I’ve been hearing nothing but good things from friends about HK BBQ Master. I decided to check them out first thing after getting off the plane. They’re located inside the same plaza as Superstore. Hours. Closed on Wednesday. I’ve been twice, both times on a Sunday (1:00pm and 6:30pm) and it’s been busy. The takeout line wraps around the corner. The smarter thing to do is to sit down and eat; you get served much quicker. I ended up waiting in line for over 20 minutes. It’s not very well run with only one lady working the cashier.

Your meal at HK BBQ Master does not come with a view. They have mercifully covered the windows and doors with brown paper so that you don't have to look out at the dark parkade and circling cars of the pretty good but not Great Canadian Superstore above. Watch your step as in some places the floor inside the little restaurant is a bit of an ice rink. There is inevitably a line up outside the door in the previously mentioned parkade. All of this will mean nothing though, once you sink your teeth into their amazing barbeque! Actually, the young fellow, who's name I should have gotten, who steers the ship at the front door, has a tremendous grasp on what is going on. He told us there would be a 15-minute wait and it was just under that. If you are ordering to go, he sends you one way. If you are eating in, he gives you a number and counts you down! We were seated and had ordered and received our food all within 20 minutes, I am sure!
We ordered 2 plates at $12.50 each. The first was barbeque pork and roast pork on rice. The second was soy sauce chicken and barbeque duck on rice. The first truth applies to all 4 meats and that is, that they were amazingly tender! If you have no teeth, do not be worried! I have roasted a couple of ducks lately and they seem to always have a bit of chew but this duck was meaty and more tender than I could have wished for. The roast pork had the wonderful crispy skin while the others had that lovely sweet glaze. All you can do is come here, put up with some little stuff, sit down (or take out), and try this barbeque. By the way, the staff is amazingly efficient! When you are done, try not to linger too long. Others are waiting.
Hands down, the best cha siu place you can find in Vancouver!!
I came here with my boyfriend the other day to have their cha siu fan and it was the best I've had for a long time. Definitely coming back here again.
Best taste of HongKong EVEEERRR !! Coming all the way from Kelowna and hkBBQmaster is a A MUUUST stop by place for lunch, snacks + take-out back to home. Noting to pick on the most friendly service from the Owner, his son and the rest of staffs, absolutely 100/100 !

came here during a late lunch and been here many times before as well, place is always packed and under the radar for sure, most of the time only the locals came here, and food wise, i love it the meat is juicy, and the pork fat's outer layer is crispy, and yet the middle part is packed with fat that's cooked with herbs and it smells very delicious as well. overall the for the taste and what you're paying in this location is very very worth it in my opinion. definitely a place worth going. this time i had soya chicken and roast pork each costing under $10 it's worth it.
The quality of the roast & BBQ meats here is consistently excellent. The chicken is good but nothing beats the BBQ pork and crispy roasted pork.

This was one of the rare occasions I found myself in Richmond with some time to spare. So I decided to tag along to lunch with a few other food bloggers. When deciding on where to go, I mentioned wanting to try a hidden gem, something that you can only get in the city and that I will like be missing out on if I didn’t try. All those parameters led us to “HK BBQ Master”, for a very meat heavy meal.
HK BBQ Master 明家燒臘專家 is located on No 3 Road and Leslie Road. It is the same building as Canadian Superstore. This place is very small.
You won't miss it because it always has line up in the store.
Best barbecue pork, roasted pork and sautéed chicken. Great place for lunch. Price range for lunch is from $9-$12.
My go-to place for meat on rice ❤❤❤ Cantonese-style BBQ specialties like pork, soy chicken, and the ungodly delicious BBQ duck 😭 are a good summary of the main draws. Free range chicken and roast pork are another couple of interesting offerings. The restaurant itself is very small, given its primarily take-out orientation I wasn't surprised. I stayed away from this place for quite a while given a couple of very questionable service experiences in the past, but I'm happy to say the service I got on my latest visit today was friendly and VERY quick 👍I had my Combo 10 (pork, duck and soy chicken on rice) with free tea at my table within a couple minutes. Hats off to you HK BBQ Master! You do what you do very well 👊

○known for their Chinese bbq food / I like their bbq pork, fat parts are tastier and lean are definitely on the drier side/ bbq duck isn't bad either
