amazing vibe, the owner -Corina - is the sweetest woman alive and will always make sure you're having a great night. Super accommodating, great events, awesome food and drink, and everyone loves a place with a high ratio of aussies. haha Karaoke on Saturdays with Triumph is also awesome! Teshawna is always willing to get in songs for you! Highly recommend this spot! :)
The place was booked out and she still made room for us. Parmies were even better than Australia and the atmosphere was great. The bartender took the time to chat with us even though he was flat out busy and he didn’t miss stride. I was thoroughly impressed, never seen a restaurant run so well under so much stress! Loved that most of the staff were Aussie with a few Canadians as well. Great job! Will come again with more Aussie mates!!
Corina, Sam and the entire staff are amazing! This place feels like home every time you come in. Great food, great drinks and a welcoming environment; you're missing out if you haven't checked out this hidden Vancouver gem!
Vancouver's little hidden secret! Fantastic place to watch an Aussie game, great food, brilliant drinks and a raunchy menu!!! Great manager in Corrine, bends over backwards to accomodate the punters!!!
Amazing food and service highly recommend well done to corrina and staff Thank you for a wonderful night . Ann from Down under
Had my 51 birthday here a couple of weeks ago. There were 16 of us, Corina and her staff are excellent. Fantastic food, service and atmosphere. Corina and Erin went above and beyond. Even had birthday balloons waiting for me.
You always feel welcome here. Very friendly staff.
Amazing place with amazing people!!! The food is delicious, the beers are good, I didn't really try the cocktails but one of my friends bought one and the looking was good. The prices are very competitive in order to the portion of food. The environment it's beautiful and perfect for groups... I just love it!!!
The food is great, I did the challenge and I love the way of how the chicken is treated. I usually don't like chicken breast, it's dry and not flavourful but the chicken parime is very tender like chicken steak. I'm impressed. The service is friendly and awesome. The interior is cool and the atmosphere is lively.
Awesome place and awesome staff. Friendly and welcoming and great food. Love this place.
Love the energetic staff and owner. Trivia is a fun time, great experience both times I've been there. Great specials and food. Awesome atmosphere!
Price is right, great food, great staff! Great place to go after work!
What an awesome place, Corina and her staff made us feel so welcome The food was awesome and the beers were cold, just like it should be. Will definitely be stopping by the next time we visit Vancouver!
Aussie Pub in the middle of Vancouver - exactly what we were after when we found ourselves in Vancouver for the AFL Grand Final. Just like home! Only place I encountered in Canada and US that had LAMB hamburger patties - For The Win!!!! Aussie beers, Aussie foods (Vegemite sandwich (deluxe though), Lamb hamburgers, proper Schnitties) - made missing out on Grand Final day at home an excellent 2nd - we had so much fun!!!
I was feeling homesick and this pub was perfect. The staff were amazing
Excellent service anď food. Every time we visit downtown Vancouver we look forward to a burger and a beer
We had a fantastic Australia Day celebration listening to the Top 100. Loved the Aussie decorations, food and beers. The staff were so friendly and helpful. We especially enjoyed the "worm" competition
This is a pub located in Downtown, not far from Canada Place, with a large menu filled with Australian-style comfort food. I initially wanted their meat pie, but unfortunately, they were out, so I got their Shepard Pie instead. I also got their Schnitzel Parmesan. The food was tasty - I was particularly impressed by their Schnitzel Parmesan (and I've heard that their chicken version is also very tasty) - and the prices are extremely reasonable, especially for their fairly generous portions. The staff were also very friendly (with charming, presumably Australian accents). This place is definitely worth a visit.
Shepard Pie ($14.99):
3.5/5
This was served with a side salad with your choice of dressing (I had their house) and garlic bread. The shepard pie consisted of layers of mashed potatoes and ground beef smothered in gravy. The mashed potatoes were creamy while the meat was flavourful; I wasn't a big fan of the seasoning used however, I did find it to be a tad on the pungent side. The garlic bread was also quite buttery and nicely toasted. I didn't care for the salad: it seemed to be pretty under-dressed and was mostly bland greens.
