Review Edulis - Toronto

5 stars aren't enough! Tobey and Michael are culinary artists. Every dish is unique and delicious, served beautifully with such an attention to detail. Philip took great care of us and provided incredible wine suggestions for the meal. This was our second visit and we can't wait to go back. Make sure to book well in advance. Highly recommend!

Believe the hype!!! The food is exquisite! 5 courses of pure delight! They provided really clear instructions for prepping the meal at home, and photos of each plate so we could try to simulate a fine dining experience chez nous. The nice little personalized touches in our take-out experience make us look forward to dining in at Edulis in post-pandemic times.

Truly exquisite cuisine in one of the warmest, truly hospitable rooms in Canada. Owners/chefs Toby and Michael continue to operate with what occasionally seems like to disregard for business profitability (truffles at cost? What is this madness). We are truly lucky to have a place like this to go celebrate special occasions. Would give extra stars if I could.

Delicious food and exceptional service would recommend for any occasion.

Excellent multicourse takeout dinner. Service (gratuity) is included in the price. $75 pp. Absolutely gorgeous food. Highly recommended. 2 dishes needed simple reheating at home.

Edulis is ranked among the top 100 restaurants in Canada. I think it deserves the spot, it was a great experience and I will be returning. The Menu: The menu is a pre-fix menu and the dishes are not listed on the printed menu on the tables. Our host told us the dishes are frequently changed and there is a completely new menu approximately every 3 weeks. You need to be comfortable with not knowing what you're about to pay for. There are two options you can order, a 5 course and 7 course for $65 & $85 (the prices have since gone up). We were told that the amount of food is roughly the same as the portions will be adjusted down for the 7 course meal, although you will try two extra dishes, so ordering the 7 course meal solely for the purpose of getting more food may not be a feasible option. To start they brought out stuffed olives, house-made bread and butter. The seven courses we tried are briefly below: 1. Sashimi 2. Shredded snow crab 3. White asparagus and morrel mushroom 4. Georgian Bay lake trout with radishes and almonds 5. John Dory with muscat grapes and leeks 6. Chicken stuffed with foi gras, crawfish on a push pastry, and mushroom 7. Dessert came in two parts, one is a Cake with a rum syrum and creme, the other is a rhubarb frozen yogurt made with goats milk. Overall I was really happy with the menu. While the dishes are small they are very flavourful and rich, and as a result you dont find yourself wanting more. By the end of the meal I was definitely full. In addition to the above we tried their in house made sodas. We tried the apricot and elderflower which I would highly recommend. Atmosphere: The atmosphere is casual, and the restaurant looks like a small cottage inside and out. I think it is very well suited for a date night, as it does have a romantic vibe to it. Service: The service is good, not bad by any means but also not anything special. It was about what you expect from a higher end restaurant but nothing over the top. No complaints here. Parking: There is a parking garage just around the corner (about a 3 minute walk), with underground parking for about $4 which is nice and convenient. Will I go back? 100%.

This is my number one restaurant of all time. Had a great meal last night, truffle season. You walk into Edulis and immediately feel taken care of. The intimate vibe and cute mushroom decor. Service and food both impeccable. A must try.

WHAT TO TRY?! Their set lunch menu! I wasn't expecting much and I also didn't know what to expect because I thought it would be a typical brunch/lunch menu! This restaurant is really small so it definitely gives you a cozy feeling. I say the restaurant can fit at most 25-30 people. Most of their ingredients are sourced from organic farms. I was wowed by their first dish which is their soup of Farro Verde. The ham from El Rincon Joselito was just utterly delicious!! The flavor from that ham was just incredible. The bread was made in house and was freshly served in a cute bag. Even though there were a lot of dishes, I liked the balance of veggies to meats and seafood. The flavors of the dishes were impeccable. We also ordered the scallops which were freshly deshelled to order. The simple addition of garlic and butter with some minced parsley got our mouths drooling because we could smell it from the other table as they were getting their order of scallops! The scallops are additional add ons to the fixed menu though. Overall, though this was a filling lunch, I would say it has been one of my best lunches I had in Toronto because just the ham itself, was worth my visit to this restaurant. The Sunday cake that they made which was an espresso cake, was also a great dessert to end a happy meal. LAST TIP?! The scallop is worth the order in addition to the fixed lunch menu because you can smell the sizzling scallops fill the entire restaurant the moment they take it out from their kitchen. If you like ham, you'll like the ham here which is from El Rincon Joselito!! The fixed lunch menu is not cheap ($55 pp) so I recommend you to save this lunch for special occasions!! And lastly, all their bottled wines are 50% off on sundays! Take advantage of that!

