Great service, food was soooo tasty... salt and pepper seafood is a must have. Can’t wait to go back!! Food came out hot and fast. Price was good too
The best bargain Chinese in the area. I love their palace shrimp/chicken, and fried rice. They give huge portions for a great price with a smile. The ambiance sucks, get take out or delivery.
I've never been inside the restaurant but have ordered food many times. This is our go to Chinese place, the food is always hot and fresh. Very consistent, never had a bad experience.
What a great Chinese takeout here in Canyon Meadows! We always order enough to get the free dumplings and it always turns out to be tons of food. Way too much. And it's really tasty, best of all you feel good after eating it. I'm pretty sure there is no msg just based on how well we feel after eating it.

They use great quality chicken and seafood. Fantastic vegetarian dishes...the salt and pepper squid and chicken are both fantastic....keep up the quality ingredients and food!
My family and I love sizzling rice. The bbq pork fried rice, ginger beef, pork dumplings, sweet and sour pork, lemon chicken, chicken balls, literally everything is delicious here and is WAY better priced than the Chinese food place by our house now. Sad we live so far away from this place.
We love Sizzling Rice. I always get the combo Lunch for One, even if it's for dinner. I get Chicken Chow Mein and Palace Style Chicken for the entree choices, and make sure they put in a little cup of chili oil for me to use. My boyfriend now orders the same thing because that combo is to die for. He also says their Hot and Sour Soup is one of the best. The only place we order Chinese from now.
We love Sizzling Rice! We find the food is consistent and delicious! Love the salt and pepper squid. Service is awesome and they usually make sure it's really fresh (they sometimes deep fry squid when you get there since it's quick anyways).
It is difficult finding a great consistent Chinese food place in Calgary so thankfully this place exists. Combos meals are a.little pricey but we'll worth it for the amount of food you get.

We like this place.... While Ma Kettle and I were buying bread from the bakery in the little strip mall on Elbow Drive, we asked the lady behind the counter what the Chinese restaurant next door was like. We expected a simple shake of the head, but to our surprise, she was most enthusiastic in her recommendation.
Understand, Sizzling Rice is a small, non-descript eatery both inside and out. Without the recommendation from local patrons, we probably would have given it a pass. The interior is plain, a bit shop worn, but seemingly quite clean. We were greeted warmly, and our waitress was pleased to describe the 'heat' from various offerings on the menu. I was reminded of a restaurant I used to go to in the 60's as a teenager, but I digress...
We ordered #40 (Szechuan Chicken with Brocoli), and #82 (Special Fried Rice), plus a pot of green tea. I remember because I wrote the numbers down for future reference. Just the right amount of spice, no gelatenous sauces, and portions large enough to feed two. Very pleased with our meal. Great flavour.
Upon arrival, a few kids were occupying one table, and we were concerned that volume or language might be a concern, but the kids were quietly talking among themselves. A second and third group of kids came in during our visit, and in each instance, they were greeted with respect by our waitress, and respect to the restaurant was shown in return. Obviously, this is frequented often by students from a nearby school, and the kids feel comfortable returning. They obviously enjoy the food, so I took this as a good sign prior to our receiving our meal. I'm not suggesting this is a hangout for kids, simply a refueling station for active bodies. No group stayed longer than ten minutes.
Food is tasty, patrons diverse in age, and just a real good overall vibe within this eatery. Ma Kettle and I expect to return often in the future. Stay tuned...
