I had wonderful time at your restaurant last night. I found my waiter, Philip--who is a great asset to your restaurant-- to be very genuine and courteous and seemed to want the Edulis' diners he was serving to have a positive dining experience. He set the tone and pace for a meal that wasn't rushed yet not too slow. As for the food and the presentation of each dish, I can't say enough. Each dish was beautiful to both the eyes and to the taste buds.
And I appreciated the fact that chef not only replaced the squid dish he had on last night's tasting menu with another seafood I preferred but that it was yet another beautifully presented dish. The John Dory was so tasty!
There are two very minor suggestions that I'd like to make: The first is for diners to also have the option for regular tap water instead of Q still or sparkling water. I think Toronto has some of the best tasting and safe drinking water any where and while $2.00 isn't that much, and yes the Q still water tasted okay, I couldn't tell the difference between it and tap. Honestly I would've rather use that $2 towards another glass of wine. :)
The second may be considered 'tacky' to some but I love when restaurants present something at the end of the meal to show the tasting menu one just ate. It's a neat souvenir and a great reminder of a lovely dining experience.
I will definitely return to Edulis, hopefully during white truffle season but would love to time it right to enjoy both black and white truffles!
I would like to start by saying thank you.
Thank you for making our special occasion as beautiful as it was. We could not have chosen a better restaurant, and absolutely loved our entire experience.
The ambiance had an eclectic feel that seemed to transport us to another place. It was romantic and warm...cozy without feeling "stuffy". The service was impeccable. We loved the welcoming energy and thoughtful attention we received the entire evening. I cannot rave about this enough. We also deeply appreciated the custom dessert that was made for our occasion. We were greeted by one of the chefs/owners herself (Tobeh I believe), and she reference my previous note to her, presented our AMAZING dessert. At this point of the evening, my significant other felt so amazing he had tears in his eyes as he blew out his birthday candles.
Now onto the food. From the beginning of our feast until the very end, each course was a tantalizing adventure for our senses. The intricacy, presentation and flavours of each dish were incredible. Such detail. Complexity without being overwhelming or overdone. The element of "surprise" that came with the presentation of each course also made this a unique, educational and fantastic experience that we will definitely come back for. ...and I repeat, our dessert was so delectable we wished there was a giant Le Creuset pool of it that we dive into. Absolute 5-star.
Again, THANK YOU Edulis.
Hands down, our best culinary experience in years.
Sincerely,
Yolanda + Mike
Local ingredients and impeccable French style dishes keep me coming back to Edulis. Every single morsel is harmoniously tied to the others on your plate. Nothing out of place; everything perfectly combined and thought out.
You will not regret either the five-course or the seven-course dinner selections. Leave yourself in the hands of Michael and Tobey -- the husband-and-wife chef/owners -- and their amazing team in the kitchen, sit back and prepare to be serenaded by course after course of delicious food.
The staff is amazing and will deftly guide you through your evening with Michelin-grade service. Regulars are welcomed warmly and newcomers are put at ease instantly.
The bread and butter, by the way, are to die for.
Reservations are a necessity thanks to the amazing food and relatively small number of tables here but you will not be disappointed if you have to wait.