I had wonderful time at your restaurant last night. I found my waiter, Philip--who is a great asset to your restaurant-- to be very genuine and courteous and seemed to want the Edulis' diners he was serving to have a positive dining experience. He set the tone and pace for a meal that wasn't rushed yet not too slow. As for the food and the presentation of each dish, I can't say enough. Each dish was beautiful to both the eyes and to the taste buds. And I appreciated the fact that chef not only replaced the squid dish he had on last night's tasting menu with another seafood I preferred but that it was yet another beautifully presented dish. The John Dory was so tasty! There are two very minor suggestions that I'd like to make: The first is for diners to also have the option for regular tap water instead of Q still or sparkling water. I think Toronto has some of the best tasting and safe drinking water any where and while $2.00 isn't that much, and yes the Q still water tasted okay, I couldn't tell the difference between it and tap. Honestly I would've rather use that $2 towards another glass of wine. :) The second may be considered 'tacky' to some but I love when restaurants present something at the end of the meal to show the tasting menu one just ate. It's a neat souvenir and a great reminder of a lovely dining experience. I will definitely return to Edulis, hopefully during white truffle season but would love to time it right to enjoy both black and white truffles!

I would like to start by saying thank you. Thank you for making our special occasion as beautiful as it was. We could not have chosen a better restaurant, and absolutely loved our entire experience. The ambiance had an eclectic feel that seemed to transport us to another place. It was romantic and warm...cozy without feeling "stuffy". The service was impeccable. We loved the welcoming energy and thoughtful attention we received the entire evening. I cannot rave about this enough. We also deeply appreciated the custom dessert that was made for our occasion. We were greeted by one of the chefs/owners herself (Tobeh I believe), and she reference my previous note to her, presented our AMAZING dessert. At this point of the evening, my significant other felt so amazing he had tears in his eyes as he blew out his birthday candles. Now onto the food. From the beginning of our feast until the very end, each course was a tantalizing adventure for our senses. The intricacy, presentation and flavours of each dish were incredible. Such detail. Complexity without being overwhelming or overdone. The element of "surprise" that came with the presentation of each course also made this a unique, educational and fantastic experience that we will definitely come back for. ...and I repeat, our dessert was so delectable we wished there was a giant Le Creuset pool of it that we dive into. Absolute 5-star. Again, THANK YOU Edulis. Hands down, our best culinary experience in years. Sincerely, Yolanda + Mike

Local ingredients and impeccable French style dishes keep me coming back to Edulis. Every single morsel is harmoniously tied to the others on your plate. Nothing out of place; everything perfectly combined and thought out. You will not regret either the five-course or the seven-course dinner selections. Leave yourself in the hands of Michael and Tobey -- the husband-and-wife chef/owners -- and their amazing team in the kitchen, sit back and prepare to be serenaded by course after course of delicious food. The staff is amazing and will deftly guide you through your evening with Michelin-grade service. Regulars are welcomed warmly and newcomers are put at ease instantly. The bread and butter, by the way, are to die for. Reservations are a necessity thanks to the amazing food and relatively small number of tables here but you will not be disappointed if you have to wait.

A review by the Globe and Mail that hangs on the wall in Edulis is titled "pleasure bordering on delirium:" I couldn't say it any better than that. Simply sublime. An exquisite, delicate tasting menu full of surprises that never disappointed. Together with the superb, thoughtful service and the impressive wine list added up to a fantastic meal. We will definitely return.

What an amazing dinner! We had the seven course option and every serving was outstanding. The ingredients were meticulously sourced. Thanks for the great evening Michael & Tobey. Can't wait to come back.

One of the best meals I have ever eaten. It was perfection, start to finish.

Each course consistently underwhelmed. The Cod tongues tasted of stale frying oil and every other dish missed the mark. On the positive, our attentive server's wine suggestions were out-of-the ordinary and paired well with the food.

We finally got to go after waiting for a while for our reservation. Food was delicious, special, really outstanding. The portions were tiny, and well, I guess that’s a thing there and it’s fine... but it isn’t when the table next to yours, a couple who are regulars there (as they mentioned several times and with great familiarity towards the servers) gets the same exact dishes as you, but served in different and larger plates and in what is more than obvious, much larger servings. Again, if small portions is part of their signature, ok, but don’t treat different patrons so differently... it’s poor taste.

Had an excellent meal. The restaurant is a real gem, ran by two people , Michael & Toby who put their heart and soul it to making it a great dining experience all round . Can't wait to return. Thanks for the cake & treats.

Delicious food and drinks. Great service. My husband and I got the large menu and lobster with white truffle. We couldn't have left any happier and satisfied. Thank you!

Fantastic experience. The food was excellent and the service was personalized. We enjoyed a 2.5 hour dinner, including a great chat with Tobey, one of the owners. I highly recommend this place!
