I really enjoy the sauté soup.. peanuty.. a lil spicy... and HUGE!! That seems to be something they actually care about, I find the service to be sub par. Refills are almost non existent and the other plates I have tried here just don't stand out. If you want a good pho, this place should deliver, providing that's all you want!
One of the best Vietnamese restaurant in Calgary if not the best. Service is superb and the food is delicious. The place is clean and nice. It's my go to for lunch when I need some comfort food. I highly recommend their beef sate soup. 😍
I really enjoy the place- I always love the food here, great atmosphere, quick and welcoming service! I love the spring rolls and the curry too!
It's definitely a go to for Vietnamese in this city.
I've had spring rolls in restaurants across Canada and this place does my favourite. Nice and crispy exterior that's almost buttery without being greasy and the pork filling has this nice peppery flavour with maybe a touch of ginger. It's tops, folks. Try them with the charbroiled pork on vermicelli for a classic combo. Phó here is good too esp. the beef sate stuff. Also service is fast and friendly .
Hey guys! My next few posts will be through my journeys over a week in Calgary visiting my sister, so here we go! Does pho in Calgary translate well from the west coast? Read on to find out about Bagolac Saigon . Food: I came here with Team Fam and I ordered a Pho Tai Gan (Vietnamese noodles with rare beef and tendon) and an Avocado Shake . First off, the broth here is pretty good, albeit a little oily. The pho comes with the usual suspects of onions, scallions, and green onions and overall I would liken it to something like Thai Son ; very middle of the pack. Large Pho Tai Gan The Avocado Shake was pretty good. It was a little lacking in colour and I’m not sure if that’s just the avocado situation here or if it’s just flavouring. Overall I thought the food was an average case of pho but it was very filling having the two in the same meal. Avocado Shake Features: This is a giant pho restaurant minutes away from Chinook Centre that could probably host about a 100 guests . Washrooms were quite clean and the lighting made this feel like a finer dining kind of restaurant. Inside Bagolac Saigon Service: Service was good here. Our waitress took our order and food started coming out in under 10 minutes which is standard among Vietnamese restaurants. The Avocado Shake took about 20 minutes to come which was good timing in terms of me finishing my pho but I also gave myself a brain freeze drinking it too quickly. Oops! One-liner: The go-to for pho around Chinook Centre Highlight: Pho Tai Gan Recommended for: Pho lovers pooped after a day of shopping Would I go back? Yes. Bagolac Saigon Photoset
LOVE the Wor Wonton Soup here! The staff is always very friendly and accommodating and the soup is always delicious!
Not too shabby. I remember eating at Bagolac years ago, but haven't returned since (rarely in the area).
On Sat. morning, after stopping by Chuckles, we decided to it was lunch time and Bagolac was close by, so off we went. It was around 11:30 am, so it wasn't too busy.
Upon entering Bagolac, a waitress just happened to walk by, asked us how many (2), and was seated promptly with menus. A short time later our drinks arrived.
The menu is extensive, there are many different things to try at Bagolac.
We started out with an appy, shrimp salad rolls. Since we were both hungry, the appy arrived very quickly; there were 3 rolls on the plate, but they were thoughful enough to cut them in half. It was ok, lacking shrimp though. However, I can't see how you can screw up salad rolls as the ingredients are minimal to begin with.
I stuck with my usual favourite at any Vietnamese restaurant, which is a rice dish - #105 to be exact, rice, shredded pork charbroiled pork, and 2 fried eggs (the meal also came with veggies, shredded lettuce and 2 slices of cucumbers).
I have to say, food service is lightning quick. After we were done with our appy, the hot food came shortly after.
My meal came out hot, and nicely arranged on the square plate. I liked the shredded pork/charbroiled pork, the shredded tasted fresh (it was elasticity rather than dry, good !) and the charbroiled was moist and tender. The fried egg was sunny side up, with crispy 'burnt' edges. I took the yolks and broke it over the rice, and it made for a delicious combo when mixed with the fish sauce.
I tried a little morsel of beef from my companion's beef pho, and I enjoyed the tenderness of the beef, however the soup based had a unique (slight sweetness to it) flavour.
Overall, the interior was quite elegant for a Vietnamese restaurant, coupled with our friendly waitress and lightning quick food service, we'll be back.
Love it!. Best Vietnamese food in Calgary! Really nice decor!
Love the Vietnamese beef stew noodle soup, the meat is tender and delicious and the soup tasty. Modern place, good prices. In general, I'd recommend it.
Love This Place!. I go here at least once every week. Typically I order the #52 (sate beef soup), but everything on their menu is delicious. Fantastic service and terrific food.
