Just had a great dinner here with my wife. We found the service great and the food very great as well. Definitely going back hoping to take a couple with us. Can't compare to how it was years ago as I had never been, but for my first time I left feeling very pleased.
As a loyal "Trailer Park Boys" fan, I decided to visit "Economy Shoe Shop" for dinner during a recent trip to my home town, Halifax.
I decided to try their "Dirty Burger" platter.
In spite the name, the burger is actually delicious.
If I ever return to Halifax, I might visit "Economy Shoe Shop" again.
Our daughter and roommate took us out as our first choice was unavailable so this was a great choice to try as there was live music and we seated ourselves. They had plenty of local brews and quite the character of an establishment.
We ordered some appetizers and I missed the fine print on the Dirty Burger of two patties. The 1/2 Nachos were plenty for one person.
Service was excellent always on it. Food was very good and the portions were great. The happy hour special is one of the best in the city and is convenient before a Moose or Thunderbird game.
We were greeted and seated right away. They are pretty strict with the covid regulations (not a bad thing). It did take our server a hot minute to get to us, but once she did, she was great. She was very accommodating throughout the whole experience. Always checking and offering additional drinks food etc. I requested a drink I had got at another restaurant and not only did they happily make it, they nailed it. The food is pretty standard, came to us fresh and tasted good. It's fair pricing too. All in all a good time and I'd definitely return.
Fantastic food and wonderful atmosphere. I love that the Nacho's are layered, the mozzarella sticks are phenomenal. The attention to detail did not only meet but exceed expectations:) service was excellent, polite and friendly.
P.s This is also home of the dirty burger as it's owned by the trailer park boys
Love the atmosphere here! The live music was amazing and even there’s no entry fee. The price of beer in the happy hour was super cheap, the food was tasty and I really enjoyed it! Def I will go back again! Just very nice for everything. Btw the server was friendly as well!
Always a fantastic time downstairs for drag or comedy.
Strangely poor service upstairs yesterday, our first time upstairs. We arrived early for a downstairs show so sat ourselves upstairs for a beverage. We were given a drinks list but it didn't have anything non-alcoholic listed. My husband asked if he could get a coffee; I asked if tea was an option and the server said "Yes" and then went quiet (awkward). I said something like "Oh great, do you have any black teas?" (hoping for something caffeinated) and she just said "I don't know " and again went quiet. It was like pulling teeth just trying to get some info (or later, milk and sugar) from her! There was a lot of sighing from this server, an uncomfortable experience for sure. Will happily return for events downstairs though.
As a vegetarian, this is my favourite place for a meal in the city. They have tacos, a vegan wrap and appetizers. Just look how much cheese is on this Flatbread! I love the decor, service is always quick, and kind; a perfect balance between attentive and non-intrusive no matter who is working. Recommending this place every chance I get.
I can’t describe how great the vegan options are. The vegan crispy chicken wrap and the beyond burger are probably some of the best plates from a non-vegan only restaurant around! Consistent and quick service every time - never disappointing!
We had our first pre-Neptune diner at the Economy Shoe Shop. Great atmosphere. The decor is interesting and colorful, the staff are welcoming and friendly...and they care about the patrons. A special shout out to our waitress Bailey and her serving assistant, who made us feel right at home. My husband said their chips are among the best, and my caesar salad with chicken was fresh and crisp. Loved our visit. It will jot be the last.
First time at the Economy Shoe Shop. Had the Philly cheese steak, was a little disappointed - it was good, but didn't expect it to have gravy so couldn't eat it as a sandwich. The house salad was awesome, and the house dressing was amazing! The donair was large, and really good! Drinks were great, happy hour till 7pm. Beer $5, cocktail $7.25 - great prices! We will definitely be back!
