely traditional place. Not busy which is surprising. The sushi rice is so yummy and top notch miso soup. Servers and chefs are very welcoming. Very reasonable prices. We come here regularly and have never been dissapointed. It is also a very relaxing atmosphere.
I love the set up. It's like you're in Japan! They have private booths you can sit in. The food is so good! And the staff are lovely and attentive. This is probably my favourite place for Japanese food.
I consider this Sushi restaurant to be a hidden gem in Victoria. I almost don't want to share it with you, but this place deserves the recognition.
The restaurant has a pleasant quiet atmosphere, the staff are always very friendly and welcoming.
The food is delicious. I normally order a couple rolls, miso soup, agadashi tofu, and sashimi. I do also enjoy the warm house sake they serve. The portion sizes are quite good and the prices are reasonable.
