There's a number in this restaurant's name, so it should be authentic (according to Ali Wong). I loved how the pho noodle soups were available in 3 different sizes (S, L, XL), all priced reasonably. I got small, and it was just right for me. I also really enjoyed the broth. The entire restaurant had a casual ambience and was relatively clean too, compared to most pho noodle places I've been to.
Size small unavailable for take-outs: I was going to add a take-out order for mom at home. I wanted to get the small size pho noodle soup but was told that for take-outs, smallest size was L because they did not have the containers for small. But am I the only one who doesn't see the rationale behind this? I'd understand if large can't fit into small, but....?? Nevertheless, I did order and it's was enjoyable at home too.
Pho Xe Lua 24 is a little restaurant on Cambie Street serving up traditional Vietnamese food. A few of us came here for dinner an event. We all haven’t been to this restaurant yet, so we decided to come in and give it a try. Just note, it is cash only. Shrimp Salad Rolls comes with 4 pieces and a dipping sauce. It good, packed with vermicelli noodles, lettuce and shrimp held together by the rice paper. The sauce was delicious too.
Looking for something warm and cheap on Cambie street, fellow food bloggers “Foodology”, “Foodgressing”, and myself found ourselves deciding between Chinese or Vietnamese food. After a discussion of our options, and the consensus of which restaurant we have all yet to try, our destination became “Pho Xe Lua 24”
At Pho Xe Lua 24, the phở comes in small ($8.75), large ($9.75) and extra large ($10.75). The three of us shared the extra large House Special with rice noodles. The bowl arrived at our table steaming hot. The meat to noodle ratio was very reasonable and the broth was light and flavourful. Meat was tender and thinly sliced while the noodles were slightly chewy. Pho-bulous, my friends, pho-bulous.
Love Love Love. Been here a few too many times and always get the same thing. The shrimp salad rolls with peanut sauce are the best I've ever had. they are so fresh the noodles are still warm when you get them. I can hardly eat them from anywhere else now. I also get the chicken ball and vegetable soup. The broth is the best Pho broth I've ever had. Very flavorful and comforting. The vegetables are also cooked to perfection. Still nice and crunchy.
I've also tried the spring rolls and they are amazing. Very crispy and deep fried, but a nice treat. The only other thing I tried was a beef and rice meal. I can't remember what it was called, but it was delicious. Very gingery.
The wait staff are great. Very friendly. Most of them don't speak a whole lot of English, but we've never had any problems with it.
Anyways. I love this place!
One of the better lemongrass chicken. Big pieces of boneless thighs.

I have no idea what BBQ pork supreme paste is but it just seemed like the Vietnamese version of BBQ pork. The grilled beef was a bit sweet and had a texture that was similar to beef jerky but not quite. The spring rolls were good though!
