You can tell they are trying hard. I'm sure this place is a steady 4 most of the time. When I got there on a Saturday evening they were swamped. I took the chefs table, all alone in a corner with a view of the action. And oh boy was there action. The staff seemed overwhelmed the whole time. I couldn't tell who was the lead on what. I had plenty of time to make these observations as I was seated and ignored for the better part of a half hour. Maybe cause bigger tables matter more when you are scrambling, I'm not sure. The poor bastard who had to pull over to serve me must have asked the bartender three times to make my Caesar. It was standard fare, but unfortunately arrived after my meal, which I found annoying. The pasta special was on point however and I don't hold a grudge. It was salmon and fresh veg in a dill cream sauce. Perfect amount of penne and fish. Glad I didn't order an appetizer (other than the Caesar) cause it was a large portion. They gladly provided a little sambal on the side cause I like heat with my cream sauces lol.
I think on a normal night this place would not disappoint.
$65 for one with main, cocktail, and tip.

Best brunch in Fredericton. The quiche is drool worthy. Some of the best soup eaten. Smoked salmon eggs benny is another great option. A Fredericton jewel.
Excellent food - we were drawn in to the restaurant by the wonderful aromas wafting outside. The Lemon Meringue Salmon and the Jumbo Sea scallops were excellent. The service was very good as well.

Enjoyable pasta. Creative dessert.. This artsy restaurant makes it perfect for enjoying some of the creative dishes that come out if its kitchen. The pasta is a wonderful combination of perfectly cooked calamari, chorizo, tomatoes, basil, and feta. The squid is not rubbery nor overdone, while the sauce is thick and creamy. The chorizo is packed with a particular bite that oozes flavour with each bite. As you can tell: I thoroughly enjoyed this pasta.
When I ordered the Apple Strudel with French Vanilla Ice Cream, I expected some sort of flat strudel (akin to that of the 'doughboy') with ice cream lopped on top. Tis was not the case: the Palate strudel consisted of layers of phyllo pastry and the filling was not just apples alone. Oh no no no, this creative culmination consisted of both cranberries and apples, allied with the ultimate power of ice cream!
So yes. I enjoyed dessert as well.
In conclusion, the Palate may not be the finest dining in Fredericton, but they do quite the job serving excellent cuisine. Finally, although service and speed is not their forte, they do make an admirable effort.
Best Brunch in the City. The Palate offers a wide variety of consistently awesome brunch items on Saturdays. Their lunch menu is great too. The staff is very friendly.
Lunch Specials!. While I've never eaten at the Palate at dinner time, their lunches are to die for! They always have a couple specials, including a soup/sandwich combo that changes daily. The sandwiches are open-faced and melt-in-your-mouth good.
I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves food and is looking for more than just your basic meat & potatoes.
I have been here on Friday night lately for a dinner with my supervisor and my friends at around 6 pm. My suggestion is that you should make a reservation before hand as the place can get very busy on Friday.
For lunch, I found it is quite busy from Monday to Friday as well. You may need to book a table ahead of time to avoid disappointment.
The food is good. They always have specials of the day, which is not on the menu. Ask for them, most of the time they are surprisingly very good.
The price is good for the food quality and services.
The parking can be tricky during during the day for Monday to Friday as you have to pay for street parking. If they are full, you have to drive one more block and use the city’s parking lot (paid) and walk back to the restaurant. The street parking is free after 5 pm from Monday to Friday and all day on the weekends and holidays.
Great service and a nice ambiance. I went here for supper with my brother a couple of weeks ago. Overall, both of us really enjoyed it. The service was great and I enjoyed just sitting with a glass of wine inside.
The Korean BBQ tacos as an appetizer were fantastic. Loaded with kimchi and expertly cooked beef, I would absolutely get them again. The pork tenderloin was a perfect dish. The tenderloin was cooked well and the sauce added a nice sweetness and tartness to the dish. The veggies were fresh and well seasoned, but the dish itself was a little too cool for my liking. If it had of been just a bit hotter when served, it would have also been perfect.
Looking forward to going back and trying some of their other dishes.
Our group enjoyed dinner here last night and I was very impressed by our service and food! I thoroughly enjoyed Harvest Maple Salad, the Pork Loin entree, and omg the Baked Brie was amazing!! 👏
So delicious I forgot to take a picture before eating! I had the classic breakfast and it was very well put together and the flavours were very balanced and the meal comes together nicely. I would highly recommend giving the palate a try if you are downtown and need some tasty food!
We ate here for dinner. The restaurant is simple but the food is complex! Bravo to the chef(s) the flavour of the Korean beef tacos was excellent and so was the Thai Chicken Chicken!
Fish cakes were ok, scallops were good, chowder was fantastic, well seasoned but I prefer a creamy thickish chowder so that's why I liked this one a lot.
What a wonderful place and atmosphere!!!! I had never eaten here before, I went last night with a friend I hadn't seen in 20 years. We had so much fun the food was AMAZING!!!! And Vanessa our server what a Gem she was to have her serve us. Keep up the great work! Next time I'm back in town I will be back for dinner!
