What an awesome spot for a lunch or brunch. Nice and quaint inside with friendly service. Massive portions that are worth the little bit higher prices (for a diner type restaurant). My chicken avocado sandwich was fantastic. Will be back!

No place is better for novelty and wait times than Uncle Betty's in this Midtown neighborhood. The food is very adaquete and satisfying, but lacks the X factor for a place called "Uncle Betty's". Too much of the brunch menu is safe, with one or two items really differentiating the diner from other diners in the neighborhood. The benefit is if you show up at 9:30 on a Sunday, you're guaranteed a table. Something that can't be said for many brunch spots in Toronto.
What makes Uncle Betty's a wonderful spot are the donuts and milkshakes. With a nice variety of freshly baked donuts, you can't really go wrong with ordering one or two. Don't play it safe and try something with some flavour.
Can't say it's the best brunch in the city, or even one of the best, but its a great neighborhood joint and that's good enough.

On Saturday we were heading down Yonge St at lunchtime, and we spotted Uncle Betty's. It was on our list of places to try, so we parked and headed in. It was right around noon, and there were maybe 5 couples ahead of us, so we had to wait about 20 minutes for a table. From our perspective it looked like they could have been clearing a few of the tables faster, and if they were more effective, the lineup would have been shorter.
Once we were seated, we took a few minutes to look over the menu before our server came, so we were ready to order when he did arrive. SWMBO opted for the Classic French Toast with Bacon. A little bit of crispiness and cinnamon on the outside, soft on the inside.
I went for the Omelette of the Day, which today was filled with tomatoes, green and yellow peppers, mushroom and ham. I had a choice of French fries or home fries. I asked the waiter for his recommendation, and he said home fries; good choice. The omelette itself was a pretty good rendition; hearty and filling.
I went to use the washroom before we left. Not as clean as it should have been, in my opinion.
So, overall mixed results. Our server was good, and the food was good, but overall service was a bit slow, and the washroom needed work.
