Great ambience. 3 hour seating limit. Popcorn to snack on a nice touch. Would come back here again. Interesting drink, food and desert options.
Went to Green Grotto because we were craving desserts and bubble tea! Green Grotto is also a pretty good study spot, since they have outlets, food and drinks, and a washroom in this location. We were handed our menus right after being seated down. Coming in around 1 PM, there was still a decent crowd as there were a few others who were studying in the corners. Complementary popcorn was given not long after we sat down – one of the perks of visiting Green Grotto 🙂
Drinks are well crafted - not too sweet, and flavours taste like what they're supposed to be, but the ice tasted like freezer burn.Tapioca balls have a good texture and chew to them.
Servers are aloof; I had to order water twice, and it never got refilled. It was not a busy time.
I really liked the ambience as its basically for people who want to relax and work or for some professional meetings. The music behind is soothing doesn't disturb you and there are book shelf which seems attractive. Now, lets come to the food, they have variety of snack and beverages options and the one's which i ordered were these and i kind of liked it because there servicing was fast, they serve you a bucket of popcorn when you arrive (which is creative right?) :D. Me and my friend also had salt and pepper chicken which was really yum, they were in popcorn size but they don't serve with any sauce or dippings so you have to ask them for ketchup but over all its a good place to have a chat with your friends in summers :) and yea they do have wifi ❤
Every time I come here, it seems to be always packed. They have tons of asian magazines you can look through while waiting for a seat. Great atmosphere to hang around with friends. So far, I love their Hokkaido milk tea and okinawa brown sugar milk tea. You also get a complimentary bowl of popcorn which I always like.
There weren't many tables left when we arrived. Thankfully, we got the last table for four, enabling each of us to comfortably place the results of our retail therapy beside us. The lighting conditions weren't as optimal as I had hoped, but the warm-toned decor and large windows provided for a satisfactory background.
We were still too full to try any of the food, but the drinks were great. Our server was also extremely friendly, taking the pressure off our shoulders from being indecisive.
It's a great place to hang out with a group of friend and it's quiet enough to bring your homework and laptop to study or do work. Their refrigerated cakes were old but okay to eat. We ordered different drinks from bubble tea to slushies. They were all good. The most unique dessert was Cold Formosa Bowl. This was perfect for sharing.
After eating at New Northern Dumplings, my sister and I came here for dessert.
I ordered the Hokkaido Specialty Black Milk Tea and their dessert special of the day, which happened to be my absolute favourite - matcha crepe cake with red bean.
My sister decided upon a pot of ginseng and honey green tea and their pistachio chocolate crunch cake.
I really enjoyed their bubble tea. It had a light floral taste, yet was reminiscent of chai. There was a generous helping of tapioca at the bottom.
The matcha crepe cake and the pistachio cake came soon afterwards.
On top of the matcha cake, they sprinkled a sugary matcha mix, not pure matcha. I enjoy matcha for the bold, crisp taste. I scraped off the excess with my fork and dug in. There was the perfect amount of red bean cream.
The cake was pretty tasty. Not as delicious as Millie Creperie of course, but I got a decent slice for $5.99. No complaints there.
I took the excess matcha powder and put it on top of the complimentary popcorn. That made the popcorn even more delicious.
My sister's dessert was good as well. It didn't blow us out of the water but the taste and texture was good.
When my sister was eating the last few bites of her miniature cake, the tea finally arrived. It does not take that long to make a cup of tea and I have no idea why the wait was so long.
Other than that, Green Grotto didn't disappoint me.
I've been here twice now and will return for the atmosphere. There is a minimal order of one item per person. Once you order, they give you a complimentary bowl of their popcorn of the day (and unlimited refills!). They aren't pushy with their customers and let you stay for as long as you want. A great place to chat and play games — they don't have board games available but you can bring your own. However, despite the name, the drinks are mediocre at best. Ten Ren and even Cha Me Cha have better drinks.
One of my favourite bubble tea places. I love the interior decor of this place and the atmosphere. This is one of the nicer sit down places and is great for just chilling and catching up with friends. My favourite drink here is the Tripleberry Slush, which is super yummy if you're a fan of fruity berry flavoured things with little seeds in it. I also love that their tapioca is multi-sized.
