My wife and I ate at the Kam-Moon yesterday after work. For a mere $6.95 you get a pita pocket filled with either falafel, Greek chicken, steak shwarma, beef kofta, beef sausage, beef liver, garlic shrimp OR calamari - as well as baked potato, pickled carrot and a delicious fried pastry dessert known as Tulumba.
My wife chose the chicken and I had the garlic shrimp.
Ordinarily we like to share our meals - but this was so darned good that we each ate our choices up before we even thought to share.
The pita bread was fresh and thick and delightfully amazing. I know when I wrote "pita pocket" each one of you started thinking about those flat flavorless wraps that you can buy at the grocery store - but forget about that misconception. The bread alone - which is also sold separately - was some of the best tasting bread that I had ever tasted. It is warm and fresh and truly unique.
The torshee, or pickled carrot was crisp and refreshing. I spoke with the owner and he said that he is going to be trying different vegetables such as cucumber, turnip and the like.
The potatoes were tasty and flavorful.
The dessert, tulumba - was a little bit like Mexican churro only sweeter and with a better texture.
I'm rating this five stars - but only because that is all of the stars that Facebook allows me to put. After we ate we purchased a bag of bread to take home for home use, as well as a bowl of rice pudding and another serving of yummy tulumba.
The manager and the staff were courteous, friendly and VERY attentive.
The restaurant is located on the corner of Cogswell and Brunswick, just down the street from Scotia Square and the office that I work at. I would recommend this eatery highly. It offers light, tasty and truly filling cuisine and bread that would be worth wrestling a grizzly bear for.
Since we were in the neighbourhood, we checked out Kam-Moon for dinner today.
In short, it was delicious! We ordered two meals. I had the chicken pita and Mark had the beef sausage pita. The pitas were both so good but we agreed the chicken one was better. The sides included were pickled carrots, potatoes, and tulumba (a dessert). The carrots were nice and crisp and full of flavour. The potatoes tasted how I hoped they would, the spice blend was really great. The dessert was fantastic! It was like a churro soaked in a sweet sauce but still crunchy on the outside. We ordered extra and I’m glad we did! We also added baked pasta to our order. It was nice and creamy and a good portion.
All in all, it was a really good meal for a great price and we’ll definitely be back
Amazing food and staff. So far the beef steak is my favourite. The hawawshi is also really tasty. I really enjoyed the beef liver, I don't think I trust anyone else in Halifax making it this good! Really everything here is great =)
Recently found out about this little Mediterranean joint and I’m glad I did. Starting with the amazing decoration to the high level of the customer service. Very outstanding customer service!
The food: deliciously and mouth watering. We ordered the beef liver meal “Alexandria style” and without a doubt it was so good. We also have beef sausage sandwich, mint tea, konafa and the tasty glazed dessert and nothing was less than perfect. Personally I loved the roasted potatoes comes with the meal.
I definitely recommend it..
Great place! The food is superb!
We ordered the falafel pita meal and the beef kofta meal. We also took home an order of pita bread.
The price was good! $6.95 for the meal.
The Pita bread is superb it's fluffy and chewy, really the perfect texture.
The entire meal was well balanced with a small dessert, some pickled carrots, and potato's.
The pita had good flavour and the sauces were spot on.
A new fast food meditranian restaurant, delicious plate, well service, welcoming staff.
Today (second visit) I went to have breakfast, location is perfect however less options of parking.
Decoration and layout are perfect, there are lots of tables reqular and high chairs, very specious and I liked the huge glass windows where it give brighteness specially at morning.
Cleanliness, tables and the place are clean and the level is plausible.
Food, I liked the unique and fresh bread (well done), falafel (green timbites 😊) is really prepared well and testy. Foul is prepared externally well and presentations is unique, also potatoes are prepared in different way, NO OIL fried in the oven. Also fresh drink like mango Orange juice are offered here where it is rarely to find Halifax. I liked it a lot.
Service and timing, service no doubt the service is wonderful, big smile 😊 understood the menus able to explain the details and gives options. Thanks guys for being nice and friendly.
Prices, honestly ($) for the value of food. I felt I am full and I didn't feel hungry for long time.
Conclusion: wonderful experience, high level of expectations. I really recommend it. specially for breakfast. I will go again
Sooo good!! Authentic Egyptian and middle eastern food, all made fresh to order. The flavors are great and the owner / server was extremely friendly and keeps the place very clean.
Went here twice, and included pictures from both visits and the dishes we ordered.
Super tasty 😋, authentic Egyptian/Mediterranean diverse menu (Falafel, Foul, meat, chicken, Kusheri, meshaltet ... etc). The meat hawawshi is a must! Fresh tasty bread pockets and fresh ingredients are used. The portions are ample. Meat and chicken confirmed Halal by the owner. Clean restaurant and restroom. Great service and reasonable prices.
The place is nice and clean
They make their own bread. AnEgyptian style pita (whole-wheat) which is thicker and nicer than pita.
Foul (fava beans) pockets were good
Falafel was excellent. Again it is the Egyptian style Falafel.
Hawawshi (spiced up minced meat pockets) was excellent.
Kebba was great too.
Prices are average.

Really great little spot. The value is definitely there- delicious food for the price. We were super happy. Staying next door at the Hampton and just wanted to get out in the evening and try something different. This place is super close by and tasty.
The only downside to this spot would be the plastic. Dining in and being given plastic forks and spoons is a definite deterrent to returning.
Got there in the complet unknown. The man at the cashing matching gave us time to look at the menu, but stayed present in case we had questions. In the end we ordered through the ritual app, and he served us to the table.
The food was delicious and looked as fresh as it could be. The guy was super friendly and just enough for us (meaning nice, polite and customer-centered, without being invasive or faking). Greatly appreciated our first time there!
Definitely a must visit for the Egyptian bread with lentil. Decent prices and fresh hot meals. Recommended.
