I've just finished lunch .. never been here before .. one of the best lunches I've had in 20 years .. the mac and cheese is exactly how my mom makes it (don't tell her) and I love the homemade bread for the sandwiches .. and best of all, not only was your staff fast, but also so friendly, it shows that they all like their jobs :)
Would highly recommend to friends and family. Everything was made with care and I got a very large portion for breakfast that I couldn't even finish! The staff make you feel right at home and I would certainly say this was the best breakfast that I've had in a long time. I may even show up in my jammies next time! :)

Simple, no fuss, classic.
Prices range from $6 to $12 - everything is homemade, even the bread, and ingredients are locally sourced (which is a rarity nowadays). The freshly baked bread makes the sandwich better than anywhere else in the neighbourhood in my opinion.
This new location on corner of Goldstream/Jacklin is larger than the previous one in Colwood.
Customize your sandwich fixings at the deli counter and eat in or grab n go for a picnic at Langford Lake. The place can get busy at lunch rush.
Choose from traditional sandwich, wrap or grilled panini. Bread is soft and delicious, and doesn't need to be toasted it's that good. Even the roast beef and turkey are oven roasted in their kitchen.
They are known for their scratch-made soups offering up 3 daily options (they have a monthly menu board so you know what's coming). Don't forget the cookies - they are classically delicious and also baked fresh daily.
They used to do a really good traditional breakfast menu on Sundays until 2pm. More tasty comfort food like eggs benny, omelettes, pancakes, waffles... (But I can understand if they need a day off!)
The owner, John, is a retired navy cook who is passionate about dishing out satisfying homemade comfort food (he's in the back kitchen every morning at 6am prepping for the day)
Nice to support local family community-minded business, especially in Langford.
Closed on Sundays and early-ish during week so enjoy for lunch or early dinner.
Their Thai curry chicken soup on monthly menu is amazing and i love their multi grain bread.Just wished they had more veggie options and they were clearly marked as veggie in their menu posted on their website
Fantastic home style soups and sandwiches! The decor is very simple and plain but we don't go for the ambiance we come for the food. Everything is made there fresh from scratch. It is a little more on the expensive side, but that's because they are using quality ingredients and not the pre packaged processed stuff.

Best place in town. If you want a delicious soup and generous meat sandwich this is the place to go. Everything is fresh made in house, fresh bread, real roast beef, real sliced turkey breast. None of that processed junk you get at other sandwich places. If you arrive for lunch and it's lined up out the door, stick around. It's well worth the wait I assure you.
Best roast beef dip sandwich. Being a big meat eater, I wanted to try the beef dip from Dad's. I was blown away with the quality and flavor of the meat. It was stacked with meat. I was asked if I wanted to try the Monterey Jack and I said sure. Boy was I ever glad I did. It was, without doubt, my best lunch experience ever !
The best soups and sandwiches on the island. I have tried almost every soup here and when I get asked what my favourite is, I end up rattling off several answers. The service is great and I always leave very pleased. Recommend it for anyone and everyone
Soup is so good. If you are looking for great homemade soups and sangy's, you should really check out Dad's. Good amount of meat on your sandwich with lots of topping choices. For me, the soups are my favourite and hope you get a chance to try them too!

Just visiting the Island from a freezing cold Edmonton, AB and today is my last day here before heading east again. I googled 'best soup and sandwiches near me' and this is what came up so I thought I'd give it a try. I expected a small 'mom and pop' type place and that's what I got. Great homemade bread, great homemade soups, great sandwich, great staff. What threw me for a loop was the Military memorabilia when I walked inside. As a Veteran, it's awesome to see support for the troops, but in the case of this place, I knew people who sailed on a number of the ships and submarines represented here and that choked me up. The only thing I couldn't find was the plaque representing my ship though, unless it was hiding; HMCS Provider.
You have a great place here, I would definitely recommend it to anyone, and should I be back on the Island in the future, I'll come again.

I ordered the Reuben sandwich and it's one of the best I've ever had. The portions are large and worth every penny.
Great clam chowder. Friendly Staff. Great sandwich in a nice
clean restaurant. Only thing to mention is the one girl behind the counter (glasses) talks very loud and too much, in that the
customers can hear every word she says while enjoying their meal.
Nice rotating selection of soups. Had the clam chowder and French onion and the grilled Reuben sandwich. It was really really good. Lunch counter type service. Nice clean dining area and very fast service. Various types of sandwiches available. A glass of water would have been nice to have available butotherwise it was perfect for a light lunch. Couldn't finish the sandwich and it still awesome having it a few hours later. Will definitely go back and try other soups and sandwiches.
Great soup and sandwich with lots of varieties. All options seem to be mostly non-vegetarian, but the sandwiches are healthy, homemade, full of stuff, and lovely :) the soups are also pretty hardy- be warned a soup and salad combination is actually a ton of food here! Super helpful staff, great selections, and overall a nice chill atmosphere.

If you having a hard time getting up in the morning or having a bad day, come here. The food will give you the reason life isn’t that bad and there is good in the world. The soups are heart warming and the sandwiches are moral boosters to the soul. The staff are always friendly and full of kindness so the rest of your day can be filled with sunshine. Seriously the best place to get soups and sangy’s on the island.

This place is AMAZING!!! They bake all their own breads, there are 5 to choose from! The roast their own turkey and beef right there as well! Toppings are fresh, and plentiful, and every sandwich is made beautifully!!
Every day they have three soups to choose from, and I believe the lady told me on Fridays, they have seven different homemade soups!! If you order soup, I don't recommend getting a sandwich as well, as you get a huge chunk of buttered bread with it!!
The staff are super friendly as well!! Everything is clean. It can get quite the line up at the lunch hour, but all good things come with patience!!
I have never been disappointed here, The staff are very friendly and make you feel welcome every time, The soups and sandwiches are great (obviously made with care ) and there breakfast sandwich is second to none, what a hidden gem, keep it up this is what the world needs
