This is some of the tastier pizza I've had. Delicious thin crust all made from scratch. And a good variety of flavoured olive oil.
B/c everything is made fresh, there is a bit of a wait. So go before your stomach grumbles.
Had gnocchi for the first time here & realized I'm not a fan of gnocchi but the pasta is decent and they certainly don't skimp out on the sauces.
I've had several different pizzas over the years, and you can't go wrong with any of them.
I have been going here since the 1970's when it was on Gerrard , the Father ran it
Now on the Danforth , the prices have gone up quite a bit but the food is amazing
huge servings and all hand made and fresh daily
Gerard's was not bad. The wait was very long but we were warned that it would take at least an hour for our orders to arrive before we were even seated (despite there only being 2 other tables - a group of 4, and a couple) being at the restaurant. But I knew this coming into the restaurant.
The staff was friendly and the ambiance was cozy.
We ordered the prosciutto pizza, the basil and garlic pizza, spaghetti napoletana, seafood pasta, and the seafood risotto.
Both seafood dishes were pretty terrible. Very fishy. And the risotto didn't have much of a taste. The seafood pasta was very wet and drippy. I wouldn't recommend either.
I really enjoyed the spaghetti Napoletana. The sauce was great. Really flabourful. The portion was small though for the price. But I'd order it again.
The garlic and basil pizza was completely covered in garlic and was very hard to eat. It would have been amazing if they had just put about 4 cloves of COOKED garlic in the entire pizza instead of 4 cloves of RAW garlic PER SLICE, it would have been an amazing pizza. It was almost there. I won't lie though, the sauce and dough was so nice, that I still ate it (but only after scraping off massive amounts raw garlic off the pizza).
As bad as this review sounds, I would go back. But only because some of their other menu items sound promising and J am all about second chances. I didn't mind the wait.... Good food takes time.
The prosciutto pizza was dry. Not bad.
