I would have rated 3.6 if I could. I liked their hush brown as they were not deep fried. My ‘california’ is not a bad choice if you like omelet. Toast was good. Burger and other dishes are ok but nothing special. It’s a place with characters and good service though. I liked the atmosphere, cozy and busy.
While running some errands, D suggested we stop here for a bite. He hadn't been in years, and I'd never been so I thought it was a great idea. We were both starving and it was very cold out, what with it having snowed the last couple of days, so we popped in and were seated at a window booth. I tried the hot chocolate and Mr. Boring had water. The place is chaotic, there's no end of random old knickknacks to look at, so it took me a while to pick what to try and in the end I went with the Nellie's Hash done with chorizo.
When the hash arrived, it was HUGE. When they say 'mountain' of hash browns they aren't exaggerating. They were more like fried potato chunks than hash browns, everything was sautéed well, and they were nice enough to do the eggs scrambled for me (I can't handle runny eggs). I had sourdough toast to go with it, but it was very hard to finish everything. It's your typical idea of diner food, lightly greasy but in a good way. I left absolutely stuffed and I needed help to clean off the plate because there was so much on it. The hollandaise was nice and thick, and there was plenty of it which is always good.
When we were chatting as we were paying the bill she gave us some candy, which seems to be a thing at that place - they have a lot of lollipops and whatnot. I think next time I'd like to either try the pancakes or one of their omelettes.
Oh MK DO Nald's

Sharing my Saturday morning breakfast to you foodies. So I've been putting an eye on this diner every Monday when I go to work. And just this morning I stopped by to dine-in. Well I choose the window seat to have a good view of the sleepy morning Saturday as the lady server hand me a complimentary brewed coffee and glass full of iced cold water. I ordered Ukranian breakfast meal which is their popular dish if you need an extra energy for the day. So as I was waiting she hand me the newspaper. The ambiance is pretty good, I love the vintage designs and displays. The diner is very accessible to Bus stop 2 Mt. Pleasant, to early joggers and late people who just had a Friday night party. So my meal was ready, a large plate of sliced potatoes, sausage, 2 poached eggs on top of it with hollandaise sauce with small slice of orange and wintermelon and 4 pcs. of multi-grain toast. So yeah, it taste good but for an Asian girl like me, it was sumptuous that I can't finish the whole thing. But probably for someone who needs a gigantic brekky in the way should order this meal. So my usual 2-4 hour digestion will sure be prolonged, so I had breakfast at 7am and I feel like I will have my next meal by around 3-4pm. $8 for the cheapest meal and $14 for the most expensive plate. And yeah, I know you just need breakfast, not a feast. Try it too, you will have a complimentary coffee and just spend something to munch to start your day.
