amazing vibe, the owner -Corina - is the sweetest woman alive and will always make sure you're having a great night. Super accommodating, great events, awesome food and drink, and everyone loves a place with a high ratio of aussies. haha Karaoke on Saturdays with Triumph is also awesome! Teshawna is always willing to get in songs for you! Highly recommend this spot! :)
The place was booked out and she still made room for us. Parmies were even better than Australia and the atmosphere was great. The bartender took the time to chat with us even though he was flat out busy and he didn’t miss stride. I was thoroughly impressed, never seen a restaurant run so well under so much stress! Loved that most of the staff were Aussie with a few Canadians as well. Great job! Will come again with more Aussie mates!!
This is a pub located in Downtown, not far from Canada Place, with a large menu filled with Australian-style comfort food. I initially wanted their meat pie, but unfortunately, they were out, so I got their Shepard Pie instead. I also got their Schnitzel Parmesan. The food was tasty - I was particularly impressed by their Schnitzel Parmesan (and I've heard that their chicken version is also very tasty) - and the prices are extremely reasonable, especially for their fairly generous portions. The staff were also very friendly (with charming, presumably Australian accents). This place is definitely worth a visit.
Shepard Pie ($14.99):
3.5/5
This was served with a side salad with your choice of dressing (I had their house) and garlic bread. The shepard pie consisted of layers of mashed potatoes and ground beef smothered in gravy. The mashed potatoes were creamy while the meat was flavourful; I wasn't a big fan of the seasoning used however, I did find it to be a tad on the pungent side. The garlic bread was also quite buttery and nicely toasted. I didn't care for the salad: it seemed to be pretty under-dressed and was mostly bland greens.
Schnitzel Parmesan ($12.99):
4.5/5
This was also served with a side salad with your choice of dressing (I got ranch for this one) and garlic bread. I was very impressed with the schnitzel, which was tender and juicy, well-seasoned and quite crispy on the outside, with a good amount of cheese. Again the garlic bread was tasty, and I actually liked the salad more this time: there was much more dressing, which made the veggies much more palatable.
Summary:
Food: 4/5
Price: 4/5
Service: 4/5
Overall: 4/5
Recommendations: Schniztel Parmesan
What a great place to hang out! Recently went there to watch a World Cup game with friends. Love the ambience.
Most of all, the Aussie burger was out of the world. It was juicy and full of flavour and moreover it was huge! Definitely will go back to try some other dishes.
Ordered the Kangas & Mash the Roo had a very strong gamey flavor more noticeable than the Roo Burger and for dessert i tried this creation call Pavlova (meringue topped with whipped cream, strawberry & kiwi fruit)OMG!!! it was dangerous delicious 10 stars i highly recommend this place, don't forget to say hello to Corina(Owner) she's an absolute sweetheart
The staff is incredibly friendly. The drinks are very strong. The pizza is good. The parmies are huge! However I suggest getting one with tomato sauce as some of the others can be a bit dry without it.
I have been to “Moose’s Downunder” before. And during that first time visit I made note of their chicken parm challenge, and today I saw out my intention to attempt it. To read up on my original visit to the Australian bar visit the link below. Moose’s Down Under Bar & Grill
Came here cause my boyfriend told me there was a burger made just for me! If you don't know, well let me tell you. My kind of burger must have mushrooms, cheese, pineapple, and egg. Most importantly the egg. I'm not sure why I like the egg in the burger, but it just makes it taste that much better.
Aussie Burger - Aside from what I have already said what I like on my burger, this burger had BEETS! OMG! I LOVE BEETS. This burger was so awesome, that is all I had to say.
Service - Good. We came down just before Happy Hour where appies were 1/2 off. The lady told us to wait about 10 minutes before ordering so the system can change before we get the 1/2 off. The lady also brought us extra napkins for the burgers as she warned it would be very messy. Boy was she right!
Moose’s Down Under is a good place to get some good ol’ pub food. In terms of pricing, I am torn whether to say Moose’s Down Under is expensive or affordable. The chicken strips was kind of pricey but the burger was what you would typically expect; however, regardless of price, the food was good and I enjoyed my meal.
If you are looking for a good burger in Downtown, I would suggest to try one of Moose’s Down Under’s creation. Either the Aussie Burger or one of the DUD (Down Under Deluxe or the Big DUD) burgers will be a good choice.
Service was kind of spotty as we had to flag several servers before we got what we were asking for. We did go on a night where it looks like they were prepping for a party later on, so perhaps they were busy with other things.
The best parmies I've had outside of Australia. Lots of atmosphere, friendly staff and super good comfort food... which is authentically 'Australian' unlike Outback Steakhouse or whatever.
Aussie Burger. Great beef perfect seasonings
Surprise! Fantastic chicken strips!. I'm not a fan of the food in most pubs. I go for what's on tap. Hold the yam fries. Save your sliders, please. But last night, while sipping a Russell cream ale at the bar ($5/pint, on a Friday evening), I grabbed a chicken strip off someone's plate and -- whoa. Whoa!! That was a *damn* fine chicken strip! Juicy, tender chicken breast. Tasty breading, the right amount of greasy crunch. And amazing honey mustard dipping sauce! Wow! Simple food done right! Why isn't all pub food this good?!? Other stuff here I've sampled in the past was okay (better than anything at any Donnelly pub), but I'm definitely having those chicken strips next time!!