Schnitzel Parmesan ($12.99):
4.5/5
This was also served with a side salad with your choice of dressing (I got ranch for this one) and garlic bread. I was very impressed with the schnitzel, which was tender and juicy, well-seasoned and quite crispy on the outside, with a good amount of cheese. Again the garlic bread was tasty, and I actually liked the salad more this time: there was much more dressing, which made the veggies much more palatable.
Summary:
Food: 4/5
Price: 4/5
Service: 4/5
Overall: 4/5
Recommendations: Schniztel Parmesan
What a great place to hang out! Recently went there to watch a World Cup game with friends. Love the ambience.
Most of all, the Aussie burger was out of the world. It was juicy and full of flavour and moreover it was huge! Definitely will go back to try some other dishes.
Ordered the Kangas & Mash the Roo had a very strong gamey flavor more noticeable than the Roo Burger and for dessert i tried this creation call Pavlova (meringue topped with whipped cream, strawberry & kiwi fruit)OMG!!! it was dangerous delicious 10 stars i highly recommend this place, don't forget to say hello to Corina(Owner) she's an absolute sweetheart
The staff is incredibly friendly. The drinks are very strong. The pizza is good. The parmies are huge! However I suggest getting one with tomato sauce as some of the others can be a bit dry without it.
I have been to “Moose’s Downunder” before. And during that first time visit I made note of their chicken parm challenge, and today I saw out my intention to attempt it. To read up on my original visit to the Australian bar visit the link below. Moose’s Down Under Bar & Grill
Came here cause my boyfriend told me there was a burger made just for me! If you don't know, well let me tell you. My kind of burger must have mushrooms, cheese, pineapple, and egg. Most importantly the egg. I'm not sure why I like the egg in the burger, but it just makes it taste that much better.
Aussie Burger - Aside from what I have already said what I like on my burger, this burger had BEETS! OMG! I LOVE BEETS. This burger was so awesome, that is all I had to say.
Service - Good. We came down just before Happy Hour where appies were 1/2 off. The lady told us to wait about 10 minutes before ordering so the system can change before we get the 1/2 off. The lady also brought us extra napkins for the burgers as she warned it would be very messy. Boy was she right!
Moose’s Down Under is a good place to get some good ol’ pub food. In terms of pricing, I am torn whether to say Moose’s Down Under is expensive or affordable. The chicken strips was kind of pricey but the burger was what you would typically expect; however, regardless of price, the food was good and I enjoyed my meal.
If you are looking for a good burger in Downtown, I would suggest to try one of Moose’s Down Under’s creation. Either the Aussie Burger or one of the DUD (Down Under Deluxe or the Big DUD) burgers will be a good choice.
Service was kind of spotty as we had to flag several servers before we got what we were asking for. We did go on a night where it looks like they were prepping for a party later on, so perhaps they were busy with other things.
The best parmies I've had outside of Australia. Lots of atmosphere, friendly staff and super good comfort food... which is authentically 'Australian' unlike Outback Steakhouse or whatever.
Aussie Burger. Great beef perfect seasonings
Surprise! Fantastic chicken strips!. I'm not a fan of the food in most pubs. I go for what's on tap. Hold the yam fries. Save your sliders, please. But last night, while sipping a Russell cream ale at the bar ($5/pint, on a Friday evening), I grabbed a chicken strip off someone's plate and -- whoa. Whoa!! That was a *damn* fine chicken strip! Juicy, tender chicken breast. Tasty breading, the right amount of greasy crunch. And amazing honey mustard dipping sauce! Wow! Simple food done right! Why isn't all pub food this good?!? Other stuff here I've sampled in the past was okay (better than anything at any Donnelly pub), but I'm definitely having those chicken strips next time!!
