One of my favourite Vietnamese places. Banh Mi Tres Bon has delicious pho with bone marrow and their beef stew is amazing! Their soft-shell crab sandwich special was unique, worth a try even though it's double the price of their regular subs. Macarons are cute but only come in 2 flavours - vanilla or chocolate.
Prices are reasonable, interior is cute (like Alice in wonderland tea salon) and I'm excited for them to expand to a bigger space.

Today we were traveling around Richmond, taking on the “Dumpling Trail”, a self guided tour that took you on a journey to taste 13 different kinds of dumplings across 20 different restaurants, all vetted and vouched for by “Tourism Richmond”. “Banh Mi Tres Bon” is the latest restaurant to be inducted to this list and their “banh bot loc”, the newest dumpling you can try on the “trail”.
Bánh Mi Très Bon is a cute French styled, Vietnamese cafe in Smartcentres Richmond plaza. It’s a much newer, chic Vietnamese spot but it’s still run by a Vietnamese family. That being said, BMTB starts at a higher price point than the norm. We dropped in for a late Monday snack (around 5:15pm) when it was decently busy. The inside has a cozy nook of chairs in one corner (think French high tea) while the rest of tables is for eating.
A couple weeks ago we were in Richmond running some errands when we realized it was lunch time. A quick google search showed that Banh Mi Tres Bon was on the way so we stopped by for lunch. We were a little skeptical at first because it seemed too hip and the Banh Mi trio seemed like a gimmick. We were wrong.
Bánh Mì Très Bon is located in Central at Garden City which is the same complex as Walmart in Richmond. It has trendy and modern French inspired decor.
Bánh Mì in Vietnamese-English dictionary means “bread”. It is understood to be Vietnamese banquette or Vietnamese Sandwich. 🥖
Bánh Mì Trio is a great pick if you don’t know what you want. It has 3 mini bread. Each has chicken, meatball and Vietnamese ham & braised pork belly. 🥓🥖 A typical Vietnamese sandwich from a modern and Vietnamese cuisine. It has coriander leaf, cucumber, pickled carrots combined with condiments from French cuisine along with jalapeños . 🥒🥕🥖
Phở Tái Bò Viên is a Phở with beef tenderloin and beef meatballs. This place offers a chunk of bone marrow with fresh broth.🍴 Absolutely delicious!

I took my girlfriend here for a surprise weekend brunch. Banh mi tres bon has a lovely parisenne interior and from the looks of the food, we were very excited to order. We lucked out with their corner seating that had the couch.
We got there beef pho with bone marrow. Besides being incredible photogenic, this dish is so comforting with incredible flavors. This is a must have here. Next came the little egg crepe tarts in the hot iron skillet. Again, incredible for photos, but I must stress this. You have to order this dish! Becareful, it is extremely hot. The fish sauce and chillies that come with it add another layer of flavors. Finally, the Vietnamese beef stew, choice of bread or rice. My girlfriend choose rice, she wanted less gluten in her diet. We can both say that we wished this dish was bigger LOL, cause it was delicious as well.
We really had a wonderful experience here. Our Lady server had incredible service experience. We loved their theme. Above all, the quality of food here is real good. The prices are just a slight high but the quality speaks for it. This is a great place for high tea as well. I would come back as a regular returning customer.
When Anthony Boudain discovered pho in Vietnam, he described the experience as the “food porn”, which has lived on ever since in the foodie world. Indeed, a perfect bowl of Vietnamese pho does give you everything sexy about food, the aroma from fresh herbs and exotic spices, the clear but velvety broth made from brewing cattle bones for hours, the thinly sliced tender beef, and the soft but slightly chewy rice noodles. The pho here at Bánh Mì Très Bon is exactly all that, but with more – the piece of bone filled luscious bone marrow just brings it to the next level. Using grass-fed beef contributes a lot in the flavours of the meat and the soup. $12 might seems a little pricey for a bowl of pho, but for with quality like this, it is a tremendous bargain. Just a note on other dishes. I was not as impressed with their pork and spring roll on vermicelli at my 2nd visit, or maybe they have set the expectation a little high with their star pho. My mom, however, was wow'd by the pho. Next thing I want to try here is the Bánh Mì, and maybe a couple of those cute dominion macarons. So stay tuned!
I tried one of Beep Beep’s Salad Rolls ($6). I liked the quality of shrimp – it was bright orange and actually had flavour. The sauce was creamy, crunchy from the addition of crushed nuts and spicy from sriracha sauce.
It seems like that this place have been opened awhile already, but I didn’t notice it back then I passed by since alderbridge was so under construction. I am glad that I found this place, it is more like a cafe in French and Vietnamese style. The mini crepe I ordered is prepared in the pan for grilling escargot, Which is quite an interesting twist. This cafe is artistic decorated which is pretty cool place to get some work done or even having a date, even though the lighting is a bit dark in here.
I ordered Pho Ga (Chicken), which is not a regular order for me when I eat pho. It was pretty good, but the table I sat at didn't have any more condiments to add. I also ordered a beef banh mi, which was great.
