I’m going have my Birthday dinner ...snowfall chicken the best
Bester than any other Korean chicken places (in Korea and more) I've ever visited. The owners and staff are personable, fun and also hilarious.
Being a Korean myself, I will admit that I occasionally get the severe Korean fried chicken cravings. This is one of the first locations that comes to mind to satisfy my cravings with their delicious boneless chicken! I usually get the half soy garlic + half original, and I've also enjoyed their Korean sweet chilli. I would generally recommend to stick to chicken and not much on the other appetizers since fried chicken is essentially what you came here for!
The only caveat here is that since this is a casual dining location where people like to eat, drink, and talk, the customer turnover can be often slow and can easily end up waiting close to or over an hour for a party of 2-4. If you plan on ordering take-out to try to outsmart the long wait-line, you can expect up to 1 hour of wait anyways. I don't like my ratings being influenced by wait-time/services/staff-friendliness, so I will conclude with the following: If you want Korean fried chicken, definitely give this place a go!
Cocoru fills a niche in Richmond, serving up delicious Korean fried chicken and beer. Their menu has gradually evolved since opening but the star continues to be the juicy and tender fried chicken. We started with Deep Fried Rice Cake ($5). Pictured is two orders of the rice cake which are fried to a crisp on the outside but remaining chewy on the inside. They are topped with a spicy Korean sauce and sesame seeds. The sauce has a mild heat and is quite sweet.
Korean fried chicken done right!
Usually a busy place so plan ahead & book a day in advance. Got lucky on a Thursday night & got a table straight away.
Variety of chicken to choose from, whether on the bone or off the bone.
You can get half or whole orders.
We tried the half soy garlic & half Korean sweet chilli boneless chicken with a side of fries.
Fries came out with a mixture of straight cut & circular cut. Not as crunchy & crispy as my food partner would have liked.
The show really belongs to the chicken. Piping hot from the chicken, the soy garlic was crispy & the Korean sweet chilli was sticky. Tender juicy chicken coated in the most amazingly delicious crispy coating.
My recommendation- the soy garlic chicken. I will be back to try the original chicken!
치맥 FTW! I have been craving for Korean chicken and some rice cakes for some days now. So happy to have been able to satisfy my cravings and so close to where I live too!

October 27, 2017 · Korean fried chicken place located in Richmond. The interior here is modern and clean, service wise everyone was polite. I wouldn’t come all
Fried chicken….there have to be a nearly infinite number of takes on it. You have your traditional American KFC or Church’s Style, Taiwanese style, Japanese style, Korean style, it’s crazy! While cruising around Richmond looking for some tasty grub before hitting up a karaoke joint, we decided to give Cocoru a shot, a spot known for their Korean fried chicken!

Chicken and beer together is pretty iconic – just ask Ludacris, who named one of his albums after the famed duo. In Korea, they’ve been perfecting this duo since the 1960s, so much so that the word that describes the two (Chimaek) is a hash of chicken and Maekju (beer in Korean). One of the newer places in the lower mainland that offers Korean chicken and beer is Cocoru in Richmond.
A good friend of mine swore by here as the ONLY place he goes to for Korean fried chicken. Naturally your boy here had to see what was really good. Swung by here with a friend to do just that! First impressions of the dining area were clean and uncomplicated, though rather small. We were seated promptly and our server/hostess were both quite friendly. We had a full order of the soy garlic, a half order of the dak gang jeong (spicy Korean chicken) and a full order of honey garlic wings. Everything was absolutely delicious 👌👌👌 The dak gang jeong gets extra props for having some good kick to it. Fresh, delicious made-to-order food coupled with stellar service. What more can you ask for really?
P.S. A little steep price-wise but thats no problem since the portions are MASSIVE!
Funcky little Korean fried chicken joint in Richmond. Their fried chicken is very crispy but we did not like the sauce. We ordered the Soonsal and Soy Garlic boneless chicken, and the corn with cheese. We found everything a bit too sweet. Hopefully it is just the choices of sauce that day. We are willing to come back again and try the other options. :-)
It’s no surprise that Korean fried chicken and beer is amazingly delicious and has won the hearts (and tummys!) of many Vancouverites. If you don’t have the luxury of going to downtown all the time to get this deliciousness, don’t fret! A new place just opened up in Richmond that serves up pretty authentic chicken and beer!