Authentic Aussie pub in downtown Vancouver. What more could you ask for? Great food, great prices and great service. Top notch!
Fantastic Food & Staff. The staff and food at this restaurant are terrific! The service was warm, friendly, and genuine. I tried the kangaroo, enjoyed the Gold Coast chicken which had the most amazing sauce, and loved the house dressing on my salad which was a passion-fruit vinaigrette. Dessert was a home made pavlova. All the portions were huge, and the flavors were exceptional. If you are in Vancouver, you need to eat here!
First time to Vancouver and my first time to the Moose. It's an Aussie pub with classic fare and a decent selection of beer. The atmosphere is great and very laid-back/casual. The menu offers a wide selection of classics and looks to have generous portions. The open kitchen is nice and there's just enough flat screens so you can watch the game but not so many that you feel like you're at best buy and can't carry on a conversation. I'd highly recommend this place for anyone looking to slam back some beers and food!
Great place. I've just been there and the place was great! It's Halloween today; the place was fully decorated, the waitresses were costumed and had a great time being! Our waitress was adorable. Oh, and the food was excellent :-)
Hearty. Fantastic place to throw an event, watch a game, have a pint, and chow on an unpretentious/good hearty meal! I never left here hungry.
Sometimes it gets busy during lunch and if you have a big group, food may come out slow, so order fast if you only have a 1 hour lunch break.
Chicken parma is the best! Come with salad, do try the house Passion Fruit dressing.
PS. They have selections of some Ozzie beer that ain't Foster man.
I can feel the passion in this establishment!
Great Breakfasts. Always go for breakfast when visiting in Vancouver.
Aussie?. LOVE the moose mash and the doubles on Thursdays! I think it's time for a visit :)
Aussie Rules AFL Grand Final (St. Kilda vs Geelong) Friday Sept 25th
Moose Down Under is a fun and loud Aussie pub where you can see rugby or soccer on big screen TVs, and hear Aussie accents from a super friendly staff. I used to go there quite often when I first started my job in the area. I went out for lunch with my coworkers almost everyday back then, and it was definitely on the top of our list.
I was pleased to see the Aussie Burger on the menu, as I had not seen it for at least a couple years. In fact, the burger used to look a bit sloppy (which I didn’t mind because it was delicious), but now it looks absolutely fabulous – a beautiful fried egg with a golden yolk rested on a juicy beef patty on one bun, and some gorgeous slices of pineapple, beet, and tomato neatly stacked on the other bun. It is by far the most perfect looking sunny-side-up I have seen in my life. It reminds me of my Halloween costume. (See the picture at the bottom.)
The beef patty was juicy and tasty, and so were the other components in the burger. Although I had trouble eating the burger gracefully when I was taking big bites on the whole stack or burger goodness, I just didn’t care much about the mess because this burger was so darn good! Seriously even the fries were so perfectly cooked, seasoned, and picture ready for food magazine. What’s going on here? What kind of burger magic are they conjuring to make this perfect plate of food? Or is it that food replicator from Star Trek has been invented?
I was quite excited to try the food after my coworker told me about the kangaroo burger. Naturally, as a foodie, I was intrigued- I’ve never been to a place not recognizing more than half of the menu! I saw many different items on the menu that I’ve never heard of before, and it took me awhile to decide what I wanted to eat!
Nothing screams authentically Australian like an underground pub, vegemite sangers, and real live Australian accents amiright?!
When I tackled the 'roo, I couldn't help but be reminded of what buffalo tasted like. The meat here is not the same, but the grainy texture was certainly like what I ate at Connoisseur Catering long ago. This different type of meat was Alberta raised and grazed, and I'm sure however Moose's imported their product, it was just as properly treated before being slaughtered for human consumption. I could tell that the meat was most likely recently ground. I bit into a bit of bone, and while that can ruin a meal, it was only one teensy bite. That was one damn lean burger. I think Skippy had been working out before getting slaughtered.
