It has the best Filipino menus to offer esp the sinigang na bangus belly, pork sisig, kare-kare, you name it and always serve ala carte. My only concern is they close so early unlike their asian competitors.
My son Vince always asking for the barbecue chicken he likes it so much...I like the seafood medley mutya Ng cavite and the mixed vegies lohonchay, so good...

We have eaten at Little Ongpin quite often and it always seems to be packed! As is often the case with Filipino places, not a lot is spent on decor but the emphasis is on food and friends. This time we were there with the family for an early Christmas dinner (you could say). We ordered and the food arrived when it was ready! Nothing is waiting under heat lamps but is cooked to order! Sisig is one of my favorite Filipino dishes. As with so many great cuisines of the world, the best dishes are those where creative cooks take what they can afford and what is available to make something delicious. The main ingredient in Sisig is pork face (jowls, snout, ears) but it arrives at the table redolent of garlic and is wonderful and crispy on a sizzling platter! Get past any squeamishness you may have and try this wonderful dish! Bicol Express is another one of my favorites. Pork in coconut with vegetables and chilis. It came with a nice little bite from the chilis but the pork was a tad chewy in this case. Lechon Kawali might just be the national dish. Wonderful deep-fried pork belly, crispy on the outside and tasty and tender inside. Served with a tasty vinegar based sauce. One of Marie's favorites is the Stuffed Squid. It is a little too far on the fishy side for me. Filipinos use a lot of shrimp paste and fish sauce and sometimes dishes are a little too strong for my palate. I have learned that a side of shrimp paste, judiciously added to things can be quite amazing. Still, after tasting it, I left the squid for others to eat. No Filipino meal is complete without rice. This time everyone wanted fried rice. There were lots of tasty shrimp in this version. I was happy that some veges were ordered. There was a nice bit of variety and they were not overcooked. Not bad! Finally, more squid! This was not exactly life altering but it was nicely cooked and crispy! Little Ongpin is a good place to be introduced to Filipino cuisine. The menus come complete with pictures so you can know what you are ordering even if you do not speak Tagalog. There is something available for the adventurous and not so adventurous!
○good service
○good food/ we enjoyed all dishes particularly the Shanghai spring rolls
○good price for quality and quantity/ they are very big portioned so good for family dinner
○they tend to close earlier than their posted hours so call first before u go, we came 3x different days prior to today and they always closed early
○would I go back? Maybe only because this isn't the type of food I'd eat regularly
Great family run joint in Richmond. Place is a bit small and service can start out slow but they are super friendly. Menu is quite extensive, had trouble choosing for two people! Food was tasty and portions are quite big for reasonable prices. Will definitely be back to try other dishes.
Yesterday wasn't the only time I've eaten in this restaurant. This is my favourite Filipino resto! I always come here either with my family, boyfriend, or friends. I love their bagoong rice which comes with egg, mango, and meat. It's super delicious! And of course their sisig which comes in a sizzling plate and is so tasty and crispy. My other faves are the bbq skewers, lechon kawali, crispy fried shrimp, and sago't gulaman. They get Filipino food just right. Their service is great too! Such a friendly place. The place isn't very big but it's well kept and mostly clean. Always my go-to Filipino restaurant.
(Ongpin Value Meal #3) Chargrilled pork belly $7.95 ~ served with egg, rice, salad and soup
This is the first time I try the philippino food that is better than I expect, service is so so & overall experience is very good. Although the place is a little bit small, the atmosphere is warm & cozy, will be there again.
I feel that filipino food is over price a lot of the time, if not, most. Little Ongpin is OKAY in terms of their portion sizing matching the prices, but I feel like I can make a filipino homecooked meal much better and flavourful. I find the taste is never consistent with the dishes, sometimes too salty, other times missing a key ingredient. Regardless, if you want you Filipino fix and are too lazy to cook, go for it. Small cramped restaurant, incredibly crowded on weekends.
I have always wanted to check out Little Onpin for their colourful, rich and comforting filipino dishes. And finally we made it there after our badminton game this week. Their menu was huge – deciding what to get was no easy task. Java BBQ Chicken ($11.95) was slightly smoky, and we could totally taste coffee on the chicken and then dipping sauce. Although a bit on the sweet side, it was moist and delicious!

Best sisig in the lower mainland! I'm filipino and find that the food here is just like what my parents would make at home. Service is ok. Could be better
It is quite frankly the best Filipino eatery here in Richmond. At Little Ongpin, we are regularly satisfied. Thanks to the joint's friendly staff, and their tasty, authentic Filipino dishes, Little Ongpin has provided us with a go-to Pinoy joint whenever we need one. We particularly enjoy their smoky, flavourful sisig (pork or bangus) as well as their value meal combos. Despite not being the most inexpensive restaurant, Little Ongpin gives you the bang for your buck, as you will certainly enjoy their True Pinoy flavour.
Marvellous lunch before or after a visit to Ikea. Seemingly simple clear soup packed with lemony celery flavour, deep fried batter free fish delicious, even the egg was perfect, the little pink dipping sce so tasty. For me the eggplant salad took the trophy, such a lovely mix of flavours. And the Flan desert was worth coming for alone, needs to be eaten not described.
Born and raised Richmond Fil-Can and this is my favorite Filipino restaurant in the city. Price is excellent for the quality of dishes they serve. Most importantly, their staff are friendly and I am never disappointed with their service. Clean and fast, ambience could use upgrading though but most of the patrons are local residents and a lot of employees in the area of all races looking for great Filipino Asian dishes. A lot of the offices in the area do take out orders for groups for office parties as well. Call ahead for sure!
Well It's not fine dining, for sure. You get a stack of plates with spoons and forks for you to distribute to your companions. Tables are too close that your back might bump into someone seated at the other table. The Filipino dishes taste very good but some like the "sisig" is too salty for me. Prices have gone up though still reasonable. Service is good and quick. Oh, if you are not Christian just ignore the small stickers on the fiber glass barrier.
Great, authentic filipino restaurant that serves a wide variety of food. It is more on the pricier end compared to other filipino restaurants but their quality of food is worth it. The restaurant is small so try reserving ahead of time or come in early before their rush hours.
It's been many years since we visited Little OngPing Restaurant in Richmond on No. 5 Road. It's a very busy place for lunch, especially on weekends. The restaurant has many large tables, great for family gathering. The service was a bit slow due to how busy they were, but they were polite when you wave them down. They offer many authentic Filipino dishes, and all looked very delicious. The three dishes we ordered had delightfully rich flavours. Ongpin is a great little eatery for good Filipino food. Recommended.
Another Filipino restaurant to go to.. Food and service is great. They have a lot of food selection - definitely we will keep coming back until we tasted everything on the menu hehehe
