Nabebugyo Hot Pot Cuisine was a Japanese individual hot pot place opened in mid 2016. It was a hype in the foodie world because they were bridging Japanese and North American culture by not accepting tips. We have featured a few individual hot pot restaurants, but Japan is where this culture originated. This restaurant provides high-quality food and service that is worth multiple visits. Nabebugyo is located on Cambie Street and 16th Avenue in Vancouver

I’m not the biggest hot pot fan but when it’s Japanese style hot pot, I’m game. We finally went to try out Nabebugyo. They’re located close to Vij’s. Hours are slightly obscured due to all the steam permeating to the glass windows. We dropped in on a Friday evening (around 6:30pm). The place was busy so we put wrote our names on the waiting list (you can choose to sit at the counter or tables). Wait time wasn’t bad and they take your order before you get seated (just like in Japan). Service is good but a tad quiet. Like the whole jug of water that they provide at every station.

Ben and I finally get to try the ramen hot pot from Nabegugyo Hot Pot Cuisine on Cambie St. on a Friday evening. We had wanted to check this place out for several times but just did not make it. There is a communal long U shape table and several 2 and 4 seater tables. We were seated at the communal table. It reminds me of a hot pot place named Xiabu Xiabu that Ben and I like to go to when we were in Beijing. I did not blog about it because no photography is allowed in Xiabu Xiabu.

It's getting really cold so hot pot is the way to go! Came here on a Friday night with a friend and we were lucky we took the last 2 spots at the very end of the table near the kitchen. Both of us ordered the sukiyaki pot combo. I like dipping vegetables in the sesame sauce to get the extra nutty flavor while dipping the beef in the yuzu sauce to get the citrus flavor to wash down the fattiness. They have signs everywhere telling customers to follow the Japanese custom so tipping is neither required nor expected. This place seemed quite popular I even saw a fair number of non-Asian folks in the restaurant. The line up got quite long when we left the place.

Giving me back hope in Hot Pot style eating. Their bras are nicely done total Japanese style about balance and Clarity and clean expression of flavors. Great value for $16.95 and really fun to sit at that table the giant table with all the induction cookers. Fun, quick and wish I could top them they sooo deserved it

@Maggie, I have a feeling legit reviews are being marked as spam and thus not counting towards the total. I love this place so I felt compelled to sign up and leave a review when I saw the oddly low rating they're getting on this review site.

I live around the corner and find myself going here at least once a week. I usually go solo and sit at the common table. The kimchi miso broth has become my comfort food of late. It packs a ton of flavor. The portions are pretty large but I still feel good after scarfing it down since it's mostly fresh vegetables, rice, and some nice cuts of beef or pork.

Staff is very nice and one of the reasons I keep going back. The no tipping policy is interesting. I just wish they were open on Mondays!

I don't understand why this has a 2.8/5. We went on a Saturday night which was quite busy but didn't need to wait in line for two. Many options for soup bases.. We got sukiyaki and shabu shabu. Very delicious and fresh, only complaint is the lack of variety in vegetables. 80% of the plate was nappa cabbage and only a little bit of mushrooms. Would still recommend for people to try!!

Authentic Japanese hot pot soup bases. Sukiyaki was on the ball. For people who don't like the light taste of shabu shabu, traditional shabu shabu is literally just konbu in water so that you can taste the freshness of the meat - if you are used to more flavorful Chinese-style hot pot, this is not the broth for you. Sukiyaki also has "less liquid" than the other nabe variants - it's supposed to be more of a sauce than soup, so that's also normal. Curry + tomato is also an interesting combination - that's also 100% what I would expect from "Japanese-style Western" flavors.

With regards to the quality of the meat - it's great for the price. Hospitality is also very welcoming!

Their Sukiyaki hotpot was very authentic! I had been craving for sukiyaki pot for so long. Meat quality was good, so was the price. Will go again.
