My friends and I have been following the owner, Cindy, for almost 12 years now, even when they were on Broadway and Nanaimo. The dim sum is delicious and well priced especially for its large portion sizes. I also come with my family and friends for dinner and we all love it.

Surprisingly, I have not yet been to Cindy’s Palace. With so many dim sum options around this area, we always end up going somewhere else. I always forget this place exists actually.

We came here for breakfast on a weekday. The place was fairly quiet even with more of half the tables occupied. We tried a few less common dim sum. We especially liked the ginseng chicken soup, and the salmon head soup with Chinese herbs.

My family and I go here pretty often because they have really good dim sum. It's not usually busy and you can get your food in less time that other restaurants. Although, there were a few times where the wait was really long. I have a lot of favourites from their menu such as the shumai, soy sauce chow mein, shrimp spring rolls, and the deep fried squid. I think their lunch menu is better than their dinner menu because many of my favourite dishes are not available at dinner. However, I don't like how the servers go around and try to sell u deserts. But overall, I think this is a great restaurant and I enjoy their food.

First time trying this place for dim sum, even tho I live in the area. It gets noisy because of the low ceiling. It's a small place for a dim dum restaurant. Food is good and not as oily as other places. Small parking lot available at the back.

Their dim sum is literally the best hangover cure in the world! Super cheap and decent food! Normally a bit of a wait for a table but it's worth it on those rough mornings!

When trying to find an early Sunday morning breakfast place, where all others are closed, you can be sure some where there is an Asian restaurant that meets your needs. And where all Chinese dim sum places don't open until 9:30 or 10 am there is "Cindy's Palace". Leave it to my mother to find the most obscure dim sum place open at 9am when we needed it. On the exterior this was no palace, an old house at the end of the block, converted into a neigbourhood Chinese seafood restaurant. The red lateens with golden trim that hung along the make shift awning were a nice touch. They made a good contrast against the black painted bricks on the building.   As per protocol for most Chinese restaurants, no focus is put on merchandising or decor. Practicality is key. The bar is your first stop before you are directed to your table. Behind it is a mess of piled up papers and windbreakers resting on top of each other. To the side, cafeteria trays are stack with ceramic dish ware and cutlery, in prep

Rice flour rolls, stuffed with shrimp, drizzled with a sweet soy. A very straightforward and simple dish, executed well.

Last week I attended the eighth ChineseBites Signature Dishes Tour at Cindys Palace . Cindys Palace is a Chinese restaurant located at Nanaimo and 2nd ave. We started the meal off with a few dim sum items. The deep fried shrimp cakes were coated in a crisp, thin batter. The batter had a nice amount of crunch to it that contrasted with the springy texture of the shrimp inside. We were served two different sauces with these, which made them extra tasty. The shrimp spring roll with wasabi was a good standard spring roll. The spring rolls were filled exclusively with shrimp and wrapped in a freshly deep fried crispy wrapper. The pork dumplings were the biggest siu mai I’ve ever had. The meaty pork and shrimp mixture had a nice flavour and a juicy bouncy consistency. The crispy tofu topped with vegetables in Thai sauce reminded me of a Japanese agedashi tofu. The tofu was coated in a crispy batter and topped with shredded cucumbers, carrots, and bean sprouts. The sweet chili sauce that cove

The Golden Sand crab knuckles was served hot and fresh from the wok. While rich, this preparation of the knuckles did not mask the sweetness of the meat if we had ordered it stir-fried in salt and pepper. We had a stir-fried vegetable and seafood dish to round out the meal. Dessert was complimentary. Overall, a great meal!
