Located on Victoria Drive near 54th Avenue, HBN has a small dining room of 3 tables but does some serious take out business. Obviously, their speciality is wonderful beef noodle soup but we tried a few other things as well, starting with Flavoured Seaweed. Just a mild hint of the ocean and nice tender texture, this was a good way to start the meal. We love Deep Fried Tofu and this one featured Chili Salt and a lot of garlic which we carefully placed on top of each bite. It was nicely crispy with a velvety interior. These were pork dumplings, pan-fried with a vinegar dipping sauce. They were decent and came with green onion pancake. The green onion pancake was decent also. They came together for only $7.25 (?). A good price for some nice standby plates. You can't get too excited but I liked them. But we came for soup! And their soup really was special! The Beef Noodle with tendon was rich and just a little spicy. They were generous with the tendon and the beef was tender. The noodles were on the thick side and chewy which we loved and there was bok choy and a dollop of pickled cabbage on top to round out the dish. This was wonderful and comforting and worth putting on your list! Finally, we tried one of our favourites, Taiwanese Fried Chicken. I intended to order this on rice but accidentally ordered it in soup. It was not a bad mistake. The chicken was excellent with just a hint of basil and dropping pieces into the soup made it even better. Not surprisingly, we got chicken broth this time and it was also rich and tasty. Another empty dining room for my collection but at least this one had us in the corner and 2 more open for customers.

This place has been around for years. I finally had a chance to try it. I was picking up some dog food next door, (bosleys), and it was raining. It was the perfect time for a hot bowl of noodle soup.

Upon entering, it's a small place. Family owned and they have a very small menu. My girlfriend and I choose number 1.

I was pleasantly surprised and it tasted wonderful. I added a condiment chili for a touch of heat. It's oily but not overly oily, at least for our first time.
The dumplings we weren't impressed but that's OK. We were more focused on the beef noodles.
Would we come back again?
Yes.

This noodle place has literally been here since I was little! I never have thought to come here as it’s also so close to home, I can literally can walk here and then grab a slurpee after from 7-11! Serving up traditional Taiwanese beef noodles, their noodles have stayed consistently good for as long as they have been around. A very tiny family run place, it feels like you are entering somebody’s home for lunch/dinner here. I’m sure if you go regularly and order the same dishes, the owners will remember what your order will be all the time.

I walk by the restaurant all the time on my way to the library. The place never seems very full but I think that has to do with the fact that everyone seems to eat on the outer edges, which makes it feel more like a private experience.

When I walked inside I was greeted with a beautiful warmth and the soothing scent of sesame oil. It was quite lovely. I ordered the beef noodle soup (not the spicy one) which was around $8 and waited comfortably for about 15 minutes for my order.

I walked home carrying a bag of two plastic containers, chopsticks, a plastic soup spoon and a napkin. The noodles, bok choy and some mysterious savoury goodness was in one container. The broth with the beef topped with green onions was in the other. I heated up the broth on its own because I was chilled to the bone, I wanted hot soup!

I put everything together and it was delicious. The beef was very tender, the noodles were perfect and yes, lots of sesame oil which was so comforting. It was a bit spicy so I am so glad I did not order the “spicy” version, would have been too much for me.

Absolute comfort food. The restaurant was much more homey than I was expecting and the lady working there was very friendly. I give this foodie experience five out of five wooden spoons.

Went to this place on a weekday afternoon, restraint was half full, self seating, two person team, husband and wife restaurant, ordered minced pork on rice, beef noodle soup, that's their specialty, spicy wonton, and green onion pan cake, all were good, I recommend this little neighborhood restaurant.

This restaurant serve Taiwanese food. Inside only have less than 10 tables so it's quite small. The food cost is cheap, everything less than 10 dollars. The beef noodles is good but way too oily. I like the deep fried pork chop and shanghai steam dumpling. The sesame paste noodle is too dry.

Family owned restaurant that never disappoints. Always satisfying on a rainy Vancouver day. Friendly owner and everything is tasty- and I've tried just about everything! Can't go wrong here. Favourite: beef noodle soup as well as any of their dumplings. Chicken on rice is good too.

I disagree with another review that Huang's does not usually serve their beef noodles topped with oil. My spicy beef noodle ALWAYS come perfectly cooked and not a lot of grease. The flavor of their broth is hearty and warming. I always get the skinny noodles and it comes perfectly al dente. The beef slices are full of flavor and it's delicious when it comes to it being smaller pieces. They are definitely a hole in the wall kinda mom and pop type of restaurant. This makes them so yummy and unpretentious. No stomach aches either.

On the first night in Vancouver, we went to a Taiwanese Noodle place near my cousin's house. Mike had the regular beef noodle soup, and I had the tripe noodle soup. The soup and noodles were tasty and we were satisfied, if not a little thirsty from the MSG. We topped off our experience with some siu long baos. This was noodle soup meal #1. Stay tuned for more.
