We hadn’t had dinner yet so after our skate session, we debated where to go. Four girls deciding = way too much deliberation. I swear 20+ restaurants were thrown out before agreeing on Home of the Brave.
The outdoor patio looks pretty nice for the summer time. Gotta love the slogan: join or die. Guess it goes with the American comfort food. The American flag at the booth we sat at was a nice touch.
Go upstairs because the main level houses Locals Only. Lucky we got there when we did because we made it just in time for last call. We put in an order right away and the food came out pretty quickly.
Dessert’s use Sweet Jesus’s soft serve. Damn, they’re popular.
- Ommegang hennepin saison ($8.00) - this saison is a golden ale. It was light, crisp yet full-bodied.
- Buffalo cauliflower ($9.00) - everyone seems to think it’s a must order but the hot sauce didn’t do much for me in terms of tastiness.
- Brussels sprouts ($7.00) - love brussel sprouts when they’re done right.
- Ribs ($20.00) - tender, moist, sticky; good late night ribs.
- Tater tots ($7.00) - tater tots brings me back to my youth; these were waaaaaaaay better. Obviously.
- Mushroom mac ($11.00) - mac was goooooood. Just the right amount of creaminess.
- Cobb salad ($10.00) - I’m not a huge cobb fan to begin with (must be because of the iceberg lettuce) but this was half decent.
- Fluffer nutter ($6.50) - this was actually better than my visit to Sweet Jesus’s actual spot. Maybe because you could eat it more leisurely/without having to worry about it falling completely apart/melting.
HOTB was a solid spot to share a few plates and have a couple drinks. Chill vibe, friendly staff and no fuss American food. Just like the American dream right?
Everything we ordered was very good, we especially enjoyed the brussel sprouts. Our beers were good, service was good and atmosphere fine. .
Having always wanted to go to HOTB I found my chance one day when scouring the area while feeling indecisive about where to brunch. I’ve been before for drinks and while I usually don’t revisit after I’ve had food, I didn’t get everything I wanted to try and will most likely go back after this visit to try their burger and cheese steak and steak.
Came here for a quick dessert after dinner. All I have to say is...wow! My dream has come true. Soft serve ice cream with interesting toppings for dessert. Sooooo good. We tried the Epi-pen...aptly named for those with a peanut allergy. It's chocolate soft serve with loads of peanuts. Tastes like Reese's in ice cream format. Definitely will be coming back to try more food and more dessert.
I have been hearing more and more about Home of the Brave in the past couple months. So when I had dinner at WRVST next door, it seemed like a sweet idea to come visit for dessert after. HotB is located on the second floor, with a lovely open window facing King West. It had a pretty big bar area, as well as seating on the sides and at the back infront of their open concept kitchen.
A really cool place to eat pub style food. Filled with Edison light bulbs! We had the Buffalo cauliflower and the chicken and waffles! Amazing! Totally new flavour profiles! Really enjoyed this place!
We came here after dinner to try the famous Sweet Jesus soft serve ice cream. There were 5 options to choose from. We got the Cookies n' Cream, Tiramisu, and Cinnamon Cone Crunch.
Everyone loveddddd it. All four of us finished ours with nothing left. I wish there was better lighting for my pictures, as the pictures don't do justice as to how the toppings looked like.
Inside my tiramisu cone, there was amaretto espresso sauce coating the inside of it - absolutely divine! The only downside was that it was way too much ice cream for one person. I literally force fed myself to finish it because it was delicious, but I could have definitely lived without it.
Great venue playing some old school hip hop! We waited 30 mins to get a seat tonight but it was worth it. The food is def not your average bar food. We ordered a couple of dishes as we wanted to try different things. Menu is small but has a wide range of different foods. If you haven't been, you should check it out.
Interesting environment, very enjoyable. However, the music in the restaurant is a little under par and too much rap is played for my liking. i had the home of the brave burger and tater tots. The burger was amazing, the blend of cheese and the special homemade lemon sauce in the burger made it explode with flavor. On the other hand, the tater tots were too spicy for my tastebuds! This was not described on the menu but nonetheless they were delicious. Overall good place for a bite with friends in a nice welcoming environment.
My friend had heard of Home of the Brave because of their ridiculous soft-serve and so we decided to hit it up for dinner! We didn’t have a reservation so we had to wait around 30 minutes for a table on a Thursday night. The restaurant does a twist on classic American cuisine. I ordered the Chicken and Waffles which had crispy sourdough waffles, a spiced maple syrup drizzle of sour cream. Before going here, someone told us that they thought there was too much syrup but I actually thought the amount of syrup was perfect! I dipped everything in it and the chicken still remained crunchy.
