We stopped in one Thursday night for a quick beer and some food. The place was almost full, which is a good sign. We ordered the platter and some beers and the food was delicious. They serve traditional pub fare, but the wings and ribs we got were much better than most pubs. We'd definitely like to come back here again. Our server was good too, and for some reason our bill was discounted. We'll be back again for more.
Went during YYC Pizza Week: the pizza was delicious and the service was amazing once they noticed we were there. Maybe 10 minutes before the waitress realized we were seated.. But after that she was amazing!
Had the #YYC pizza feature there the other day, "The Spaniard", it was delicioso! My grandfather, who was Portuguese, used to make chourico in the back of his deli when we were growing up in Toronto. It was great to see such an innovative use of the sausage on this pizza!! Albeit not quite as good as my grandfathers it was pretty close and I think he would have approved! The pizza crust was perfect. Not a fan of the beer selection there, perhaps some more Euro or Craft beers to match with the original pizza choices?? Overall great night out!
Been to this spot many times. Always a good time and good crowd. Staff are a tight group who take care of each other making sure everyone gets good service. As someone who was in the industry for over 15 years its nice to see girls who are willing to work, and owners who back their people. Our regular girl is D. Not only is she hot as hell, she knows us all by name. Any girl that can hold her own with a table of drunk rowdy 30-40 year olds is nothing but gold in my books.
The Trop continues to be an excellent place for us to meet up with friends. Very accommodating staff, exceptional customer service and great food.
Pulled Pork Waffle Poutine.. Worth going again for the waffle poutine with pulled pork- OMG good. Service needs a lot more guidance though- owners, are you listening? If you let your waitresses talk to people with absolutely no respect, pretend not to have change (boobs don't work on me, either, I have my own), etc.- it will be your demise. Which would be sad, because that poutine is great.
GREAT FOOD. Every time I eat here I come away happy. The greens salad with quinoa and goat cheese is amazing. I guess they make the basil vinaigrette fresh on site. Pizza is really good too. Always fresh and not your average pub pizza. Lots of unique stuff like warm potato salad and waffle fry poutine. Well worth a visit.
Best rare steak sandwich in Calgary. Great service given with a good sense of humour. This will be a regular stop from now on!
One of our favorite local spots. I really enjoy the food at The Trop, especially all the gluten-free options. We eat there regularly and usually have good service, especially from Brad and Gino. If something isn't right (which is rare), they fix it. Try the warm potato salad side, and the dry ribs appetizer.
