Hole in the wall, quick service style chinese food. Shareable sized plates. Curry was so good, not too spicy just the way i like it. Tofu and cod hot pot was en par to other ones I've had elsewhere. Everything was tasty. Warning: parking will be tight for large vehicles.
Great Chinese food. Our new favourite. Absolutely outstanding. Servers were super friendly- thanks Jenny. Loved the garlic spareribs and the black bean chow mein- crispy.
If you’ve ever been around the Victoria Drive area near East 41st Avenue, you’ve probably seen the popular HK Style Cafe known as Mui Garden. As it turns out, they also have a Richmond location (they had another location on Main Street that closed out last year). The Minoru Blvd location is a bit hidden from the street as the entrance is on Firbridge way (1 block north of Westminster Hwy). We stopped by for lunch on the weekend and the place was fairly busy. As with the Victoria Drive location, service is curt and to the point.
The curry at Mui Garden is so delicious and the beef brisket is really tender. Even though they have a little chilli pepper on the menu to warn that it is spicy, the kids eat it no problem-they love it! I don’t eat pork so I am so happy they offer sweet and sour chicken and I love that they put lichee in it. The prawn chow menu was tasty too! The food came out lightening fast and service is pretty good, but sometimes the servers can be in an unfriendly mood and prioritize setting tables over coming over when you try to flag them down. The dishes are quite pricey and i noticed on this visit that we were charged $1 per takeout box when they packed up our food, and this is why I didn’t give a higher rating.
You know you can always count on Mui Garden to satisfy your curry craving. Being from Hong Kong and all, home-style cooking gives such a personal touch and reminds me of home. Dishes like Minced Pork Chili Beans, Sweet and Sour Pork, and their daily soup tastes super authentic!
For this visit, I got my two favourite dishes from here: Curry Chicken with Rice and Sweet and Sour Pork. The Curry Chicken order comes with a drink or soup. As it was a cold day, we chose the soup! For those who haven't had Chinese soups before, they tend to be made with bones scraps (Chinese people don't waste anything - bones from meats give the soup a great flavour). The soup usually contains some chopped up turnips, carrots, and parsnips as well. It's a light broth unlike cream soups.
The Curry Chicken is amazing as usual. The chicken is consistently tender with the softest skin that slips right off. The sauce is creamy with just the right amount of spice, mixed with green and red peppers. I absolutely love how every Asian cuisine has their own different type of curry. When it comes to Chinese curry, you'll know to expect a heavy, creamy sauce. A lot of Chinese dishes/sauces are meant to be mixed with plain rice, which explains the strong flavours in most dishes!
Without a doubt, Mui Garden is my ultimate favourite place to get Sweet and Sour Pork. It's rare to find a restaurant that serves this dish with every piece still crispy! The pork is deep fried, and topped off with a red, sweet, and sour sauce. In the sauce, there's also vegetables like peppers and onions and fruits like pineapple and lychee!

Reasonably priced, quick service and stable quality. Try their curries and chicken with rice! May be very busy during evenings so make a reservation!
My go to place for Hong Kong Style SouthEast Asian food. That's right! It is SE Asian with a twist. I love their ChiuChow style noodles and their curry. I used to love their Hainanese Chicken, but honestly I have tried better ones in Greater Vancouver area.
Try their beef brisket curry. It'll just melt in your mouth. My mouth is actually watering as I write this review. If you could go when there's no line up, tjat would be ideal since this place gets quite busy.
After a bad experience at the mui garden on Victoria drive in Vancouver, I decided to give another location a shot. My service was straightforward here and friendly. I ordered a fried rice to go and it was really good. I would definitely recommend this location as a better location. If I was in the area I would come back again.
Their beef brisket curry is still the bomb.
I ordered this prawn and walnut with special sauce that used to be amazing and have whole walnuts, now the walnuts are in pieces.
Seems like the food quality is dropping due to inflationary pressures. I will revisit though as this is one of my favourite restaurants to see if it's a one off.
If you look for "past" hong kong style “Cha chaan teng”. It should be a place to visit. Simple but speedy service, while the favour of foods recalled me back to cha chaan teng in hong kong, which is fading out... Hong kong style milk tea is something you should also try.
Good flavours and fast service. Good soup, and hotpot, but roast pork in the hot pot wasn't great. Very tasty beef brisket curry. Large menu selection and reasonable pricing. The rice flavoured with chicken oil was a highlight.
Best curry beef brisket in town. Other menu items like sweet and sour pork, Hainan chicken, and honey garlic spare ribs are awesome too.
Service is friendly enough, same staff have been with the restaraunt for a long time. I recognize them and they remember us. Lots of regular customers here.
Kid friendly, high chairs and maybe boosters are available.
Prices are reasonable, nothing outrageously priced here.
Has a bit of an old school feel here, but this establishment has been around the lower mainland for a long time.
Definitely one of my favourites.
